Her characters past love affairs, family drama and so much more come to haunt her as she is determined to make an even bigger name for herself. Givens mentioned though that she turned down multiple roles like that because she didn’t want to be labeled that way. As she thinks about it now, she should’ve taken them and embraced them, which is what she’s doing now in the hit show, “Ambitions.” Even though Givens has been acting for quite sometime, this passion wasn’t always supported by family. She did mention though that her mom recently called her to tell her she likes the character she plays now. As for what the future holds, Robin Givens is hoping for a season 2 of “Ambitions” and looks forward to one day working with Denzel Washington . From The Roots to Mac Miller to Wu-Tang Clan, that library in Washington D.C. done housed some noise to keep the neighbors grooving and vibing all day long. The latest big name artist to perform at NPR’s studio is Ty Dolla $ign and during his set went on to pay homage to Mac Miller just a month before the first anniversary of his passing. Performing a rendition of Miller’s “Cinderella” off of Mac’s The Devine Feminine , Ty Dolla conjures up some heartfelt soul in remembrance of the Steel City MC. Check out the performance below.

However, it’s been announced that the Long Beach rapper is now signed to Motown Records, and he’s dropping new music soon. For most of his career, the “Norf Nor” rapper was signed to Def Jam via Blacksmith Recordings. Billboard reports that at Capitol Music Group’s annual meeting it was revealed that Blacksmith Recordings (owned by artist manager Corey Smyth) has moved over to the Capitol Music Group and Motown Records. “Today, more than ever, artists are evolving their professional identities in multi-faceted ways,” said Smyth in a statement. “My mission through Blacksmith Recordings is to nurture young and new talent from the ground up and enable them to expand their vision of success. We are looking at the big picture, thinking about how a musician evolves across genres, what success looks like in the first year and a decade later and what happens after the first album, the second and the third. Our goal is to reinforce career longevity and boundless potential in the artists we represent, while growing global brands around them.” Besides Staples, other acts on Blacksmith include Kilo Kish, Ted When and Benn Good. Smith reportedly is prepping to drop new music in the fourth quarter. Staples’ last album, FM! , dropped in late 2018.

A VENTURA, Florida –There were some early morning jitters at the annual gathering for Black journalists in suburban Miami on Wednesday morning after a fire alarm briefly disrupted the event’s first day of panels and workshops. But the nerves of those attending the National Association of Black Journalists ( NABJ ) Convention here were quickly quelled when an evacuation was halted after it was announced that the alarm sounded because of some burnt toast. Amid heightened worries surrounding gun violence from suspected white supremacists targeting minorities, the nation’s largest organization for journalists of color kicked off this year’s gathering as the nation was mourning the nearly two dozen deaths from this past weekend’s pair of apparently racially motivated mass shootings . It was because of that, NABJ Executive Director Drew Berry said — and probably because of the racist rhetoric and attacks on the media by Donald Trump — that there were extra security measures put in place for the organization’s signature event. On Sunday, Berry sent a blast email to its members expressing his condolences to the victims of the shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, which took place this past Saturday and Sunday, respectively. Berry emphasized that convention security would be ramped up, a message that had not been sent to attendees in past years. “We met with local police departments and hotel security staff two days ago regarding our convention security needs including concerns fueled by the racial climate and recent mass shootings,” Berry wrote in part. “The security team is putting together substantial plans that include both visible and covert security details.” Multiple requests for comment from Berry, NABJ President Sarah Glover and other officials within the nonprofit organization were not returned. The convention began on the same day USA Today’s headquarters in Virginia was evacuated because of a report about an armed person that ultimately didn’t yield “evidence of any acts of violence.” It was just another example of journalists being on alert in a culture of mass shootings. Among a host of planned events over the span of five days, NABJ was planning a presidential candidates forum that was set to include New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker , South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg , Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld . The preemptive move by NABJ seemed to make complete sense after at least 20 people were killed Saturday in El Paso by Patrick Crusius , who said in a racist manifesto that he was against “race mixing.” Less than 24 hours later, Connor Betts opened fired in the Oregon District in Dayton early Sunday morning, killing nine people, six of whom were Black. Though authorities did not immediately confirm a motive, social media users theorized that Betts was upset with his sister, whom he also killed, for dating a Black man. Those shootings came about a week after Santino William Legan killed multiple people attending the Garlic Festival in Gilroy, California. Legan left behind social media posts that showed he may have been a white supremacist or at least sympathized with the racist movement. The president’s open disdain for many Black people, especially journalists, was also another likely reason for NABJ’s precautions. Trump has used dangerously racist rhetoric that’s helped to embolden white supremacist extremists to target prominent Black people and especially journalists. The president during last week’s Democratic debates turned his attention to Don Lemon , who the president has repeatedly called “the dumbest man on television.” Those insults toward Lemon may seem harmless, but another journalist proved Trump’s attacks on the media can create danger. Just last year, legendary journalist April Ryan , the 2017 NABJ Journalist of the Year, revealed that she was receiving death threats because of her coverage of the White House. Despite the current events and racial climate in the country, one attendee said he wasn’t worried and that he believed NABJ officials would do their best to keep safe a segment of the community that perhaps would not have otherwise felt protected. “With three mass shootings taking place over the span of a week, I’m a little on edge,” Victor Williams, a Cleveland television reporter, told NewsOne on Monday. “I don’t realistically see this problem going away anytime soon [and] unless something is done, it’s possible this could be a concern at all future conventions, [but] I’m confident in the planners of NABJ are taking extra measures to keep us safe.” SEE ALSO: Father Of Black Woman Who Survived El Paso Shooting Slams Trump: ‘Do Not Come To This City’ Ben Carson Suddenly Decides Not To Go To Ohio To Lie About Housing After Dayton Shooting [ione_media_gallery src=”https://newsone.com” id=”3883613″ overlay=”true”]

