There have already been a number of phemenomenal tributes to the late Leslie Nielsen, but now Airplane and Naked Gun co-writer/director David Zucker has penned one and it’s both heartwarming and hilarious. There is one brief, eyebrow-raising moment where Zucker writes: “Offscreen, he wasn’t so much of a joke or storyteller…” Fortunately, he immediately qualifies this statement by saying that Nielsen preferred practical jokes and that “the stories are legion about the fart machine…” Too perfect. According to our sources, Steven Slater was minding his own business, polishing his treasured broadsword and snacking on gunpowder, when a rogue bag came flying toward him from a disgruntled passenger. Sensing danger, he quickly thwarted the attack by stopping the bag with his face. The perpetrator, a middle aged woman Slater took to be the villain from a Marvel comic book movie, was then reverse suplexed by Slater through the floor of the airplane which automatically set off the emergency escape slide on the vessel. It seems unfathomable that we once lived in a world where we were deprived of Ethel Merman playing a doped-up PTSD -afflicted soldier who thinks he’s Ethel Merman, or the mom from Leave it to Beaver sliding some smooth jive-talking on the brothers, or watching Lloyd Bridges pick the wrong day to stop sniffing glue. But fortunately, Airplane! came along some 30 years ago and comedy has never been the same. Like the rapid-fire gags you see on The Simpsons and American Dad ? Enjoy the so-dumb-it’s-hilarious jokes of the Farrelly Brothers? Appreciate the fact that Leslie Nielsen is best known now for his screwball comedies rather than his stodgy black and white dramas? I have trouble keeping up with the random nobody hotties from England so I can’t really remember who the hell this Pixie Lott bird is, but she’s pretty cute for an English chick and I like that she’s wearing a little pair of short shorts on the airplane so I thought I’d share her with you guys. The caption to these pictures was ‘Pixie Lott flies out of Heathrow Airport to New York to watch the England v USA game in a bar’ . I knew that the Brits were into their soccer but that seems like a long way to go for a game. Why not fly to the actual World Cup ? Maybe it’s just me.
