Lady Gaga Opens Up About Sometimes Feeling ‘Worthless’

Singer discusses being bullied as a child and her plan not to speak to the media ‘for a very long time’ on ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter.’ By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga talks with Oprah in “Oprah’s Next Chapter” Photo: Harpo/OWN Lady Gaga confessed she wants to have enough children to form a “soccer team” when she sat down with talk show maven Oprah Winfrey for “Oprah’s Next Chapter.” In the intimate chat, which took place at Gaga’s childhood home in New York City, the never-press-shy Gaga made another big announcement on the show. “Other than this interview, Oprah, I don’t intend to speak to anyone for a very long time. I have to shut out the noise,” Mother Monster told Winfrey, according to Gossip Cop . “The latest thing I do is I don’t read a damn thing. No press, no television. If my mom calls and says, ‘Did you hear about?’ I don’t want to know nothing about anything that is going on … I shut it all off.” Gaga’s mother was on hand for parts of the interview, sharing that in Gaga’s early days, her father thought she had a “screw loose” while she was performing at downtown New York nightclubs in her bra while lighting hairspray on fire. The superstar added that there’s one thing about her current act that her mother isn’t a big fan of. “She doesn’t like when I swear,” Gaga said, with her mother adding, “You’re effective without it.” Another part of the candid chat also focused on Gaga’s youth, during which she said she was frequently bullied. “There really is no difference between the bully and the victim,” she said. “I would like to do a psychological autopsy on as many bullies and victims as possible … How do we understand what breeds hatred, what breeds anger?” She added that despite all “all the praise you receive, something inside of you is scarred by those experiences … sometimes I feel worthless.” Parts of the special were also filmed at Harvard University last month. The singer and the talk show host were on hand at the prestigious college to launch Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation . “I just have one thing to say before we get started: We got Oprah! … Thank you from all of us — from my entire team, from my mother, from the bottom of the hearts of so many people who believe in what we’re doing today,” Gaga said at the launch. She explained that the foundation seeks to empower the youth of America, adding, “How can we inspire young people to know they have the power to be brave?” Related Videos MTV First: Lady Gaga Related Artists Lady Gaga

Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter at WonderCon: Boomsticks and Train Fights and Freedom, Oh My

Saturday at WonderCon, Timur Bekmambetov debuted new footage and and a 3-D trailer for his upcoming revisionist fantasy-actioner history lesson Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter — the Seth Grahame-Smith-penned retelling of how America’s 16th President saved the nation… from vampires. Watch the 2-D version of the trailer after the jump and marinate on the wholly new lessons we can learn from the saga of Honest Abe — or, as star Benjamin Walker explained to the crowd in Anaheim: “As an American, I want to know that my leaders are strong and have the capacity to make decisions — and cut some heads off.” The new trailer squeezes in some backstory between the insane amounts of axe-twirling action on display, depicting why Lincoln is so hell-bent on ridding his country of the insidious new vampire scourge — they killed his family, and he wants revenge. Bekmambetov, Walker, and Grahame-Smith (who adapted his own novel) were on hand to give context to the seeming silliness of their high concept film; supernatural bloodsuckers aside, their tale follows the real-life achievements and events that made Lincoln one of history’s best-loved presidents. The trio described their version on Lincoln’s life as a “superhero origin story” in which the movie Lincoln fights for what the real Lincoln did hundreds of years ago: In a nutshell, freedom. Additional footage shown gave an expanded glimpse of how the vampire-slayer metaphor works within a larger historical context. In it, Lincoln and his cohort William Johnson (Anthony Mackie), prepare for a vampire assault as they travel by train to Gettysburg. “It’s 80 miles from here to Gettysburg,” growls Lincoln “80 miles will decide if this nation belongs to the living or the dead.” Lincoln and Johnson proceed to chop and blast their way through a gaggle of vampires, with Lincoln making swift and economical use of his trusty axe. (Grahame-Smith and Bekmambetov took inspiration from the real-life Lincoln’s handiness with the tool.) At one point atop the moving train, Lincoln and Johnson work in tandem to fend off their attackers — the President and his African-American friend, literally battling evil together. Look for more on Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter in Movieline’s upcoming chat with Bekmambetov.

Bobbi Kristina Brown: Engaged to Pseudo Step Brother?

Bobbi Kristina Brown and Nick Gordon are heating up their relationship, and they don’t care what anyone thinks about it. The 19-year old daughter of Whitney Houston went public this week with the fact that she’s dating Gordon, a 22-year old who her mother took in many years ago and raised as her own child. Since then, the pair has been spotted in public kissing and holding hands, with a source telling Us Weekly Bobbi and Nick are residing in a house in Atlanta – and are engaged! “The situation is beyond sad,” this insider says of Brown and Gordon . “Whitney never formally adopted Nick, but he lived with her and Bobbi Kristina from the age of twelve and they were raised like brother and sister. Nick came from a really bad background.” This mole adds that Bobbi is open about the engagement, showing off a huge diamond ring to friends and saying it formally belonged to her mother. If she and Nick truly do go through with a marriage, it will be met with opposition from family members. Cissy Houston reportedly came out this week and labeled the relationship ” incestuous .”

Courtney Robertson and Ben Flajnik Just Might Work, Bachelor’s Chris Harrison Opines

The Bachelor host Chris Harrison spoke to reporters via conference call today and shared his thoughts on the re-engaged Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson. Chris paints a fair portrait of the controversial couple, and sympathizes with Courtney (though he concedes he and his family were Team Lindzi from the start). Will the couple make it? Will we see them on TV again? And what was it like whipping out that ring on the After the Final Rose special? So many questions. Excerpts from his lengthy interview on all of that and more below: On whether he’s rooting for rooting Ben and Courtney : “Of course I’m rooting them on. You know, why wouldn’t you?” “I mean, I know that she wasn’t the most popular choice and that if you put it to America’s vote maybe she wouldn’t have been in it, but I think the important thing and the great thing about the show is that was Ben’s choice.” “Why not respect that? Who am I not to respect that? And so of course I wish them the best and the million dollar question, will they make it? Who knows? Who’s to say which couples make it in life? But I wish them the very best.

