Safe to say Apollo Nida shouldn’t compare himself to T.I. if he’s at all smart, because the rapper and one of his associates just tore him a new one. The background: Nida, who’s married to The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks, pleaded guilty to fraud and identity theft earlier this week. In addition to Apollo Nida pleading guilty , he agreed – likely in exchange for sentencing leniency – to become a federal informant and help nail other crooks. Apollo is a snitch, in other words. A rat. T.I. Rips Apollo Nida Where does T.I. fit in? Because when the terms of Apollo’s plea deal were published, Nida Tweeted that T.I. and Michael Vick signed similar “snitching” deals. Let’s just say T.I. took issue with that. He and his boy Killer Mike (you don’t want to mess with a guy named Killer Mike, just saying) caught up with Nida in a parking lot Friday to discuss it. No one came to blows, but parts of the conversation were recorded and it was made abundantly clear to Apollo that he best not speak of T.I. ever again. T.I. told Nida that their cases were not similar (he’s correct, the rapper’s plea deal on gun charges does not include any informant activity) and to shut his yap. Nida deleted the tweet. Smart move, to put it mildly. The prison sentence he’s likely looking at may end up looking like a walk in the park compared to what might occur if he accuses T.I. of being a rat again. Kenya Moore was beaten up by Porsha Williams during the filming of the latest Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion show, and while that may be the worst thing to happen to Kenya that day, it wasn’t the only time she was made a victim. According to reports taken by the police officers who were called following the Moore-Williams fight, Kenya and her friend Lawrence were robbed of several thousand dollars worth of belongings including Kenya’s luggage and laptop. Nothing was taken from the dressing rooms of any of the other Housewives. Naturally, there has been much speculation that the burglars were in some way connected to Porsha. This, of course, is not the first or worst crime connected to RHOA today. Earlier, Apollo Nida pled guilty to fraud and could face several years in federal prison. Kenya has not yet commented on the robbery, but we wouldn’t be surprised if this latest misfortune has factored into her rumored decision to quit Real Housewives of Atlanta to attend Harvard . The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Apollo Nida pleaded guilty to charges of mail, wire and bank fraud in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. He could be going to jail for a long, long time. Apollo Nida’s crimes could land him in prison for up to 30 years and a fine of up to $1 million on top of restitution for an estimated $2.3 million he allegedly defrauded. His co-conspirator Gayla St. Julien, who said Nida ran the show and helped turn him in after she was arrested, has received a sentence of 61 months last month. Nida will be sentenced on July 8 at 2 p.m. The assistant U.S. attorney said Apollo opened a fake debt collection agency to gain access to databases full of individuals’ personal information. He would then steal people’s ID and find unclaimed funds , refunds from HUD, stolen treasury checks and refunds from fraudulent U.S. income tax returns. Nida had St. Julien open UPS mailboxes and bank checking accounts using those fake identities, deposit those checks, then pocket the money. So why would he do it when he’s already well taken care of by wife Phaedra Parks? Partly for that reason, he said in court. The pressure to keep up was intense! Nida said he takes “full responsibility for my actions” and expressed regret for hurting his family and any individuals and institutions affected by his fraud. Apollo Nida Pleads Guilty In ID Theft Scheme “It was a dumb situation I put myself in,” he said. In 2009, Nida had just left prison after five years for racketeering charges related to auto title fraud. He and Phaedra Parks , a prominent attorney, married. He said she was making far more than him and he felt pressure to keep up. Without easy legitimate ways to make quick money, he opted for this scheme. He said he even had a nervous breakdown at one point over the pressures to “sustain a lifestyle … I got sucked in and engulfed and lost sight of things,” he said. But he claimed to her he was running a legitimate debt recovery firm and kept her firmly in the dark. And once he started the scheme, he found it difficult to stop. Nida said he often didn’t think about whether this was hurting anybody because he was primarily targeting businesses and the government, not individuals. “It’s my fault at the end of the day,” he said. Since Nida is not expected to go to prison until July, when you watch The Real Housewives of Atlanta next season, this will definitely play out on Bravo. Apollo Nida Properties To Be Seized In Fraud Case The Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion is over, but the drama continues off-screen thanks to Apollo Nida’s messy bank fraud and identity theft case. Via RadarOnline reports: Phaedra Parks’ husband waived his indictment last week, paving the way to a trial or a plea deal. But in further court documents obtained by Radar, prosecutors make it clear that the former felon’s road to freedom won’t be a painless one. RadarOnline.com has learned that the feds could be prepping to seize his homes! Court documents filed on April 24 and obtained by Radar state that “Upon conviction of the offense alleged… [Nida] shall forfeit to the United States … any property constituting or derived from proceeds obtained directly or indirectly as a result of” his alleged scam. If the court can’t find or agree upon what that property is, the government will expect a cash payment. Nida is still a long way from conviction, but should reality TV star Parks be worried about losing her home? Probably not. Nida and Parks signed a pre-nup before marrying in 2009, and according to property records obtained by Radar, they have managed to keep their property holdings separate since then. In fact, when Parks and Nida moved into their $849,000 Buckhead mansion in 2013, according to a sale report, her name was the only one on the lease. In addition, she is still the owner of a $161,900 home in Athens, Georgia, according to property records. Records show Nida as the owner of several other low-end properties in the Atlanta area. Apollo Nida is nearing plea deal with the government just two months after his arrest for identity theft, bank fraud, and conspiracy charges, reports indicate. Will that be enough to keep The Real Housewives of Atlanta star out of jail? As is the case with fellow Bravo star Teresa Giudice, all of this remains unclear. Nida, Phaedra Parks’ husband and the guy Kenya Moore wants to bone ( watch The Real Housewives of Atlanta online for more on that), was arrested in January. On February 14, the court set a pre-trial date of March 25. Since that time, his attorneys “and counsel for the government have been engaged in discussions,” newly filed court documents obtained by Radar reveal. “They are still in the process of investigating additional facts and negotiating a resolution,” and “have made substantial progress toward a resolution.” Does that mean he’ll cop a plea and avoid the slammer? It’s not yet known, but the court agreed to yet another extension, up until April 25, in the hopes that Apollo Nida will be able to come to a deal with the government. The new extension ensures he will have “sufficient time to consult with his counsel, investigate all material, and continue said discussions with the government.” Think he’ll skate? Should he?
