When The Checks Stop Coming In: Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club In Atlantic City Officially Closes Down

Sandy came in and shut isht down at the Atlantic City 0/40 club Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club In Atlantic City Officially Shuts Down After seven years in business, the Atlantic City location of Jay-Z’s ever-popular 40/40 club has officially closed its doors. A spokesperson for the club recently confirmed the closing, stating that while the venue has had a good run, it has not been operational since October 2012 when the club was massively damaged during hurricane Sandy. via Press Of Atlantic City The 40/40 Club, an upscale sports bar, nightclub and restaurant in Atlantic City, has waved-in its last celebrity. The $4 million, two-level facility co-owned by hip-hop superstar Jay-Z closed in October, said Cristin Bentz, assistant general manager for Tanger Outlets The Walk. “Our leasing team is actively and diligently working to bring a great new tenant into the space. Stay tuned,” Bentz said. Ron Berkowitz of Berk Communications in New York, the 40/40’s spokesman, said the club’s lease ended in October, the same month that Hurricane Sandy hit, causing tremendous water damage inside the club. The club has not been operational since then. “There was a big hole in the roof as well,” Berkowitz said Wednesday. “With the end of the lease and with Sandy, we decided we had a great run, and it was time to move on.” Between Hubby Hov  and his blonde-haired boo-thang signing million-dollar deals every other month in addition to   the opening of another 40/40 club at the Barclays Center last year, we somehow doubt he’ll miss this money,

The Big Payback: Judge Overturns Attorney General’s Settlement Of James Brown’s Multi-Million Dollar Will, Claims Majority Of Money To Go To Charity

People turn into pure savages when they smell a little gwap in the air Supreme Court Judge Overturns Attorney General’s Settlement Of James Brown’s Estate Via NYPost The South Carolina Supreme Court yesterday overturned a settlement dividing up the multimillion-dollar estate of James Brown, saying a former attorney general didn’t follow the late soul singer’s wishes in putting together the deal. State Attorney General Henry McMaster brokered a settlement in 2009 that split Brown’s estate, giving nearly half to a charitable trust, a quarter to his widow, Tomi Rae Hynie, and leaving the rest to be split among his adult children. But the justices ruled that the deal ignored Brown’s wishes for most of his money to go to charity. The court also ruled the Godfather of Soul was of sound mind when he made his will before dying of heart failure on Christmas Day 2006 at age 73. The court sent the estate back to a lower court to be reconsidered. The justices did agree with the lower court’s decision to remove Brown’s original trustees. Members of Brown’s family said they wanted them gone because the trustees mismanaged the estate until it was almost broke. The court said it had no idea what the estate was worth, giving an estimate of $5 million to more than $100 million. Moral of the story: Don’t mess with the will of the Soul Brother Number 1.
