Lou Myers Dies; Different World Star Was 77

Lou Myers, who played Mr. Gaines on A Different World, has died. Myers passed away on February 19 at Charleston Medical Center in West Virginia after undergoing a heart-related emergency and falling into a coma. He had previously been hospitalized in December for pneumonia. A Different World ran from 1987-1993 and was conceived as a spinoff from The Cosby Show , in which the characters attended a historically black university. Myers starred on the show alongside Lisa Bonet and Jada Pinkett. In his later years, Myers would also make memorable appearances in The Wedding Planner, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Tin Cup and All About the Andersons .

PlayStation 4: Unveiled! Sort Of!

Sony made the announcement the tech world anticipated last night, telling fans at a New York City press conference that PlayStation 4 would be on sale this holiday season. But the electronics company didn’t reveal the device itself, much to the chagrin of many on the Internet. The price of PS4 has not yet been determined, said Jack Tretton, CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America. But it will likely go for approximately $500-$600, the same as PS3 when it debuted over six years ago. The PlayStation 4 console , meanwhile, will be part of a new ecosystem focused on hardware, software and “the fastest, most powerful gaming network,” according to Mark Cerny, Sony’s lead system architect on the item. PS4 will also… … have a Blu-ray disc drive. … lack the ability to play games created for previous PS editions. … feature a button that allows one to broadcast video of one’s game play virtually, across social networks. Labeling PS4 a “supercharged PC,” Tretton said: “One of the big challenges we faced in the past was that we created great technology that we handed over to the development community, and they had to go through a learning curve before they could harness it. And when they did, we saw some phenomenal games. We wanted to lower that barrier of entry and really give them the ability to create tremendous gaming experiences from Day One.”

The 29-city run kicks off its United States leg March 22 in Portland, Ore, and will hit selective towns throughout the west coast, midwest, and east coast until it lands in Brooklyn rapper’s backyard April 21. Kate Middleton Due Date: Revealed!

Kate Middleton is expecting a royal baby this July, her office confirmed Monday. That’s baby, singular. Rumors of Kate Middleton pregnant with twins? False. “Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to confirm they are expecting a baby in July ,” read the simple statement. “The Duchess’ condition continues to improve since her stay in hospital last month,” the statement also said, referring to her recent hospitalization. Kate sought treatment in early December for severe morning sickness; the now-infamous Kate Middleton prank call resulted in a nurse’s suicide. A Palace source confirms that Kate is not expecting twins, despite recent speculation. Also, the couple will not be revealing the sex of the baby. A July arrival would allow the baby to share the same birth month as William’s late mother Diana, Princess of Wales, who was born on July 1. Insiders say that the timing of the announcement means they have likely had their scans to show that the pregnancy is going according to plan. There is clear relief around the Palace, especially after her hospitalization, that they have been able to release the news. “Happy days,” said a source. Indeed. We wish them all the best. Four Shot, Killed on Rural Road in Pennsylvania

Four people were shot and killed on a rural road in Blair County, Pennsylvania, this morning after a shootout with state troopers, according to reports. A gunman shot three people dead and was later killed by authorities. The incident started at a farm early Friday near Geeseytown, Pa. In all, three men and one woman were killed in the shooting. Investigators suspect the shooter might have been driving when he opened fire on people for unknown reasons, the Pittsburgh Tribune Review reported. According to WTAJ, three state troopers were also injured. One of the troopers was shot but was wearing a bulletproof vest; two other troopers sustained non-life threatening injuries after an accident with the suspect. No other information has been released at this time. This is yet another scary incident involving gun violence in the week since the Newtown, Connecticut shooting , which has re-ignited the nation’s focus on the topic. Just this week, numerous people have been slain across the country from Colorado to South Dakota and across every region of the United States.

Miley Cyrus Denies "Tweet Heat" with Taylor Swift

In a pair of recent Tweets, Miley Cyrus made two things clear: She is not a slut. She has no beef with Taylor Swift. The singer made this announcement after acknowledging a Tweet from E!’s Ken Baker over the weekend, in which the reporter compared Miley’s love life with Swift’s dating history and implied Taylor gets around A LOT more. Because Cyrus re-Tweeted Baker’s post, it was easy to imply she was called Swift out. But Miley says she was simply defending her own reputation, writing of Baker: “People are idiots and call me a slut when I am engaged at 20 [because] I’m madly in love with one man. Just happy someone admitted it.” As for dragging Swift’s love life into the fray? “There is no tweet heat!” Cyrus insisted. “Don’t go trying to make this look like I started any kinda drama.” Okay, fair enough. In other Miley news: have you seen her crotch-grabbing impression of Billy Idol?!?
