Shook Ones: Martin Bashir Resigns From MSNBC After Saying Someone Should Sh*t In Sarah Palin’s Mouth

Martin, you got to watch what you say. Martin Bashir Resigns From MSNBC Before Martin told someone to take an isht in Sarah Palin’s mouth, he should have been warned to watch his. According to Mediaite: Just over two weeks ago, MSNBC host Martin Bashir delivered a harsh piece of commentary that culminated in the suggestion that someone should “s**t” in former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin‘s (R-AK) mouth. Bashir offered an abject apology on his next broadcast, but a chorus of critics continued to demand action against the host. After a reported “vacation” for the host earlier this week, Bashir announced in a statement Wednesday afternoon that he will be stepping down. Here’s the statement: After making an on-air apology, I asked for permission to take some additional time out around the Thanksgiving holiday. Upon further reflection, and after meeting with the President of MSNBC, I have tendered my resignation. It is my sincere hope that all of my colleagues, at this special network, will be allowed to focus on the issues that matter without the distraction of myself or my ill-judged comments. I deeply regret what was said, will endeavor to work hard at making constructive contributions in the future and will always have a deep appreciation for our viewers – who are the smartest, most compassionate and discerning of all television audiences. I would also wish to express deepest gratitude to my immediate colleagues, and our contributors, all of whom have given so much of themselves to our broadcast.’ MSNBC released Bashir’s statement, plus the following statement from MSNBC President Phil Griffin:“Martin Bashir resigned today, effective immediately. I understand his decision and I thank him for three great years with msnbc. Martin is a good man and respected colleague – we wish him only the best.” Maybe his comments were a little too much, but something needs to be done. The woman’s elevator doesn’t go all the way to the top.

Sarah Palin to Write Christmas Book

Sarah Palin is coming out with a new book, just in time for the holidays. A Happy Holiday IS a Merry Christmas will be published in November. It’s about “reserving Jesus Christ in Christmas” and will “illustrate the reasons why the celebration of Jesus Christ’s nativity is the centerpiece of [Palin’s] faith.” “This will be a fun, festive, thought-provoking book,” Palin promises. The former Alaska Governor and V.P. candidate said in a statement: “Amidst the fragility of this politically correct era, it is imperative that we stand up for our beliefs before the element of faith in a glorious and traditional holiday like Christmas is marginalized.” “This will encourage all to see what is possible when we unite in defense of our faith and ignore the politically correct Scrooges who would rather take Christ out of Christmas.” Palin quit Fox News in January, citing a need to find a broader audience. Will she find it with her holiday tome? Only time will tell.

Jim Parsons Reveals He Is Gay

The Big Bang Theory star Jim Parsons reveals that he is gay and in a long-term relationship in a recent interview with the New York Times . The Times , interviewing Parsons about his Broadway career, mentioned that he is gay and in a 10-year relationship, but did not elaborate. The news is not exactly a surprise: Parsons thanked his presumed partner, Todd Spiewak, at the 2010 Emmys when he won for lead actor. Mostly, the actor spoke about his role Elwood P. Dowd in Broadway’s Harvey . While best known for Sheldon’s classic Big Bang Theory quotes , Parsons praised Dowd as a character desiring to “connect with other people.” Parsons, 39, continued, saying, “The jump-out-of-bed happiness I feel transcends any nerves about taking on a history-laden role.” Elwood P. Dowd was most famously played by Jimmy Stewart in the 1944 film version of the play. Jim will no doubt do it justice. Follow this link for the newspaper’s full article on Parsons . [Photo: WENN.com]

