Drake Thinks He’ll Call Sophomore Album Moments

‘It’s a game of moments,’ MC says of rap climate. ‘I’m the moment right now.’ By Jayson Rodriguez Drake Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images With a title like Thank Me Later, Drake doesn’t seem to think his moody, dense full-length debut is going to be easy to digest right away. Listeners will catch on eventually, though, and he’s willing to wait for their gratitude. But even before his first album is out, Drake seems to be predicting that he’ll be ready to bask in his success by the time he releases his sophomore run. According to the Los Angeles Times, Drake is flirting with the idea of naming his next album Moments. “Hip-hop is all about moments,” Drake told the newspaper. “You look at people who were hot three or four years ago who are sitting around reminiscing. It’s fickle. It’s a game of moments. I’m the moment right now.” For now, however, the So Far Gone star is concentrating on the highly anticipated release of Thank Me Later, which arrives Tuesday. Although the album leaked prior to its official release date, Drake tweeted he’s “good” despite the minor setback. “I gave away free music for years so we’re good over here,” Drake wrote. “Just allow it to be the soundtrack to your summer and ENJOY! JUNE 15th!” Earlier this year, Drake spoke with MTV News about his debut and what the process has taught him about his own life. “I’m learning about myself. That’s what my music is about,” he explained. “I don’t necessarily know all the time who Drake is. I take it day by day and learn as much as I can about myself. As I learn, I choose to share with my fans. I’m just an artist that isn’t scared of being open. “My journey, as far as growing into a man, is shared with the people,” Drake added. “My whole life is like that. I grew up on TV, I’ve always become accustomed to sharing my life with the world. At least now I get to do it in my own words … so I’m not a character. I have a little more grasp on who I am. I’m more eager to share it now. Me growing into an artist is me growing into a man.” What do you think about Drake’s potential album title? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Drake

Abby Sunderland Feared Lost at Sea, Rescue Efforts Underway

Authorities have begun a search for Abby Sunderland. The 16-year old is attempting to sail around the world on her own, but her parents lost contact with her this morning, soon before the teenager set off a distress signal. She’s believed to be in the southern part of the Indian Ocean. “Everything seemed to be under control,” father Laurence Sunderland told The Los Angeles Times . “But then our call dropped and a hour later the coast guard called.” A rescue effort, coordinated by the French-controlled Reunion Islands and Australia, is underway. However, Sunderland is likely hundreds of miles away from land and there’s concern over how long it would take a boat to reach her. Said family spokesman Christian Pinkston: “We’ve got to get a plane out there quick… They are exhausting every resource to try to mobilize an air rescue including discussions with the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Coast Guard and various international rescue organizations.” Meanwhile, Abby’s parents have updated their blog with this statement: Abby has all of the equipment on board to survive a crisis situation like this. She has a dry suit, survival suit, life raft, and ditch bag with emergency supplies. If she can keep warm and hang on, help will be there as soon as possible. Wild Eyes is designed for travel in the Southern Ocean and is equipped with 5 air-tight bulkheads to keep her buoyant in the event of major hull damage. It is built to Category 0 standards and is designed to self-right in the event of capsize. Thank you for all of your kind emails and calls. We appreciate your prayers and support. Let’s all hope Abby Sunderland is found alive and well.

Watch: LAPD Caught Kicking Cyclist at Anti-BP Protest

The Los Angeles Police Department has launched an internal investigation after one of its officers was caught on camera apparently kicking a cyclist during a protest against oil giant BP on Friday. According to the Los Angeles Times, the incident took place on Hollywood Boulevard during a “Critical Mass” cycling event. Critical Masses — which involve cyclists riding through the streets to call for cyclists' rights — typically take place on the last Friday of every month. This particular event targeted BP for its role in the Gulf oil spill. Video of the incident, which was posted to YouTube, shows what appears to be a police officer stepping out and kicking at a passing bicycle. “Whoa, what the f*** was that for?” the unidentified cameraman can be heard saying. Moments later, the video shows two officers converge on the cameraman and take him down to the ground. “Get up,” one officer can be heard saying, as another says “Stay down.” “What did I do?” the cameraman can be heard saying. added by: Omnomynous

