What makes the situation worse, is that Lamar was traded for a draft pick. Not a good look at all, since he was previously supposed to be traded for NBA superstar Chris Paul. Lamar has been silent since all of the trade rumors about him have begun circulating heavily. Take a look at Kobe’s comments about his friend and teammate Lamar leaving the Lakers in the video below. Justin Bieber And Selena Gomez’s Arena Date: How Much Did It Cost?

A regular guy would have dropped serious coin to rent out the Staples Center for a romantic night out. By Gil Kaufman Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez (file) Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Membership has its privileges, and when the club you’re in is the elite pop star society, there isn’t much you can’t get your hands on. That’s why a teenager like Justin Bieber was able to swing the swankiest surprise date of all time with his squeeze Selena Gomez on Friday night when he treated her to dinner and a movie at the Staples Center . Now, before you get any ideas. The 20,000-seat home of the Los Angeles Lakers (and countless major concerts) is not available to just any Joe Schmo. No, Bieber reportedly got the keys to the palace for free because he’s sold the joint out three times and owner AEG Live figured they’d throw him a bone. Which got us thinking: What would it cost to treat your sweetie to a Bieber-esque night of steak and “Titanic”? Check out photos of Justin and Selena. As you might imagine, the powers-that-be at Staples weren’t really willing to spill the beans, but we crunched some numbers on our own and here’s what we were able to figure: $475,000 : That’s how much it would cost you to buy a high-end VIP luxury suite for 14 at the Staples Center, which would get you about 2,500 tickets a year to Lakers, Clippers and Sparks basketball games; L.A. Kings hockey games; concerts; lectures; X Games; and wrestling matches. Given that the venue holds 20,000, we can only imagine a one-night rental would run you well into the six figures. $200-plus : Bieber ordered steaks and pasta from the exclusive members-only Lexus Club at Staples, a 130-capacity high-end dining area where even the buffet will run you $57. Priceless : The lucky couple reportedly watched “Titanic” on their date. Now, most men would try to save a few bucks and rent the regular DVD, but given JB’s clear baller tendencies, is it safe to assume he called James Cameron and finagled an early copy of the 3-D anniversary Blu-ray edition that is due out in April? $299 to $1,199 : The price of renting an inflatable, 32- to 40-foot portable movie screen from FunFlicks.com for a special event. That is, assuming the Biebs did not make Gomez crane her neck and watch the whole movie on the Center’s Jumbotron. 194 : That’s how many minutes “Titanic” would run if JB didn’t have a remote that would allow him and Selena to skip some of the hours of extras. 2:30 a.m. : That’s about how late into the morning the couple would have had to stay at Staples in order to watch all of “Titanic,” assuming they started it as soon as they arrived at 11 p.m. and had it running during their meal. $300,000 : The amount Bieber pulls in nightly at each one of his concerts. $53 million : That’s how much Bieber banked in 2010 . In other words, don’t sweat it: He can afford this kind of date every night of the year if he wants to. What do you think of Justin’s date idea for Selena? Tell us in the comments! 5 Reasons Ron Artest Was Set Up By “Dancing With The Stars” [ORIGINAL]

Athletes usually have a long run on ABC ‘s “ Dancing with the Stars ,” but Los Angeles Laker Ron Artest (a.k.a. Metta World Peace) was the first to get the boot from the season 13 cast. Yes, Ron is a horrible dancer, but he could have had a longer run if he hadn’t been set up to fail! Here’s what prevented him from going far on “Dancing with the Stars”… Who’s That Chick? Instead of pairing Ron Artest with one of the popular professional dancers, he was paired up with new addition Peta Murgatroyd. Maybe this move prevented him from some additional votes? My Name Is Ron Artest’s name was officially changed to Metta World Peace before “Dancing with the Stars” premiered on September 19th, but he was more often referred to by his former name. Maybe there was voter confusion? Up First Ron Artest was the first to perform on the two-hour show on a competitive night of television. Maybe voters missed his chuckle-worthy performance? Laker Haters Either the Los Angeles Lakers are no longer as beloved as they used to be, or the Laker Haters unified and sent their votes to other dancers. Maybe the strength of the Laker Haters was too powerful? The “Crazy” Factor Ron Artest has earned a reputation for being a little nutty, but he danced to a song called “Crazy” by Pitbull! Maybe the song subconsciously turned voters against him? Was Ron Artest robbed by “Dancing With The Stars”? Take a look at his first and last performance on the show, and please leave your thoughts in the comments section at the bottom of this page.

