CinemaNow headed to VuNow

VuNow has announced that they have added Roxio CinemaNow content to their VuNow Internet TV service. The service allows users to watch video content directly from their TVs without the need for a PC. The service connects to YouTube, many global TV stations, and now over 10,000 CinemaNow movies.

According to a new survey on ‘American Internet habits’ reported by the Pew Internet and American Life Project , online movie watching has doubled over the last two years. 35 percent of those surveyed said they had watched a TV show or movie online in 2009, up from 16 percent in 2007. Sonic brings HD streaming to CinemaNow

Sonic Solutions has announced that they will finally be bringing HD streaming to its Roxio CinemaNow online video service, using a new technology dubbed Sonic CineVision Adaptive HD which the company promises will make films look Blu-ray-esque in 1080p full HD . Sonic’s competitors, such as iTunes , Amazon, VUDU, and Sony have all had HD streaming or downloads for some time now. CineVision Adaptive HD will also be available “as part of the company’s CineVision Master Encoding system” says TWICE, “enabling others to maximize the quality of streaming video content.” The CineVision Master Encoding system is used in current Blu-ray production, so the company says the streaming quality will be second to none

Pirate Bay sued by FPM, FIMI

The FIMI (Federazione Industria Musicale Italiana) and the FPM (Federation against Musical Piracy) have declared their intent to sue the founders of the torrent tracker The Pirate Bay , seeking monetary damages of 1 million euros. The move follows the recent lawsuit against the site by the Hollywood studios , the decision of a Netherlands court that the site must be blocked in the region , and the fact that the proposed purchase of the site by Global Gaming Factory seems to be on the brink of failure . The lawsuit will be against the site’s founders, Peter Sunde, Fredrik Neij and Gottfrid Svartholm
