It's been over two years since Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth married in the sort of lavish, massively-attended ceremony for which their family has become known. Two stars on Bringing Up Bates would like to bring something to your attention: They’re expecting a baby together! Isn’t that right, Carlin Bates and Evan Stewart?!? “We are beyond thrilled to be expecting our first child,” Carlin herself told Romper yesterday, adding in further detail and excitement: “Spending everyday with your best friend and building a life together has already exceeded our happiest dreams. We are so happy at the thought of parenting together. “Three at the table sounds perfect! God is so good.” Bates is due in February 2020. This means that she’s about three months along and she and Evan got married about three months ago, so either they procreated on their wedding night… … or the nuptials may have been inspired by some pre-marital sex. Shotgun! Bang! We went there, people. Added Carlin when breaking the news on Instagram: “This past year has been a whirlwind of excitement and love, from wedding planning, to the most magical day of my life when I said ‘I do,’ and just when I think life can’t get crazier, busier, or happier, I find out I’m pregnant! “I feel so grateful and in awe of the miracle of a tiny life growing inside of me! I can’t imagine that my life could be any more blessed!” Bates is only 21 years old and, considering she has 18 siblings and was basically raised in a cult, this is likely the first of many pregnancies. She sounds both psyched and sort of overwhelmed by that fact. “Even though I’m very early into my pregnancy, I already look at my mom and wonder, ‘How did you do this 19 times?” she said. “Yet, she acted as if each pregnancy was a gift and a privilege, and that’s exactly the sentiment I want to have. “She made us all feel special and loved and more than anything, Evan and I want to be the kind of parents that invest in our child’s life in such a way that they know what a treasure they are to us!” As for Stewart? “I have read so many sweet comments, received texts, and felt so much love from you all,” he wrote on Instagram, adding: “We are overwhelmed and thankful to God for this precious gift! ! I can’t wait to meet you, baby Stewart. You are already so loved.” Carlin is known both for appearing on Bringing Up Bates and also for being very close to Joy Duggar , who responded to this incredible news by exclaiming the following: Yayyy! SOOOOO happy . Back when Joy suffered her miscarriage this year , Carlin responded with words of sorrow and sympathy on Instagram. “I wish there were words to express how broken hearted I am for my best friend,” she wrote at the time, concluding: “Seeing her give birth to her little girl, Annabell Elise, and knowing that she would never be able to hold her again while on earth just brings tears to my eyes. “Yet, through it all, she has been so strong and held on to Jesus, knowing that we will see her little baby in heaven one day. “I know that Jesus doesn’t promise that we will not face difficulties in this life, but He does promise to be by our side every step of the way. “I’m so grateful to have a friend as precious as Joy, and I know that she would covet prayers at this hard time.” We send our very best to Carlin Bates and Evan Stewart. As you’ve no doubt heard by now, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have broken up after less than a year of marriage. Shortly after news of the split went public, fans were surprised to see photos of Miley making out with Kaitlynn Carter , the former “wife” of professional famous guy Brody Jenner. (Though they claimed to have gotten hitched, Brody and Kaitlynn later admitted that their marriage was never legal.) At the time, it was thought to be a tabloid-baiting fling — the kind of shock value publicity stunt that used to be Miley’s stock-and-trade. But now, it looks as though Miley and Kaitlynn are actually dating . Kaitlynn has met Miley’s mom ; the two of them have been spotted on what appear to be romantic date nights … it’s a whole thing. The situation has raised questions about the timeline of Miley and Kaitlynn’s romance. They both claim they held off on hooking up until their respective marriages were over. But Brody’s bestie Spencer Pratt says that’s not the case. In a new interview with Cosmo , Spencer calls Kaitlynn out for comments she made on recent episodes of The Hills , insisting that her description of her “open relationship” with Brody is total BS: “It’s tough for me to listen to Kaitlynn complain about people talking about her allegedly open relationship with Brody when we know she had a thing going with Miley,” he told the magazine. “She already had something going on with her when these scenes were filming—maybe not physically, but definitely emotionally.” Pratt says he has no issue with Carter’s (alleged) infidelity, he just wishes that as a new cast member, she would be a bit more upfront with the show’s audience: “No one’s judging you for whatever it is you and Brody do when he’s not sleeping in his car,” he continued. “We just don’t want people to lie about their lives. For his part, Brody has defended both Kaitlynn and her relationship with Miley: “There is far too much negativity being directed at someone who I love and care about very much,” he wrote on Instagram. “I feel the need to set the story straight. I started being a pescatarian and he was plant-based, so I started there. First, the pescetarian diet is someone who consumes a mostly plant-based diet (vegetarian) but also eats fish and seafood, and if they want, dairy and eggs. Translation: That means goodbye to burgers, steak or Popeye’s chicken sandwiches and hello to leafy greens, low-sugar fruits like strawberries and blueberries and salmon. “Weight loss and weight management in general in this day and age can be challenging, especially if you are eating what we term commercial non-organic ‘feed-lot’ meats that are typically found in the average grocery store. This meat often contains hormones and antibiotics which both increase the inflammatory response in the body as well as can contribute to the breakdown of the lining of our gastrointestinal tracts, which in turn can cause more issues with inflammation, Njeri Jarvis , a registered dietitian, and licensed nutritionist, explained to HelloBeautiful . “Over time this can cause nutrient deficiencies that along with inflammation can