“Basketball Wives: Los Angeles” Cast Revealed!

The rest is here:

“Basketball Wives,” VH1′s hit show, is going cross country to Los Angeles. Though the original series takes place in Miami, you’ll still see some familiar faces on the “LA” season when it airs on August 29. Gloria Govan, the wife of Matt Barnes (of the Los Angeles Lakers) who famously feuded with all the “Basketball Wives” when she appeared on the first season, has surprisingly signed on for the LA season. (We think it’s because she’s got her sister Laura Govan as back-up this time around. If you don’t remember, Laura was rumored to be having an affair with Shaq while Shaunie was married to him). The cast also includes: Kimsha Artest, wife of Los Angeles Laker Ron Artest Jackie Christie, wife of Doug Christie, former player for the Los Angeles Clippers Imani Showalter, ex-fiancée of Charlotte Bobcats’ Stephen Jackson SOURCE Will you be watching? “Basketball Wives” Gloria Govan & Sister Laura Govan Team Up For Spinoff Chris Bosh’s Baby Mama Sues Him For Blocking Her “Basketball Wives” Check 6 Reasons “Basketball Wives” Are Still Certified Hood Rats

NBA All-Stars LeBron James, Dwight Howard, More Talk Hoops, Hip-Hop

‘They say all rappers want to be basketball players, [and] all basketball players want to be rappers,’ says wife of Carmelo Anthony, La La Vazquez. By Alvin Blanco, with reporting by Rahman Dukes LeBron James Photo: MTV News Hip-hop and sports are practically kindred spirits, especially when it comes to basketball. At this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend , a number of hoop stars, and the wife of one player in particular, wholeheartedly agreed with this observation. “They always say all rappers want to be basketball players, [and] all basketball players want to be rappers,” La La Vazquez, wife of New York Knick Carmelo Anthony and ex-MTV VJ, told MTV News. Over the years, a number of NBA players have actually become rappers on the side. Besides four championships — three with the Los Angeles Lakers, one with the Miami Heat — Shaquille O’Neal also managed to release four albums. The first, 1993’s Shaq Diesel, went platinum and the third, 1996’s You Can’t Stop the Reign, featured a pair of verses from the Notorious B.I.G. on its title track. More recently, L.A. Laker Ron Artest has embarked on a rap career, while his teammate Kobe Bryant once kicked rhymes on R&B singer Brian McKnight’s “Hold Me.” Not every player necessarily has rap dreams to go along with their hoop dreams, though. “Every player except me wants to be a rapper,” said Dwight Howard of the NBA’s Orlando Magic. “I don’t want to do the rap thing.” Howard did add though about his fellow NBA stars, “We love music. We love hip-hop and we support it.” LeBron James, who is famously and charitably good friends with Jay-Z, mentioned how basketball players are frequently name-checked in song. For example, on Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind,” the MC rhymes, “Jesus paying LeBron, I’m paying Dwyane Wade.” This synergy between players and rappers ultimately boils down to mutual respect. “We all came from nothing,” Boston Celtic Kevin Garnett told us. “The appreciation factor for each other, the fact you gotta grind and work hard to get where you at, it’s similar. It’s a very similar industry.” Garnett’s teammate and fellow All-Star Rajon Rondo added, “We respect those guys the way they respect us. It kind of goes hand in hand. Rappers love to come see us play. We love to see them perform.” What do you think of the ongoing love between hip-hop and hoops? Sound off in the comments!
