Starting October 9, new episodes of Rhythm + Flow will roll out each Wednesday, with different phases of the competition featured across 10 hour-long episodes. Source: Paras Griffin/BET / Getty Now that Coming to America 2 is officially a go, casting news is slowly being revealed and the latest news has Prince Akeem’s original love interest Lisa (Shari Headley) returning for the sequel. Just a week after word spread that Wesley Snipes, Rick Ross and Leslie Jones would be joining the original cast, Deadline is reporting that Shari Headly will indeed be returning to reprise her role as Lisa McDowell, but whether or not she’ll be Queen Lisa McDowell Joffer remains to be seen. According to previous reports the plot around Coming to America 2 revolves around Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) ready to take the reigns as King of Zamunda when he learns that he has a son living in Queens that he’s never known named Lavelle. At the request of his father King Jaffe Joffer (James Earl Jones), Akeem takes to America to find his bastard son and bring him back to the kingdom and groom him to take the throne when his time comes. Whether or not that son was conceived with someone other than Lisa McDowell or it is their son but they separated before she told him she was pregnant is anyone’s guess at this point. Either way we’re still be heading down to the show to see what comedic shenanigans Eddie Murphy and company have in store for us. Coming to America 2 is slated to release December 18, 2020.

Deadline reports that Amos will be reprising his role has Cleo McDowell, founder of the McDowell’s fast-food franchise and father of Prince Akeem (Eddie Murphy) love interest Lisa McDowell (Shari Headley). However, there has still been no announcement on whether or not Headley will be returning. He’ll be joining returning actors like Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall and James Earl Jones as well as Wesley Snipes, Jermaine Fowler and Leslie Jones, who be portraying new characters. Reportedly, in the new film Prince Akeem is going to become the King of Zamunda but then finds out he has a son back in America he didn’t know about named Lavelle. So he and Semmi (Hall ) return to the states to groom as a final wish for his father. Coming To America 2 is due in theaters on Dec. 18, 2020.
B owie State University is on a mission to increase the representation of Black male teachers in Maryland classrooms. According to the Journal of Blacks in Higher Education , the HBCU is launching a center that will focus on empowering and supporting Black male teachers and students. The center will provide resources for Black men who are educators within Maryland’s school system. There will be forums, trips, and mentoring programs for participants. For its inaugural year, the center seeks to recruit up to 50 locally-based students to join the program. The center’s leadership team aims to engage teachers who will focus on STEM education. The initiative is being led by associate professor Julius Davis . “It feels great to know that the University System of Maryland thought that it was worth the investment to create a center for research and mentoring of Black male students and teachers at a historically Black university,” Dr. Davis said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “I’m excited to start working with the young men. I do research, but I really want to impact what’s going on in the community, where the work matters most. I hope that it will create a national reputation for Bowie State to be a center for excellence for looking at black male students and black male teachers.” News about the creation of the center comes at a time where teachers of color are underrepresented. According to Teach for America , only 2 percent of teachers in American public schools are Black men. The lawsuit was filed in Philadelphia’s Court of Common Pleas and alleges that a former scout was abused hundreds of times starting at age 12 for a period of about five years in the 70’s by a former scout leader. The lawsuit also states that the Boy Scouts of America organization knew about the abuse and intentionally covered it up. The victim is seeking $50,000 in damages from both the Boy Scouts and the individual scoutmaster. The organization also claims to have gathered testimony from more than 800 sexual abuse victims identifying more than 300 predators protected by the Boy Scouts across the United States. The organization chose to file this suit now amid worries that victims may not be entitled to recovery if the Boy Scouts file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, a move the Boy Scouts of America has reportedly been considering. .
