Woman Sings Anti-Domestic Violence Song From Hospital Bed Darrian Amaker claims her boyfriend tried to kill her last November 29th, when he invited her over at 3am and instantly began ruthlessly beating her. She recorded the above song from her hospital bed just days after she was attacked…and now has permanent swelling to her face as a result of her injuries. Via MailOnline : Calvert was in a ‘dating relationship’ with the victim and she went to his apartment at his request that night, according to the complaint. Once in the kitchen, Calvert allegedly grabbed her and struck her repeatedly in the face with a closed fist. The defendant then did slam the victim against the wall and floor of kitchen, intentionally causing serious physical injury, severe facial bruising and swelling to the victim’s face to the extent of both of her eyes swollen completely shut, while telling her “I’m going to kill you.”’, the complaint reads. Calvert then allegedly yelled at her to wake her up and poured water in her mouth causing her to vomit. She was then dragged up several flights of stairs by Calvert to his attic apartment, according to the police statement, where he continued to beat her about the face and head. She was allegedly physically restrained during the assault and. only managed to escape at 8am when her attacker fell asleep. Interesting response, right? More holiday positivity … Donor Pays Year’s Rent For Homeless Chicago Family An anonymous donor recently gave a homeless Chicago family a tremendous Christmas gift; a place to stay. The Huffington Post reports: Latoya Ellis, a single mother who lives with her three kids in Chicago, fell on hard times after she was laid off and eventually evicted from her apartment in August. While homeless, Ellis’ story was covered by local TV station ABC7 back in November, and after learning about the single mother and her family, many viewers felt compelled to help. Among those who reached out to the family, one thoughtful donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, gave them a life-changing gift — a year’s worth of rent. “I’m still in a state of shock!” Ellis told The Huffington Post of the donor’s incredible present. The single mother received a phone call earlier this month from the donor, who said he’d cover a year’s worth of rent at the apartment of the family’s choice. “It’s indescribable. I didn’t know how to process it,” Ellis said, recalling her reaction when she received the phone call. “No one has ever done anything like that for me.” The apartment, which Ellis says now has separate rooms for all her kids, isn’t the only surprise she received after her story aired. She says people have been donating everything from basic necessities, to job services, to presents for the kids. So sweet, nice to know there are still some good people in the world. Daniel Romain, 33, violently fought with girlfriend Tisa Kelly, 46, to leave his apartment on East 95th Street before his wife came home Saturday afternoon, the sources said. An upstairs neighbor said she could hear “loud banging” as if someone was being “thrown against walls” before police arrived. There was a short period of silence before a radio was turned up to full blast in an effort to mute the renewed fight, said the neighbor, Quinetta Wooten, 29. Police arrived an hour later and found Kelly’s naked body hog-tied and face-down in Romain’s shower with stab wounds to her neck, torso and back, sources said. Two knives and a pair of scissors were soaking in the sink in what smelled like bleach, police sources said. What sense does killing the girlfriend before his wife gets home even make? Neighbor Makes Burglary Call To Cops On Black Woman Entering Her Own Apartment You guys remember when Skip Gates had a run-in with the cops outside his house? Well apparently that wasn’t an anomaly. We were moved to tears by a recent tale shared by a black female executive named Fay Wells in the Washington Post . In her essay Wells recounts the events of Sept. 6, 2015 when she accidentally locked herself out of her apartment. She was late getting to her soccer game, so she decided to deal with it afterwards. A few hours later she called a locksmith and had just entered her apartment when things got noisy outside: I heard barking. I approached my front window and loudly asked what was going on. Peering through my blinds, I saw a gun. A man stood at the bottom of the stairs, pointing it at me. I stepped back and heard: “Come outside with your hands up.” I thought: This man has a gun and will kill me if I don’t come outside. At the same time, I thought: I’ve heard this line from policemen in movies. Although he didn’t identify himself, perhaps he’s an officer. I left my apartment in my socks, shorts and a light jacket, my hands in the air. “What’s going on?” I asked again. Two police officers had guns trained on me. They shouted: “Who’s in there with you? How many of you are there?” I said it was only me and, hands still raised, slowly descended the stairs, focused on one officer’s eyes and on his pistol. I had never