Feds Approve Box-Office Futures

Hooray! Finally, your impulse to short sell every crappy remake, reboot and sequel has received official approval in Washington. The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission has given its blessing to the Trend Exchange, which could commence betting on box-office futures by the end on July. (The first movie named as a possible subject is Takers , which opens Aug. 20.) The MPAA remains furious about the whole thing, but once they get the hang of flop insurance , there’s no doubt they’ll come around. [ THR ]

Moonlighting: The Cast of Mad Men and Their Summer Movie Appearances

The AMC marketing department is nothing if not creative. To wit: They premiered the pilot episode of Rubicon on Sunday with nary a bit of promotion — it wasn’t even mentioned on the cable guide! — and were able to create a modicum of buzz by doing so. Such parlor tricks aren’t needed to goose interest in the return of Mad Men (July 25th — you’re welcome! ), but a trip to the multiplex will make you wonder: Did those sneaky bastards use the summer movie season as a guerilla marketing campaign to promote the denizens of Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce? January Jones Hits, Runs, Returns

According to the LAPD, the Mad Men star fled the scene after driving her Range Rover into not one, not two, but three vehicles late Thursday. Jones, who reportedly said she couldn’t “deal with this commotion,” later returned to explain to cops that she was being hounded by paparazzi. And why? Notes TMZ : “[P]hotos of her doing a ‘walk of shame’ were all over the Internet yesterday, showing her arriving home in a taxi in the same dress she wore to an event the night before.” Good grief. Where’s Alison Brie to run interference when you need her? [ TMZ ]

Are Community’s Annie and Glee’s Rachel Separated at Birth?

They look alike, kinda sound alike — minus the singing voices — and play characters with the same intense personality traits. So why wouldn’t Community star Alison Brie Glee ‘s Lea Michele shop at the same store? Or at least the same wardrobe department. Twice this past season, Brie’s Annie and Michele’s Rachel were caught wearing the same argyle sweaters on their respective television shows. Weird! Considering the volume of fan fiction Brie likely inspired when came out as a ” Queen of Copulation ,” this quasi-pairing with Michele will probably be a fruitful one for fans of television character-based erotica. Alison Brie is Half Jewish and Half Naked in Complex of the Day

Alison Brie is a half Jewish actress on Mad Men and now she is half naked in Complex. She’s gone a long way from performing at her local Jewish Community Center where she was trying to prove that she was as Jewish than the other Jewish kids even though she was only half the Jew she wished she could be….while the real Jews had better things to do than hang at the Jewish Community Center since they didn’t come from homes with only one Jewish parent, they were comfortable in their skin and didn’t have the same identity issues, so spent their days smoking weed and yelling at their Filipino/Mexican nannies instead…. The funny thing about Alison Brie is that her and I have something in common, we both worked as clown’s at children’s birthday parties, only she ended up on TV and I ended up with a restraining order and court ordered substance abuse classes
