The two decided to team up and develop a solution. The app—which was founded in 2015—connects barbers and customers. Through SQUIRE, individuals can find barbershops in their area, read customer reviews, and book appointments. Customers also have the opportunity to pay for their haircuts through the app. SQUIRE goes beyond simply booking haircut appointments, it provides barbers throughout the country with the platform to sell products and promote their brand. There is a wide range of shops that are included in the app’s directory, including large high-end shops and small locally owned businesses. The app was launched in New York and expanded to cities like Atlanta, San Francisco and Los Angeles. It now features barbershops in 28 cities. Since its inception, there have been $100 million in transactions processed through the app. The fundraising round was led by Trinity Ventures. “Millions of men need haircuts daily and are looking to find the right barbershop, but the process is usually unnecessarily hard and time consuming,” said Salvant in an interview with Forbes . “SQUIRE lets you locate a barber, schedule your appointment and pay from anywhere you are, now making the process quick and convenient.” The entrepreneurs plan on putting the money raised towards marketing and hiring engineers to work on the app’s infrastructure. “In talking to customers, we realized there was a lot of opportunity to build value in a backend management system,” LaRon said in a statement, according to TechCrunch. Both LaRon and Salvant are carving out a space in an industry that is worth billions. According to Statista , the barber industry is expected to be valued at $26 billion by next year. Ronald Eugene Griffin had been pursuing Berry’s home since the beginning of this year. TMZ reports that he was first seen trespassing on her property in January when her gardener caught him messing with her locks. Griffin returned in March with a locksmith claiming that he was the owner of the house and even had a fake deed to the home. When Berry’s employees saw him trying to get into the home they confronted him, only for Griffin to call the police and accuse them of trespassing on his property. Thousands of people attended McDonald’s “Black & Positively Golden” experience at BETX at LA’s Staples Center over the weekend. BJ The Chicago Kid performed an intimate set Saturday afternoon. The R&B artist performed songs like “Turnin Me Up,” and songs from his new album, “1123,” out July 26. Before the set, BJ told BOSSIP he’s been “golden” since day one: “I used to sing background for Jill Scott. She made me golden!” Fans were treated to a dance-off, chicken McNuggets and fries and a mobile studio where they could produce their own songs. And fresh off of his set at the Staples Center the night before, we spotted Lil Yachty visiting the mobile studio. Yachty told us that he was “chilling,” but would be back in the studio soon. We've already reported on the winners at the 2019 BET Awards , but the real winners were those of us who watched Cardi B perform. No, scratch that — the real winner was Offset, because of his role in her performance. Cardi gave him a wild and tantalizing lapdance on stage and it was the best part of the night. Take a look: On Sunday, Cardi B made it very clear that she was nervous about her upcoming performance. “Sooo I’m opening the show today,” Cardi wrote to her fans and followers. “And,” she admitted. “My anxiety is killing me.” That is a great reminder that part of Cardi's enduring popularity is that she is deeply relatable. “Wish me luck guys,” Cardi concluded, adding: “BET AWARDS!” Offset marched out onto the stage and performed. Comparing Offset's appeal and Cardi's is … wildly unfair to Offset, so we'll just skip right to Cardi's appearance. After Offset's male dancers (and the cameras) provided a distraction, the men pull back. We see Offset seated in a chair and receiving one hell of a lapdance from his gorgeous wife. Now, it's Cardi's turn to perform, rapping and singing to the camera. All the while, she's sitting and grinding upon her husband. The Twitter denizen used a pair of laughing emojis to correctly convey the absurdity of that comment. Cardi replied, and she found a very on-brand way to sidestep having to insult her husband. She quote-tweeted the fan's words, writing: “But let’s see who going to K.O first after sex tonight tho ?” Cardi kind of opened herself up to jokes about how she apparently used to drug and rob men, there. However, she also tweeted about what a good night she was having despite her anxiety. “I finally met taraji !!!!!!” Cardi exclaimed with glee. “The universe was trying to stop the link -___-” She also gave the overall experience a glowing review. “The @BET awards was so lit,” Cardi announced. “Everybody turn the f–k up from Beginning to End.” Of course, not all of Cardi's weekend was filled with fun … or filled with Offset . See, a grand jury voted to indict her for that Cardi-beatdown she allegedly ordered against a pair of strippers she accused of hooking up with Offset.
