Nicki Minaj And Pitbull Celebrate AMA Nominations

Minaj jokes that mentor Lil Wayne should ‘move to the side and let me win’ at the American Music Awards. By Kara Warner Nicki Minaj and Pitbull Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Whether they had a heads-up or not, when Nicki Minaj and Pitbull unveiled the nominees for the 39th annual American Music Awards on Tuesday (October 11), it was obvious they were both pleased to read the other’s name off the list. Minaj is nominated for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album, while Pitbull picked up nods for Favorite Latin Music Artist and Favorite Pop or Rock Male Artist. When MTV News caught up with the nominees immediately following the announcement, they weren’t shy about their hopes for bringing home the big awards come November 20, when the AMAs air live on ABC. “It’s an honor to be here with the kind of caliber of artists here,” Pitbull said of fellow nominees Justin Bieber , Bruno Mars , Enrique Iglesias and Jennifer Lopez . “Me, I come to the awards shows and I just learn, I watch everyone, I see how they handle their performances and hopefully grab a couple things and apply it to my career. So to be here nominated and to also be performing at the AMAs, I want to thank you.” The “Give Me Everything” singer also promised he’ll do his best to top his VMA performance when he takes the AMA stage. “That [VMA performance] was definitely a lot of fun. It’s hard to get 60 women from Miami on a plane after they were partying the night before and bring that vibe out there,” he joked. “But that’s definitely what we’re looking for: We’re looking for a lot of energy, something very sexy, sophisticated, powerful — and get ready.” With regard to Miss Minaj’s chances at victory, she’s nominated in both categories with Young Money boss Lil Wayne, so we wanted to know if there will be any friendly wagering going on beforehand. “I don’t know. He’s won enough,” she said with a smile. “He’s been winning for 10 years, so he can move to the side and let me win, hopefully.” Who will you be rooting for at the AMAs? Let us know in the comments! Justin Bieber Gets Romantic In ‘Mistletoe’ Teaser

Teen superstar gets close to his female co-star in preview of Christmas-themed clip. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage Less than a week until Justin Bieber ‘s single “Mistletoe” is officially released the pop star is treating fans to a little behind-the-scenes video of the Christmas-themed clip . In the just-released teaser video, a crowd of screaming fans look hyped while Bieber shoots with director Roman White. In one scene, Justin stands in the middle of the street as snow falls around him; the street and trees are decorated with Christmas lights. Later in the preview, Bieber goofs around with his female co-star. “We are in the holiday spirit,” the pop star says. “I’m really excited. [The song is] really catchy. I know all my fans are going to love it. It’s something that I feel like they’re going to be singing every Christmas.” While there’s no official release date yet for the video, it was shot last month (the single drops on Monday). And the teen star seemed excited to shoot with White, who worked with him on the “One Less Lonely Girl” video. “We came back, we’re on two,” Bieber says about White. “It’s been a fun night and he’s really funny. He’s always cracking jokes.” Apart from peeks at Bieber being his goofy self and holding impromptu Christmas-themed sing-along’s with his fans, the teaser video is full of hints about what to expect from the video, including lots of romance between Bieber and his female lead. The pair dance, snuggle and even kiss. But, Bieber notes, the video is really all about his fans. “It was getting near the holiday season and I hadn’t put out an album in a while, so I was thinking, you know, I had a lot of ideas and I thought maybe I could write a few Christmas songs,” he explains. “So I was like, ‘Hey let’s do a Christmas album.’ And I was able to put together a cool Christmas album for all my fans.” What do you think of Justin’s upcoming Christmas video so far? Method Man Gets Improv Lessons From Jonah Hill