Basically, Inglewood is gentrifying, there’s a new stadium coming, and Shaunie is trying to get in on the money too. In other words, real estate is about to be yet another one of her hustles, even if it means potentially displacing people who will eventually get priced out. Tami Roman unveils her musical alter ego, a rapper named Tatiana Trill. Here, she meets up with Yoyo, the one and only. Yoyo along with Tami’s daughter Jazz, give Tami some tricks and tips of the trade. It’s a fun session, but the fun never lasts too long on this show because the rest of the episode is all drama. Speaking of, next, Kristen, Evelyn and Jenn meet up for lunch. Let’s cut to the chase. This is about gossip. Kristen tells Evelyn and Jenn that Cece has been fake toward OG *shocker* because CeCe was actually talking smack about her just last year. CeCe sent a string of nasty texts about OG back when CeCe and Kristen were cool, and Kristen has the receipts. It’s a lot of messages, but one of the messages shown was CeCe saying that OG isn’t attractive and dresses weird and that she looks like a man. Obviously, they feel like “CeCe needs to know” but really, they just want to be hurtful. You already know. Feby has a show coming up that’s supposed to be a big deal and she invited everyone. EVERYONE, including OG. You already know what this is but hold that thought. Tami, OG, and Jackie meet up to fill Tami in on the dysfunction that went down in San Diego. Obviously, OG and Jackie tell Tami about how Evelyn and Jenn made up. Tami isn’t moved because she still doesn’t fool with Jenn. Tami is also filled in about Feby denying that she wrote a diss track about OG. Jackie finally just breaks down tells OG that Feby actually did say this stuff because she was present. Tami is annoyed because she had a brunch to try to get people to know OG and is annoyed that Jackie didn’t say anything while that went down. And then, Jackie mentions Feby’s upcoming show and how Tami should come through. Tami said she might come but she’s going to continue to ride for OG if ish goes down. Let’s fast forward to Feby’s showcase. It starts off all cute with people greeting Feby before she gets on stage. OG isn’t there yet, so Malaysia is directing all her stank faces toward Jenn. Then Tami shows up, she still hates Jenn too so she forces her to give up her seat. Like, legit tells her to get up and let her sit and Jenn obliges then talks smack during her confessional because that’s what she does. OG finally arrives and tries to keep it cordial. Feby greets OG and then says she’s uncomfortable since they don’t get along. OG then says she was told that Feby admitted that her song was about OG. Feby lies again. OG was initially trying to keep Jackie’s name out of it then she just says that Jackie was there and heard Feby say this. Feby still lies so Jackie chimes in, saying she “was under the impression that Feby wrote the song about OG.” Beating around the bush and all that good stuff. Anway, Feby still won’t admit it but tells OG that she hasn’t been feeling OG for a while. OG then mentions something that CeCe told her and Feby says that CeCe isn’t her friend. OG doubles down and says that CeCe is her friend but then Jenn steps in and takes it upon herself to do what Kristen said she was going to do but is currently sitting silently about. Jenn reveals that Kristen has all those text messages with CeCe talking smack about OG. Mind you, CeCe wasn’t here through all of this, but then, she walks in right on cue. OG asks Cece if she said anything negative about her? CeCe says no, of course, because she and Feby are affected with the same scary chick amnesia. Jenn says there’s proof so of course OG wants to see it. Kristen obliges and shows her the messages. Again, it’s a long series of messages so we only get bits and pieces and it’s bad. OG says, “It says ugly ass hoe!” so that’s another snippet that we get. CeCe says she doesn’t remember saying that stuff. Tami jumps in and tells CeCe to own her shit. She typed it, it’s there, it obviously came from her so she should just apologize. Now it’s time for Feby to perform so this gets cut short, but CeCe just leaves instead of confronting this because she’s wack. OG actually looks hurt and is standing alone while everyone else is going to watch Feby perform. Kristen finds her and tells her that what just happened wasn’t to be malicious, suuuure , but that she’s tired of CeCe lying and if Byron won’t call her out then she will. She also tells OG that she’s tired of fighting and wants them to move forward. They agree to let the past be the past, and that’s that. OG says she’s disappointed in CeCe but they can’t talk now since she made like a Spalding and bounced. Shaunie is not present for any of the above. She’s actually at dinner with her family, including Shaquille O’Neal, so we end with Shaunie bonding with her family after all that foolishness. However, next week, we will pick up in the middle of the drama. The preview shows OG demanding that CeCe keep it real with her, but CeCe refuses. In fact, CeCe is going to say it was probably fake text messages knowing Kristen. Then we get closer to the Jackie and Malaysia fallout. It’s just a whole world of mess.
