Where Have We Seen Chris Evans’ Skinny Captain America Before?

Depending on your mileage for superhero origin stories, the trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger was either totally awesome (Red Skull!) or totally blah (Red Skull?), but no matter how strong your geek heart beats, one part of the slick, 30-second spot demanded universal attention: Chris Evans’ transformation from bulky real-life actor to wimpy fictional soldier to bulky fictional superhero. As has been echoed at Internet watercoolers all day: How’d they do that? Perhaps the answer lies ahead.

Jessica-Jane Clement Is Very Talented

I’m not afraid to admit that I’m in love with this Jessica-Jane Clement woman, at least for now. Can you guess why? I’ll give you a hint, it’s not because she has a tacky stripper rose tattooed on her arm or that she’s probably got a British accent, but that’s all I’m saying. Anyhow, she’s all hot and bothered in her sexy lingerie, I love it, I want to touch it with my face. By the way, the answer to my earlier question was fat chesticles, that answer again, fat chesticles. Enjoy.

To paraphrase a frequently used expression around Movieline HQ, “God, can we just end this year?” (Usually minus the capitalization and punctuation, and often flavored with a few dashes of expletive spice depending on the mood of the day.) Finally — finally — the answer comes from above: “Yes.” But it wasn’t all bad — I even enjoyed some of it. To wit:

Michelle Orange’s Top 10 Films of 2010

Asking what films I’ve seen recently is a good way to wipe my brain clean. Once, in a job interview where it was clear the answer would determine my fate, all I could come up with was Calendar Girls , which would have been a poor choice even as a recent release, which it was not. Tabulation is not a strong suit. Rubrics wear me out. A recent report on people with brains like databases with total recall made me itch, and yet the chemistry made sense: An abundance of adrenaline caused ordinary events to imprint in their memories the way only extraordinary events — or even amazing shots, bravura scenes, and other bits of movie magic — do for the rest of us.

Canada NOT PREPARED for Major Oil Spill, Environment Commissioner Warns

Image: NASA , Public domain. An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Barrel of Cure… Canada has the longest coastline in the world (well, unless you want to be clever and get into the coastline paradox ), touching three different oceans, and one of them (the Arctic) is seeing rapid increases in shipping and oil exploration because of the melting ice.