looked down the barrel of a gun or at the face of a man with a loaded weapon pointed at me. In his eyes, I saw fear and anger. I had no idea what was happening, but I saw how it would end: I would be dead in the stairwell outside my apartment, because something about me — a 5-foot-7, 125-pound black woman — frightened this man with a gun. I sat down, trying to look even less threatening, trying to de-escalate. I again asked what was going on. I confirmed there were no pets or people inside. I told the officers I didn’t want them in my apartment. I said they had no right to be there. They entered anyway. One pulled me, hands behind my back, out to the street. The neighbors were watching. Only then did I notice the ocean of officers. I counted 16. They still hadn’t told me why they’d come. And this is exactly why there are such issues in this country. You can’t tell us that if this woman were white she would have been treated like this. They didn’t ask or explain anything!!! I learned that the Santa Monica Police Department had dispatched 19 officers after one of my neighbors reported a burglary at my apartment. It didn’t matter that I told the cops I’d lived there for seven months, told them about the locksmith, offered to show a receipt for his services and my ID. It didn’t matter that I went to Duke, that I have an MBA from Dartmouth, that I’m a vice president of strategy at a multinational corporation. It didn’t matter that I’ve never had so much as a speeding ticket. It didn’t matter that I calmly, continually asked them what was happening. It also didn’t matter that I didn’t match the description of the person they were looking for — my neighbor described me as Hispanic when he called 911. What mattered was that I was a woman of color trying to get into her apartment — in an almost entirely white apartment complex in a mostly white city — and a white man who lived in another building called the cops because he’d never seen me before. The plot thickens too. Once the confusion was sorted out Wells became pretty irate, asking for the names and badge numbers of the officers who responded. She also confronted her dumb neighbor, who wasn’t even apologetic: I introduced myself to the reporting neighbor and asked if he was aware of the gravity of his actions — the ocean of armed officers, my life in danger. He stuttered about never having seen me, before snippily asking if I knew my next-door neighbor. After confirming that I did and questioning him further, he angrily responded, “I’m an attorney, so you can go f— yourself,” and walked away. SMH. We’re not sure who is worse — the racist nebby neighbor or the overly aggressive racist cops. We hope that Wells gets some kind of justice — an investigation by the SMPD internal affairs, an apology, something. She’s suffered some pretty severe anxiety and trauma as a result of this incident so we hope she is able to get some relief from that very soon. Instead, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend Season 1 Episode 1 introduced viewers to Rebecca Bunch, a tightly-wound corporate lawyer whose personality has served her well at a firm in New York, but less well in her personal life. Basically because she has no personal life. But Rebecca takes it as some kind of sign when she runs into Josh Chan, her former summer camp crush, and then drops everything (her job, her apartment) to move to West Covina, California… where Josh happens to live! Nia Guzman Denies Relationship With “King Ba” Nia Guzman is officially clapping back against the public’s (and Chris Brown’s) perception of her as an opportunist out for a fat check now that she’s got Breezy’s baby. She’s also shutting down speculation that she and Royalty’s “other Daddy” King Ba have been in criminal cahoots together running phony checks all over Houston. Now that Chris is planning to bring his baby home with him for good , Nia is looking to clear the air. Nia says that the media has painted a poor picture of her in the past few months. She says that not only does she take care of Royalty all on her own , but has she long since broken any ties she has to “King Ba” — apparently prior to his criminal shenanigans — but she’s been forced out of Houston due to #TeamBreezy and paparazzi constantly waiting outside her apartment for a glimpse of her and little Royalty. Here’s an official statement from Nia’s rep: “The allegations that have been made against Nia Guzman are completely false. Nia has not been in a dating relationship with Ba for several months and she has no criminal record and has never took park in any criminal activity with Ba. Also, Nia is not trying to obtain any fame or additional money from Chris Brown other than the child support that is expected for the raising of their child and she asks that the press and general pubic would stop hurling false accusations at her and her daughter.” Well whether Nia has been in contact with King Ba or not…is’t definitely in her best interest to distance herself from him if she wants to have any sort of case in custody court against Chris.