Maria Menounos Failed Dancing with the Stars Body of the Day

I like to think this is just an awkward shot of Maria Menounos running around on the set of Dancing With the Stars….you know that her hips are lying and that this is just some weird optical illusion…because she’s been growing on me….ever since she FLASHED HER PUSSY ON THE BEACH ….I’ve started paying attention…cuz any girl who flashes her pussy on the beach….is a friend of mine….cuz I love seeing pussy…. But maybe that friendship put blinders on my eyes…and all I saw was this toned body on a bitch that is greeek and loves anal…cuz here I am wondering why someone who normally looks so good….looks like a fat middle aged woman trying to get in shape before her daughters wedding….and that’s very sad…I guess her dancing in half naked outfits will be all she can do to redeem herself on this dark, lonely day in the life of Maria Menounos. Some Courtney Stodden Bikini Ass of the Day

I don’t know if these pics are new or old. I can’t be bothered to look it up cuz the fact that Courtney Stodden exists depresses me…but not as much as the fact that I know who she is. Whenever I hear her name….I am forced to remember how fucking retarded America is, buying into tabloid lies and scandals instead of making their own fucking scandals, we’ve lost our fucking souls…..you know because there was time we would be out trying to get 16 year old brides….and now we just let no name idiots do it for the sake of entertainment….like a gang of fucking pussies….especially when you look at this bitch…from ass to fake tits….from face to fake tan…and see that there’s no way she’s a day younger than 30….you’ve all been had….and for some reason when I see pics of her in here thong…whether they are new or old…I feel the need to revisit this shit like it matters…I’m a fucking sucker…but at least I am aware of what I’m doing here. What Will You Buy With Your First Big Hollywood Paycheck?

Will it be as cool as Jonah Hill’s Rolex ? “It is an expensive watch. My dad said — my dad’s a watch guy — when you get any little bit of money, I want you to go out and buy a watch that you can’t afford, because you’ll have it for the rest of your life, and every time you look at what time it is, you’ll see how hard you’ve worked. That you’ve worked for that watch.” [ The Awl ]

REVIEW: Madre de Dios! Will Ferrell and Co. Make Casa de Mi Padre One Long, Perfunctory Inside Joke

For a movie with a comedic premise this simple – essentially: can you believe we made a movie with a premise this simple? – Casa de Mi Padre can feel pretty exhausting. Its comic arsenal is laid bare by the end of the credits sequence: There is Will Ferrell playing a Mexican ranchero and speaking Spanish; Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal as narco peacocks; telenovela melodrama played absurdly straight; self-conscious B-budget goofing; and plenty of guns and flames for ambiance. Are you not entertained? A credits sequence or SNL sketch or Funny Or Die video is the natural habitat for this kind of hit-and-run goof. Conan O’Brien, playing the fiery Conando, made his telenovela riff Noches de Pasión a regular feature on his show a few years back, and a few minutes is really all it takes to get the job done. Ferrell has worked with his collaborators – director Matt Piedmont and writer Andrew Steele – at both SNL and Funny or Die, and like last year’s Your Highness , Casa de Mi Padre has the feeling of a very inside joke. The story of how the cowardly dupe Armando Alvarez (Ferrell) defends his family from drug-war fallout is told in terms so self-consciously broad that the “joke” becomes obscure again, suggesting that rarefied sense of what’s funny that comedians often develop after a couple of decades on the job. For most of the rest of us it quickly becomes a struggle to find – or desperately root out – humor in much of the re-heated genre spoofing. The house of the title belongs to Miguel (Pedro Armendáriz Jr., who passed away this December), father to Armando and the prodigal Raul (Luna), who returns home at the beginning of the film with a fiancée to die for named Sonia (Genesis Rodriguez). When it turns out that Raul has actually made his fortune running drugs, he earns the scorn of his brother and a bounty on his head, levied by fellow drug lord Onza (Bernal). Armando and Sonia clamp eyes on each other frequently and for long, fraught moments: Is she the worthless coke whore she seems to be or the woman of his dreams? Ferrell is eminently silly as a Latin buffoon with “the eyes of a small chicken” and a heart of gold, and Luna and Bernal are as fun to watch in polyester leisure suits as they are out of them. A blend of location shooting and obvious sets contribute – along with purposefully jumpy edits and one long memo from the second camera assistant explaining the omission of a coyote attack – to the general celebration of shitty aesthetics. There are also boisterous campfire songs about the joy of knowing nothing, mildly subversive slaps at the DEA and an America full of drug-hoovering babies, lavish shoot ’em ups that linger over the explosion of visible blood packets, and one love scene comprised of extensive butt-kneading and Ferrell’s seamless transition into mannequin form and back again. Every once in a while a laugh might take you by surprise – the chicken eyes line did it for me – but the downfall of this kind of long-con comedy is that too often its terminal drollery feels like having the same joke explained to you, over and over again. At the same time the ironic layering feels tiresome rather than intuitively clever or witty, adding barriers between you and the funny part. Ferrell and company reportedly made the Hispanic audience – a huge moviegoing market – a big part of the plan of making and selling Casa de Mi Padre . Weirdly, that kind of calculation feels completely in line with a comedy that manages to be both as “crazy” and as perfunctory as this one. Follow Michelle Orange on Twitter .
