If you’re a big Britney Spears fan like all of us here at Idolator, then a lyric video for Britney Spears’ fourth Femme Fatale single “Criminal” is a bit superfluous, as we’ve had the song memorized since the album dropped in March. ‘The biggest compliment I can give it is that I like it more than everything else I’ve done,’ MC tells MTV News. By Steven Roberts, with reporting by Matt Elias Childish Gambino Photo: Childish Gambino Childish Gambino ‘s most recent offering “Bonfire” serves as the first single from his first physical album, Camp. The action-packed, fast-paced, metaphor-filled song not only fits Gambino’s camp theme, but it seems like a metaphor itself, signaling his arrival as a fully formed MC. MTV News caught up with Gambino (a.k.a. “Community” star Donald Glover) in full makeup on the set of his video for “Bonfire,” and he said the album was a real labor of love. “The biggest compliment I can give it is that I like it more than everything else I’ve done,” he said. “I think it’s a cohesive piece, and I wanted to tell a whole story with it. Hopefully, the whole album is like a book or a novel where [there’s] a through line.” Gambino said his favorite albums are the ones that tell stories that transport you somewhere else. On Camp, he hopes to emulate Biggie’s storytelling prowess on the 1997 classic Life After Death. Gambino’s upcoming debut album holds a special place in his heart for two reasons. For one, it will be the first time his fans can hold a physical copy of his music — thanks to his deal with Glassnote Records. Secondly, it was the culmination of everything he’s worked on. “There were songs that we made, and I was like, ‘This can’t be on the album.’ I felt like that was a thing of growth. There [would be] other times when I was like, ‘Oh, this song is dope. We’ll just throw it on there too.’ But this one was like, ‘No. We have to stick to the theme and the idea of what I’m trying to say.’ ” What are you expecting from Childish Gambino’s debut? Jonas Brother’s debut solo album dropped Tuesday. By Jocelyn Vena Joe Jonas Photo: Dave J Hogan/ Getty Images Joe Jonas is living the FastLife on his first-ever solo album, released Tuesday (October 11). The singer, now in his 20s, is no longer singing about the nuances of puppy love. Instead, he’s all grown up, singing about heartbreak and romantic turmoil. “It was scary in the beginning, just because I knew this is my one opportunity to show people my journal: the good and bad of every relationship I’ve been in, you know, [and] what I look for [in relationships],” he told MTV News . After launching onto the scene as one-third of the Jonas Brothers, he’s ready to show the world his pop&B side. Boasting production and writing credits from Rob Knox, Brian Kennedy, Danja and even Chris Brown, Jonas worked closely with his crew and helped co-write almost every song on the album. In the process, he managed to snag up enough of his own solo swagger to get Lil Wayne on the remix of his second single, “Just in Love.” “I feel like this is a good time in my life to be doing this solo project,” he explained. “I’m just ready to play music. I’ve been promoting a lot and hustling around all over America and Europe, talking about the album, and now I just get to play, and that’s my favorite thing to do.” The hustle to spread the gospel of FastLife has been happening for months now. After releasing two singles, “See No More” and “Just in Love,” he recently wrapped up a tour with Jay Sean and will open for Britney Spears in Europe later this month. Jonas said he loves to perform and touring has been a way to get his music out to the masses. That music shows a new side of the star musically. Instead of pop-rock, his songs are R&B and dance tracks reminiscent of fellas like Brown. “A song I’m most excited about right now is a song called ‘FastLife.’ Performing it live is so much fun,” Jonas explained. “Doing a lot of dancing and stuff, it’s cool for people to see; it’s a little bit different. It’s fun for me to be up there doing it. “I feel like it’s a fun dance song. A lot of people want to have fun listening to it and dancing to it,” he continued. “The song is just about pretty much living life to the fullest, enjoying life, going out with your friends and having fun.” Even as he releases the album, he’s always thinking about what else he can do. “I love to make music,” he said. “I’m always creating. It doesn’t stop that creating bug. It’s just something that I always do.” Share your thoughts on FastLife in the comments below!

Drake wanted to give his fans (and himself) a birthday present this year but his next album Take Care has been pushed to November. Drizzy made the announcement on his website today, explaining that sample clearances have prevented the album from being released on October 24, the original date. The new date for Take Care is November 15th, 2011. I managed to create this album in my hometown of Toronto and the thoughts and stories I wanted to get across just became so clear. It truly felt like when I was here 3 years ago making So Far Gone. So I have completed 19 songs (17 on physical and 2 on bonus), and have run into a roadblock of clearing 3 samples in time to make the October 24th date. My options were to take the songs off and make the birthday release happen, or to take an extra couple weeks to get the paper work right and give you the album they way I NEED you to hear it. The choice was clear as day for me. November 15th you will get Take Care the exact way I created it with no trimmings.