‘I applaud people that can think that quick on their feet,’ he tells ‘RapFix Live,’ while offering an update on his acting career. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Photo: MTV News Throughout his career, Method Man has been able to earn his respect in hip-hop and Hollywood simultaneously. As a prominent member of the Wu-Tang Clan, Meth has released four solo albums, two with Redman and a number of Clan-related projects. As an actor, he’s starred in major films like “Belly” and “Cop Land,” as well as the critically acclaimed HBO series “The Wire.” Look for Meth to take his acting to another level in the next few months. First, in December he will star alongside Jonah Hill in “The Sitter.” While on set with the “Superbad” actor, Tical learned a lesson in improv. “I didn’t know that they did these long-ass rants, to the point where, like, you’re waiting to get your line in, and just when you’re about to say your line — cut! — ran out of film,” he said when he appeared on “RapFix Live” last week. “I applaud people that can think that quick on their feet. Now I watch a Will Ferrell movie, I can see it now. I can see what he’s doin’.” At the top of 2012, Meth will transition into more of a dramatic role as a Tuskegee pilot in the World War II drama “Red Tails.” In preparing for the role, the rapper learned a lot about the historical significance of the African-American military aviators who had to conquer a racially segregated armed forces. “I met some of the actual pilots, and they would sit there telling us the stories,” he said. Meth — who co-stars with Cuba Gooding Jr., Terrence Howard and Tristan Wilds in the George Lucas-produced, Anthony Hemingway-directed film — also spoke on the physical training he had to endure in preparation for the film. According to the rapper, it was a lot like boot camp, but also a valuable bonding experience. “By the time I was done with the movie, I can actually call the majority of those dudes on the set friends,” he said. ‘Avengers’ Trailer: Five Things We Want To See

Most importantly, we want to see the whole crew together at one time. By Kevin Sullivan Scarlett Johansson in “The Avengers” Photo: Marvel Last week, we previewed what we’re hoping to see from the “never-before-seen” footage from “The Avengers” announced for this Saturday’s New York Comic Con. That was before we found out that Marvel plans to release the first official trailer for the ultimate superhero meet-up online Tuesday. Expectations have always been high for “The Avengers,” but the surprisingly little footage we’ve seen from the actual film has put interest on a whole new level. Fans of comic book movies everywhere have been waiting a long time to get their hands on another scrap of official “Avengers” info, so for the trailer to not miss the mark, there are some specific things we need to see: The New Hulk He’s the 1,500-pound, gamma-radiated gorilla in the room. The trading of Edward Norton for Mark Ruffalo caused a good amount of controversy, but if there had to be a recasting, it wasn’t a terrible move. If you consider the Hulk and Bruce Banner two separate characters, the big green guy is the only major character we haven’t seen a single picture of, which is odd considering that we’ve already seen two iterations of a CGI Hulk. His absence would make more sense if this was something entirely new, but it isn’t. Nick Fury in Action To be fair, the wait to see Ruffalo’s Hulk seems short compared to how long we’ve all waited to see Samuel L. Jackson kick some ass as Nick Fury. He showed up eight years ago in the first Iron Man movie with promises of an Avengers gathering and some killer S.H.I.E.L.D. action. Jackson has talked up Fury’s eventual action scenes for months, but we have yet to see any proof to back it up besides a still released last week . It’s time to quit the talk and unleash the Fury. Helicarrier Speaking of S.H.I.E.L.D., what is a secret military law-enforcement agency without the signature ride to prove it? So far, most of the material we’ve seen with the Avengers assembled, specifically the set photos and the footage after “Captain America: The First Avenger,” has shown what is most likely the inside-flying aircraft carrier, and that’s probably because the film is still in production with effects shots far from completed. With an event like the first trailer, Marvel hopefully arranged for a handful of effects shots to be ready. An obvious choice for one of these shots would be the non-spoiler Helicarrier. Who’s Helping Loki? For as long as we’ve known about “The Avengers,” there’s been talk about who the villain might be. And as long as people have been talking about the villain, they’ve been throwing the Skrulls around. It’s been one of the longest-lasting rumors around the movie, and some set footage with Cap and Thor fighting off mo-cap actors only seemed to confirm it. Other than the Skrulls, Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet have been part of the discussion for quite some time. The Infinity Gauntlet showed up in “Thor” and at San Diego Comic-Con in 2010. Thanos, on the other jewel-encrusted hand, was at the center of a supposed scoop by the Latino Review all the way back in May. Avengers Assembled The last time we checked, the movie was called “The Avengers,” and we were expecting at some point to see them all together. You know, in one shot . The closest we’ve come so far was at Comic Con, and they weren’t even in character. If Marvel really wants to make an impact with the trailer, they need to give the fans what they’ve been promising for three years: get all the heroes onscreen all at once. Everything else that will inevitably be missing from the trailer is forgivable as long as we get the big group shot. Check out everything we’ve got on “The Avengers.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com .

