Ozone Layer Could Recover to Pre-1980 Levels by 2045-2060, Says U.N.

But It Will Take Longer for Holes at the Poles According to a report titled “Scientific Assessment of Ozone Depletion 2010” by U.N. scientists, the ozone layer has finally stopped thinning and could recover to pre-1980 levels by 2045-2060, though the annual springtime ozone hole over Antarctica (pictured above) is not expected to recover until 2073.
