Ask anybody you meet to name a one hit wonder and they’ll be able to do it. We might not remember who sang it, but the melody is probably an earworm we can’t forget. Like the Kandi Burruss hit that heads off the slideshow below. Sure, she’s a Grammy winner, but Porsha Williams landed more hits on Kenya Moore than Kandi landed on the charts as a solo artist. Another Hollywood couple has bitten the dust. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin announced this afternoon that they are separating after a decade of marriage. “It is with hearts full of sadness that we have decided to separate,” the stars announced on the GOOP website under the heading “Conscious Uncoupling.” Paltrow and Martin are the parents of two children: Apple, 9, and Moses, 7. The actress and the singer added that they have “working hard for well over a year” to make the relationship work. However… “We have come to the conclusion that while we love each other very much we will remain separate,” they wrote. “We are, however, and always will be a family, and in many ways we are closer than we have ever been.” Emphasizing how they are “parents first and foremost,” the long-time couple made a plea for privacy and concluded: “We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and co-parent, we will be able to continue in the same manner.” The Oscar winner and the Coldplay frontman tied the knot in a secret ceremony in late 2003 and have faced breakup rumors for many years. Flappy Bird, the addictive mobile game that flew to the top of the iPhone and Android app downloads charts in recent months, has now flown the coop. A tweet from the creator suggested that its huge success had become a burden for him personally, despite the insane sums of money he banked. “I am sorry ‘Flappy Bird’ users, 22 hours from now, I will take ‘Flappy Bird’ down,” developer Dong Nguyen wrote Saturday. “I cannot take this anymore.” What is the “this” he’s referring to? Flappy Bird Pulled Nguyen, a Vietnamese developer with a studio called DotGears, did not reply to interviews request, but has previously said that the game “ruined” his “simple life.” “It is not anything related to legal issues,” he said. “I just cannot keep it anymore.” The notoriety for creating the no-frills game, in which players steer a tiny bird through an obstacle course of metal pipes, is not something he ever sought. Although new players can no longer download “Flappy Bird,” the popular game remains playable for those who had already added it to their devices. As of last week, “Flappy Bird” had an average four-star rating from more than 543,000 reviews in the Apple App Store and 228,000 on Android. It reportedly earns $50,000 a DAY in mobile ad sales alone. As the flap over the game being taken down continues, hundreds of phones with “Flappy Bird” installed have appeared on eBay at prices up to $15,000.