David Archuleta is Rooting for Andrew Garcia

He may be releasing a book and working on a new album, but David Archuleta still has time to watch American Idol . Asked by The Los Angeles Times about the new crop of contestants, the season seven runner-up said: “I think they’re really talented. They show a lot of their own personalities, and I liked that about them. And there’s some really good singers, too. Like Andrew Garcia , I like the character that he’s shown. I feel like there’s a lot of pressure for them because people are now expecting them to change up the songs, and they’re not sure exactly what to be showing people. “It’s matter of balance – changing the song enough to show who you are but still preserving the song for what made it magical.” As for his upcoming CD? “I’ve been working on it since January, but I had my first writing sessions in the summer, and I went to Nashville to write in October. Then the Christmas album came out and sort of took over, but I go back to Nashville this week. I just want it to sound more like me. “I want people to say, ‘This is David talking.’ Instead of just interpreting – and I’m sure there will be songs like that – I want to focus on showing people who I am, what my personality is like and hoping that I leave an impression on people.” He’s already left an impression on many people. Years after he exited the Idol stage, David remains one of the show’s most popular alums.

Yung Berg Says Robbery Story Is A ‘Lie’

‘It’s crazy to me how one lie … could do these type of things,’ he says of tabloid reports. By Shaheem Reid Yung Berg Photo: MTV News Yung Berg says it wasn’t him this time. TMZ reported that Berg was one of the victims robbed for over $10,000 in cash and jewelry at a home in L.A. over the weekend. On Thursday (February 25), Berg told MTV News he has not been robbed and hasn’t even been in Los Angeles. “No, I been in Las Vegas,” Berg, born Christian Ward, said flatly. “It’s crazy to me how one lie from one person when you in the limelight and got this type of shine, one lie could do these type of things. I wasn’t going to speak about it because it was lie — the unfortunate thing is I got a family [that worries]. So my mom start calling me, my dad start calling me, ‘Are you hurt? Something wrong with you?’ There’s nothing wrong with me — I’m pretty as a newborn baby.” According to LAPD spokesperson Richard French, a home invasion and robbery happened around 1 a.m. at a house party in the 2200 block of Mulholland Drive in L.A. Four suspects — two males and two females — came to the party with handguns and robbed the partygoers of cash and jewelry. Police said that of the eight victims, two were pistol-whipped. French said there were multiple witnesses but added that he could not name the victims or the owner of the house. Multiple reports have claimed that the home in question was either owned by Interscope Records or one of their marquee artists, Diddy. The reps for the label and Diddy refuted the claims in Monday’s edition of the Los Angeles Times . “As far as we have been able to tell in this short time, we have never owned or rented a house at this address for any purpose,” Interscope publicist Yvette Gayle told the publication. The Times also reported that Diddy’s publicist Keesha Johnson said it was “completely inaccurate” to link Combs to the house. “Sean is not affiliated with the property in any capacity.” Ironically, Berg says his production work is going to be featured heavily on Diddy-Dirty Money’s upcoming Last Train to Paris LP — Berg has co-production credit on the single “Love Come Down.” The young rapper said that TMZ contacted him before their story went out and he told them it was untrue. “I don’t know if it’s somebody I know that called them and trying to do some fraud stuff,” Berg said. “They called my phone — they called my line the day before they put it out. I’m thinking it’s a prank. How did they get my phone number? I’m playing along, laughing with them, then I’m like, ‘I been in Vegas, dog. Don’t put that out.’ They were like, ‘I got a deadline.’ It was crazy. It was like a movie. To be in the Palms [hotel] recording, then get a phone call, ‘This is such and such.’ It is what it is. I’m blessed. I’m healthy, I’m doing my thing.” (A spokesperson for TMZ had not returned our calls as of press time.) Related Artists Yung Berg
