Mike Myers and his wife Kelly Tisdale have welcomed their first child, a boy named Spike. Now there’s a groovy name if ever there were one. The couple is “ecstatic” with their new addition , says his rep. The Austin Powers actor and his wife, who tied the knot last fall, confirmed their wedding in March and pregnancy in May. She co-owns a Big Apple cafe and began dating Myers for more than four years before they got engaged. Congratulations to the whole, expanding family!

On the corner of my desk sits an Amazon Kindle that is gathering dust. It has not been touched for a month. I found it convenient but not compelling. It was great to download a book fast, but its cheap plastic feel, a clunky user interface and black and white screen made it rather unattractive. Steve Wozniak says his fellow Apple co-founder Steve Jobs needs to relax. In the wake of Jobs stepping down as CEO of the company they both founded, the Woz said, “Steve needs now to just have some ‘Steve time’ … He deserves it.” Why? Not just because of his physical health problems, but mentally. “[Jobs] really has had to sacrifice a lot to run Apple … I mean, just your time, everybody wants you day and night, that’s what I mean by sacrifices.” “He has given his all. It takes so much out of anyone to be under just constant pressure and demands like that,” Wozniak said of his fellow mogul. As to the future of Apple, Wozniak is optimistic: “Remember, [Jobs] was surrounded by great, great people at Apple … those people are still there.” It’s true. Silicon Valley legend Steve Jobs, who has been on medical leave for an undisclosed condition since Jan. 17, resigned as chief executive of Apple Wednesday, saying he could “no longer meet my duties and expectations.” Interim CEO Tim Cook was immediately elevated to CEO, while Jobs, 55, will stay on as chairman of the board. “Steve’s extraordinary vision and leadership saved Apple and guided it to its position as the world’s most innovative and valuable technology company,” said Art Levinson, Chairman of Genentech, on behalf of Apple’s Board. “Steve has made countless contributions to Apple’s success, and he has attracted and inspired Apple’s immensely creative employees and world class executive team. In his new role as Chairman of the Board, Steve will continue to serve Apple with his unique insights, creativity and inspiration.” Cook has spent 13 years at Apple and had been COO and interim CEO while Jobs was on medical leave. Here is Jobs’ letter to the Apple board of directors: To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community: I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come. I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.