contribute to hormonal imbalances making it more difficult to manage or lose weight,” adding, “So, when you remove this meat from the equation by eating fish as your main protein source, particularly those that are cold water and wild-caught and particularly if you are also eating large amounts of vegetables, It can be a weight loss and total body game-changer.” Njeri Jarvis runs Bear Nutrition and Herbs in Washington DC. Her nutrition practice covers a range of health issues like body composition, cancer, autoimmune disorders, endocrine and kidney imbalances, cancer, food-sensitivity, etc. We got a lot of gems from her about why a pescatarian lifestyle may be an ideal option for Black women, and how those of us who are interested can incorporate it into our lifestyles. For starters, fish are a great source of protein, omega 3 fatty acids, vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Iron, Zinc and Selenium. Jarvis explained that Zinc and Selenium are key minerals needed for the body to produce and utilize our body’s biggest detoxifier, glutathione peroxidase . Zinc also plays a role in cell growth, wound healing, the breakdown of carbohydrates, and more. The combination of the nutrients listed above is important for maintaining healthy thyroid function as well. “For Black women, in particular, transitioning to a pescatarian lifestyle also means getting greater amounts of fat-soluble vitamins [Vitamin A, E, D and K]. Food-based vitamin D is essential as is getting doses of sun based vitamin D,” says Jarvis. “Individuals living in the northern latitudes of the planet tend to have lower vitamin D levels, especially if their skin is darker. This puts Black women at risk for low levels of vitamin D.” Researchers at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine suggest higher levels of vitamin D are associated with decreasing risk of breast cancer . This is important as Black women were recently classified as a high-risk group for breast cancer . We know that people who carry excess weight are at higher risk for developing high blood pressure, high blood sugar, type 2 diabetes, etc. In other words, being mindful of what and how you eat is important. Given that Black women disproportionately suffer from all three of those chronic illnesses, this is definitely a way of eating we should consider adopting. B ut there are some factors you should look out for too. Metal pollutants in marine fish are a global issue. Nearly all fish may contain some mercury, but the FDA has issued a warning for pregnant women, women considering becoming pregnant, nursing mothers and young children to avoid specific fish like shark, swordfish, king mackerel, and tilefish. Opt for low mercury fish like canned light tuna, salmon, pollock, shrimp, sardines and catfish, and keep it to about 8-12 ounces per week. Most importantly, how you prepare it matters too! Salmon doesn’t mean anything if you the only you cook it in a deep fryer. So opt for grilling, pan-searing on the skillet, baking in foil or even an air fryer, which doesn’t rely on unhealthy oils for that crispy texture you may crave. “Planning is key to transitioning. First, on your next run to the grocery store, plan and commit to buying only marine protein. Stocking your freezer with good quality plain frozen fish and frozen shrimp is an easy and affordable way to have healthy fish on hand for any family meal,” Jarvis suggests. “Keeping sardines, muscles, oysters canned in olive oil or water is another affordable staple that can be packed in a to-go bag along with a big salad for a healthy mid-day lunch at work or at school. Making tuna salad or preparing salmon cakes is another affordable and easy way to have a tasty meal that fits the bill.” You can also tap trusted women in your life to be accountability buddies. You can schedule workouts together, or even short walks, talk each other off the ledge when you’re not meeting goals or craving something counterproductive, share recipes, and generally be a support system working toward success. If you got it like that, it also doesn’t hurt to consult with a nutritionist. According to a TMZ report , the actor had surgery on Sunday night that involved fusing two fractures in his upper back and one in his lower. Sources said that Kevin is “still going through hell” in the early stages of his recovery. For now, Kevin is being heavily medicated by medical professionals because the pain from his injuries is beyond intense. It sounds like this is just the beginning for him. He should expect weeks, if not months of rehab . Despite suffering three separate spinal fractures, 2 of them in the thoracic section of his spine, and 1 in the lumbar, Kevin is expected to make a full recovery doctors’ sources confirmed to TMZ. As far as his friends, Jared Black and Rebecca Broxterman, who were also in the wreck, details of their recovery process has not been made public but they are reportedly expected to recover fully. TMZ says that the friends had spent the day earlier at Kev’s house, where he had posted this photo just hours before the crash. WMTV.com reports : Nikki Cutchens and her daughter Grace were shopping at the Maine Mall on Saturday when they stopped into the store Journey’s. The family was in line ready to check out when the man at the next register offered to buy their shoes for them. The man happened to rapper DMX. DMX was in Maine for a concert at Rock Row in Westbrook on Saturday. He told them he was blessed to have 15 children and wanted the family to be blessed as well. “I was actually having a really hard time picking out shoes. I could not figure out which ones I wanted and then we went in that store and I found the shoes that I wanted and we just happened to go pay for them and it happened.” Grace Firley said. “They’re technically his shoes. Source: WENN / WENN Mac Miller ‘s death last September was due to an accidental overdose and now the man who allegedly gave Miller the drugs has been arrested. Cameron James Pettit, 28, was arrested by DEA agents on Wednesday (Sept 4), nearly one year to the date of Miller’s untimely death. Pettit is accused of supplying Miller with counterfeit oxycodone pills that contained fentanyl. A 42-page criminal complaint released by federal authorities revealed that Pettit delivered drugs to Miller days before his overdose, allegedly giving the rapper fentanyl-laced oxy pills, cocaine and Xanax. If convicted, Pettit faces a maximum of 20 years in prison.
