Don’t let the do’ knob hit ya where the good Lord split ya According to ESPN Los Angeles Lakers coach Mike Brown has been fired after a 1-4 start to the season, a source tells ESPNLosAngeles.com’s Ramona Shelburne. It is not known yet who will take over for him, but a source indicated to Shelburne that one of assistant coaches Bernie Bickerstaff or Chuck Person will take over on an interim basis. Earlier Friday, sources had told ESPN.com’s Marc Stein that the team was using its upcoming six-game homestand to evaluate Brown, but after numerous discussions over the past 48 hours, Lakers management came to a unanimous decision that the team wasn’t heading in the right direction. The Lakers have had a healthy Steve Nash in the lineup for only 1½ of their five games so far thanks to a leg injury, while fellow newcomer Dwight Howard has acknowledged that he’s still recovering from the back surgery that brought a premature end to his 2011-12 campaign and knocked him out of the London Olympics. Kobe Bryant has also been playing through a foot ailment. The Lakers are off to the worst start in the Western Conference despite carrying the league’s largest payroll at just over $100 million, which would trigger an estimated luxury-tax bill at season’s end of nearly $30 million. Welp, that didn’t take long. Based on the look on Kobe’s face the other night, he’s not gonna miss him too much. Image via Wally Skalij /Los Angeles Times
Mike Brown’s days as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers just may be numbered. This theory isn’t anything new considering the team’s slow start to season. But the volatility of Brown’s precipitous situation has been punctuated by the stare down Kobe Bryant gave him during last night’s loss to the Utah Jazz… Continue
Another one bites the dust?? Vanessa Bryant Says She Would Never Do A Reality TV Show If you guessed false, then you guessed right. Kobe’s ride or die wifey chick says she’s “100%” not in favor of putting her family’s personal life on blast. While it would be interesting to see what family like with the Bryant’s is like behind closed doors, Vanessa, the former wife of NBA superstar Kobe, shot down the possibility of having a camera crew follow her family’s day-to-day activities. Vanessa, who was married to the 34-year-old Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard since she was 18-years-old, knows only too well what it’s like to be a ‘real’ basketball wife, making sure the couple’s two daughters are well taken care of, allowing Kobe to focus on what he does best: play basketball. But the 30-year-old made it clear that she had no intention of showcasing her family’s antics with the world, during an interview with Giuliana Rancic’s lifestyle site, FabFitFun.com. Said Vanessa when questioned on the prospect of a reality TV show: “Absolutely 100% no. Kobe and I were approached to do a reality show after Nick and Jessica started Newlyweds, then they wanted my friend La-La and I to do one, years ago. I really enjoy my privacy and I love being my goofy and sarcastic self with family and friends. I certainly don’t want to enable people to think they have a significant opinion on what goes on in my life,” she added. Although she’s been constantly labeled a ‘gold-digger’ over the years, it seems Vanessa really does seem to put family first! Hmmmm….we’re thinking Vanessa just might be telling the truth since she’s remained out of the limelight for the most part so far…but you never know. Source
Maybe they should change their names to the Oklahoma City Janitors… The Oklahoma City Thunder Beat The Los Angeles Lakers 77-75 In Game 2 Of Western Conference Semi-Final Even down late, the Oklahoma City Thunder are showing that they are never out. Kevin Durant scored 22 points and rattled in the go-ahead basket on a baseline runner with 18 seconds left, and the Thunder scored the final nine points to rally for a 77-75 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals Wednesday night. Oklahoma City trailed by seven with 2 minutes left before surging back with a series of defensive stops by its stars to claw back from that deficit in the closing stages of a game for the second time this postseason. The Thunder were also seven down with 2 1/2 minutes left in Game 1 against defending NBA champion Dallas in the first round. “They won’t quit. That’s not in their DNA,” coach Scott Brooks said. “They’re not wired that way and if they were, they wouldn’t be here. We’re not going to win every game but we’re going to fight to the last second of the game and we did that tonight.” “If we would have gotten down on ourselves with 2 minutes to go, we would have lost by 12 and we would go to L.A. 1-1.” Instead, Oklahoma City takes a 2-0 lead into Game 3 on Friday night at Staples Center. Laker coach Mike Brown spoke on the Lakers sadness and despair. “It’s not good. I don’t think anybody’s happy in there (in the locker room),” coach Mike Brown said. ”We felt like we let one slip away.” Bryant was right at the heart of the meltdown, missing two shots and having a hand in two turnovers in the final 2 minutes. The first turnover came when Durant used his nearly 7-foot frame and impressive wingspan to come up with an energizing steal and fast-break chance. “He used his length on Kobe. Coming up with that steal was huge,”Brown said. “That’s what great players are supposed to do. They’re supposed to take on the challenge at the end of the game and he did. “He won the game for them, basically.” Do you think the Lakers have ANY chance at beating these young boys in OKC?? Metta World Peace has been very quiet over the last few weeks. Eerily quiet, in fact. Ever since he delivered the People’s Elbow to James Harden’s head during a largely meaningless Los Angeles Lakers versus OKC Thunder showdown (and got suspended for it), Peace has seemed content staying out of the limelight and waiting for his punishment to run its course. Unfortunately, that silence left folks with… Broadcasting platform : YouTube Source : Opposing Views Discovery Date : 08/05/2012 03:59 Number of articles : 3
Kenyon Martin is probably thankful he no longer plays in Denver right now! A woman, who some say previously stalked Martin walked onto the court during the Lakers/Nuggest playoffs game in Denver Sunday asking “Where is Kenyon,” before officials could stop her. Here’s the details: In a strange scene toward the end of Sunday’s Los Angeles Lakers Game 4 win over the Denver Nuggets, a misguided attendee decided to waltz onto the court just before halftime. According to local police and the Denver Post and Yahoo! Sports, 20-year-old Savannah McMillan-Christmas was immediately arrested for trespassing, released and will appear in court Monday. The woman, who nearly made it to the 3-point line from her courtside seat, apparently has some alleged history with the Denver Nuggets before. Here’s Yahoo! Sports’ Marc J. Spears, who tweeted from the game: Kurt Schwartzkopf, chief marketing officer at the Pepsi Center said the woman did not appear intoxicated, but was disoriented. He said the woman was picked up and taken home by her mother. Jackson said it was off-duty Denver officers at the game who cited McMillan and escorted her out. TNT reported that the woman had been banned from Pepsi Center in the past for stalking a former Nugget player. Yahoo Sports reported that she stalked Kenyon Martin when he was with the team. He released a statement that said he’d remain focused on Los Angeles’ drive to a title. “I’m saddened to learn of the accusations that were filed against me today. At this time I cannot comment further other than to say that my attorneys are working to gather all of the facts and evidence and I plan to cooperate completely with the authorities. “I’d like to apologize to the Lakers organization and to all of their fans for the untimeliness of these accusations. I promise to keep my focus and attention on the playoffs during this time and to helping my team win another championship.” Hill had a very strong opening game in the Lakers defeat of the Nuggets on Sunday, pulling down 10 rebounds to go with 10 points.