Bristol Palin Reality Show Hyped With Unintentionally Hilarious Bio

“Bristol Palin is the daughter of Sarah Palin. She got pregnant by accident just as her mom was added to the 2008 Republican ticket, at which point she pretended to be engaged to Levi Johnston, then attempted to cash in on her 15 minutes.” Lifetime’s press release for Bristol Palin’s new reality show COULD say that, and it wouldn’t be incorrect, but alas, their bio is a bit different. Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp (get it?!) premieres on June 19 with two (!) episodes. Here’s Lifetime’s explanation of why you should watch it: “Viewers will get the chance to experience the life of one of America’s most famous young mothers, Bristol Palin, in the new docuseries … showcasing Bristol’s journey growing into womanhood with her young son, Tripp.” “With never-before-granted access to Bristol’s real-life experiences, the show follows her everyday life as a single mother living under intense media scrutiny that comes from her lineage as the daughter of former Alaska Governor and V.P. candidate Sarah Palin .” “The series follows Bristol’s move from Wasilla to Los Angeles with Tripp and her sister Willow, and back to Alaska as she deals with parenting and disciplining her toddler without Tripp’s father.” “Giving viewers a unique look at the difficult decisions she makes for relationships, career and family, Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp will capture how true-to-life challenges test her resolve as she single-handedly writes the next chapter in her and Tripp’s life.” “The former first daughter of Alaska, Bristol has become one of the country’s most high-profile teen mothers after the 2008 birth of Tripp.” “She has since dedicated her life to being a leading advocate for the prevention of teen pregnancy, working with such organizations as the Candie’s Foundation to educate people about the issue.” “In 2010, Bristol appeared on ABC’s hit reality competition series Dancing with the Stars , on which she placed in third. Most recently, she published her New York Times best-selling book, Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far , which candidly chronicles her public and personal life.” “Bristol also launched her own blog , where readers can get her views and opinions on various topics such as politics, pop culture and parenting.” Eh, our bio is still better. There’s something to be said for brevity. Will you watch Bristol Palin’s new show? [Photo: WENN.com]

Jewish Groups Refudiate Sarah Palin "Blood Libel" Remark

Sarah Palin’s video response to the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords prompted a strong backlash from some members of America’s Jewish community. Why? The former Alaska Governor accused the media of manufacturing a “blood libel” that only incites the hatred and violence they condemn. Fair enough, except … “Blood libel” is a term apparently dating back to the Middle Ages, referring to a prejudice that Jewish people used Christian blood during religious rituals. David Harris of the National Democratic Jewish Council said that instead of dialing down the rhetoric, Palin “chose to accuse others trying to sort out the meaning of this tragedy of somehow engaging in a ‘blood libel’ against her and others.” Harris called the repeated fiction of blood libels “directly responsible for the murder of so many Jews across centuries – and given that blood libels are so intertwined with deeply ingrained anti-Semitism around the globe, even today.” He wasn’t alone in echoing this sentiment. “The term ‘blood libel’ is not a synonym for ‘false accusation,'” added Simon Greer of Jewish Funds for Justice. “It refers to a specific falsehood perpetuated by Christians about Jews for centuries” that sparked violence and discrimination. “Unless someone has been accusing Ms. Palin of killing Christian babies and making matzoh from their blood, her use of the term is totally out of line.” U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona, who was shot in the head (allegedly by Jared Lee Loughner ) and remained in critical condition, is Jewish. Criticism over her crosshairs map that infamously targeted Giffords during the 2010 elections prompted the comments by Sarah today (below). Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League, was sure to note that “it was inappropriate at the outset to blame Sarah Palin and others for causing this tragedy or for being an accessory to murder.” “Palin has every right to defend herself and we agree with her that [our best tradition] is one of finding common ground despite our differences,” he said. “Still, we wish that Palin had not invoked the phrase ‘blood libel’ in reference to the actions of journalists in placing blame for the shooting on others.” “While the term ‘blood libel’ has become part of the English parlance to refer to someone being falsely accused, we wish that Palin had used another phrase, instead of one so fraught with pain in Jewish history.” Here’s Palin’s video response to the Arizona’s massacre: Sarah Palin Speaks on Gabrielle Giffords Shooting