Hilary Duff Thinks She’s Having A Baby Boy

‘I don’t care what I get, but every time I think about it or dream about it, I see a boy,’ mom-to-be tells MTV News. By Christina Garibaldi Hilary Duff Photo: MTV News Hilary Duff is a busy mom-to-be . The former Disney star, who is more than four months pregnant, is positively glowing as she promotes her second novel, “Devoted,” which hits bookstores Tuesday. The book is a supernatural tale about love, destiny and adventure and picks up right where she left off in her first book, “Elixir.” The best-selling author isn’t just busy writing the third installment of her book series; she’s also gearing up to be a first-time mom. And other than the lack of sleep the past few months, pregnancy has been a smooth ride so far. “I feel really good. It’s been pretty easy, and I haven’t gotten sick at all, and I don’t have too many cravings,” Duff told MTV News. “It’s so different. It’s literally like an alien has taken over your body. One day I’ll have a good day, and one day I’ll have a bad day, and it kinda goes like that.” The former “Lizzie McGuire” star is eagerly awaiting the news of the sex of her baby, but she’s holding out for two special people to be there to share in her excitement. “I can already find out, but I want my mom and my sister to be there, but they’ve both been out of town. When they are both in the same city and we’re all there, then we’ll find out,” Duff said. We’re not sure Duff can wait much longer. “I’m going crazy! Pregnancy is kind of boring. There’s not too much you can do, so those dates are very important to you, so you count down.” What does Duff think she and professional hockey player husband Mike Comrie will be having? “Everyone else says it’s a girl, but I think it’s a boy,” Duff said. “I’d be happy with a girl, but my sister’s like, ‘You can’t keep saying that, because then when it’s a girl, everyone’s gonna think you really wanted a boy.’ I don’t care what I get, but every time I think about it or dream about it, I see a boy.” Duff, who plans to “take a break” from having kids after her pregnancy, is now on to the hardest part: picking out a name. “If we give the baby kind of a unique name, we need to give it a normal middle name in case it hates it and wants to like fit in better and then maybe we just need to go totally traditional,” Duff said. “And we’re like, ‘How can we be naming it before we even see it?’ There’s so much to think about!” Share your well-wishes for Hilary and Mike in the comments below! Kanye West Joins Occupy Wall Street Protesters

Russell Simmons also takes part, calling the demonstrators ‘our future leaders.’ By Kara Warner Kanye West appears at the Occupy Wall Street demonstration on October 10 Photo: Timothy A. Clary / Getty Images With a group of protesters that has grown steadily in numbers, the Occupy Wall Street movement received a one-two celebrity punch Monday (October 10) in the form of supporters Kanye West and Russell Simmons. The hip-hop heavyweights caused a stir when they visited the demonstrators’ “base camp” at Zuccotti Park, where Simmons appeared on Al Sharpton’s radio show to speak in support of the group’s efforts. “People are here with an honest heart and honest intentions,” Simmons said, according to New York’s Daily News. “These young people are our future leaders. “I’m happy to pay a little more taxes if it means better education for our children,” he added. “I don’t pay enough taxes, and I know it.” Simmons and West are the latest celebs to jump onboard the Occupy Wall Street movement. When MTV News caught up with Talib Kweli last week, he spoke out about why he’s in full support of the protests. “There’s no other place in New York City to be,” Kweli told us. “People are taking their destiny in their own hands. This is one of the most American, if not the most American, things that I’ve ever seen. “When I see things like Occupy Wall Street, I just try to align myself with things that make sense,” he continued. “Shame on me if I know something and don’t spread it, you know? If I know, it becomes my responsibility to spread the information.” Occupy Wall Street, which has also spread to cities like Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles, marked its 24th day of protest Monday.
