Justin Bieber Drops ‘How To Love’ Acoustic Remix

Lil Wayne cover arrives ahead of Biebs’ forthcoming Christmas album. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber Photo: Christopher Polk/ Getty Images First, it was Demi Lovato , and now, Justin Bieber is jumping on the Lil Wayne “How to Love” bandwagon. On Wednesday (September 28), the singer dropped his acoustic version of the ballad. According to a tweet from Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun , Bieber produced and played all of the instruments on the song, which shows the singer growing as an artist and his ability to embrace older lyrical content. He plays guitar and percussion, displaying his skills an instrumentalist, and, as fans have seen over the course of this year, he also sings in a lower key. About a minute and a half into the track, Bieber even shows off his rapping skills when he spits, “I just want to take my time/ I just want to my thing/ Maybe we press rewind/ Maybe I buy that ring/ We could grow old together/ Just share our souls together/ Find how to love, kiss and hug/ How to roll together/ I just need you by my side/ Maybe we could be alright/ I just want to hold you right/ We can into the night/ You’re the one I need.” Braun also shared that there’s more new music coming out from Bieber, tweeting, “He has some more remixes coming too. right @seankingston.” This week, Bieber heads to South America for a string of dates on the next leg of his My World Tour, and he had this message for all the Bieliebers out there: “U know what … I LOVE MY FANS!! and yeah i know there r haterz but u cant stop us from living our dream. hard work and this team. #wegohard.” In related news, Bieber tweeted out the date “#nov1st,” perhaps a hint as to when his highly anticipated Christmas album will drop. The album, which will feature confirmed track “Falalalala” with Boyz II Men , is also rumored to contain collaborations with Sean Kingston and Taylor Swift, as well as a super-secret collaboration with “1 of the most #Legendary performers ever,” according to a tweet from Braun. Boyz II Men’s Shawn Stockman said, “[Bieber] thought we’d be perfect for it. And we went in and locked in.” Share your thoughts on Bieber’s version of “How to Love” in the comments below! ‘Twilight’ Fan Christina Perri Pens ‘A Love Song To Edward And Bella’

Admitted ‘Twi-Hard’ is ‘unbelievably honored’ that ‘A Thousand Years’ made the ‘Breaking Dawn – Part 1’ soundtrack. By James Montgomery Christina Perri Photo: Tim Mosenfelder/ Getty Images For any artist, getting a song on a “Twilight” soundtrack is a pretty big deal. But for Christina Perri , whose “A Thousand Years” made the cut for the upcoming “Breaking Dawn – Part 1” album , well, “pretty big deal” is an understatement. Perri is — to put it mildly — rather obsessed with the series, as she told MTV News on Tuesday (September 27). “Yes, I am 1,000 percent a ‘Twilight’ fan. I can’t even deny that I am actually, in fact, a Twi-Hard and have a ‘Twilight’ tattoo,” she laughed, also revealing that she’s Team Edward. “I got a tattoo on my wrist that says ‘bitten,’ and it’s written in the font of all the book titles. So, yes, I am of one the big, geeky fans.” For Perri, who already found success with her hit “Jar of Hearts,” landing “Breaking Dawn” was a career-defining moment, not to mention a dream come true. Especially since, until the final track list was revealed Monday, she had no idea if her song made the cut. “I’ll never forget going to the screening of the movie. But, for me, having this opportunity is also such a wild card, because it’s Hollywood, and you never really know. … I wasn’t even sure I was going to be on it until yesterday, when I saw it in print,” she laughed. “So I tried not to get hyped out, because it’s one of my favorite movies, one of my favorite books, one of my favorite soundtracks, and that could potentially freak out the little songwriter in me. “So I tried to put that aside and take it one step at a time, went to see the movie and cried like a baby, because it’s so good, and I felt so lucky to be there,” she continued. “And then went home and wrote a love song to Edward and Bella … and to have it be chosen, I’m unbelievably honored.” She wrote that love song based less on the screening she attended (“It wasn’t finished,” Perri said. “But I still cried. Seriously, that’s how good it is”) and more on the emotions she felt reading Stephenie Meyer’s series … in particular, the star-crossed love affair between Edward and Bella. “When we went to watch the screening, they told us to see where there was temporary music added and just jump into those scenes a little harder,” she explained. “But I’m fortunately a fan of the movie and the characters, and I feel like, by reading these books, I can step into that feeling that Edward and Bella have for each other. So [songwriter] David Hodges and I sat down, and it just came out in one afternoon. I feel like it was all meant to happen; I feel like it was all waiting inside me, waiting to come out.” While she doesn’t know where “A Thousand Years” will be used in “Breaking Dawn,” Perri said it’s not all that important to her. She’s just counting down the days until the film’s premiere, when, finally, she’ll get to hear her song on the big screen. And after that, all bets are off. “For me, personally, this is one of my dreams coming true. And the fact that it’s on the soundtrack, I’m seeing it, but I’m not sure I’m quite believing it,” she said. “I have a feeling when I’m sitting in the theater with the cast, and the movie comes on and my song happens, that I’m probably at that moment either going to combust with excitement or finally believe it and probably cry a little.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . T.I.’s First Post-Prison Track Is ‘Hot,’ DJ Drama Promises

Tip’s friend and collaborator tells MTV News he’s ‘excited for the fans to hear it sometime real soon.’ By Rob Markman T.I. Photo: Robyn Beck/AFP/Getty Images T.I. is almost home. On Thursday, the Trap Muzik MC will have completed his current prison bid for a probation violation that stems from a September 2010 arrest for drug possession . His longtime collaborator DJ Drama looks forward to brighter days. “Me and Tip have been friends, working together for almost a decade now, so we know what we gotta do. It’s really time to get to work and get to the music,” said Drama, who has present during T.I.’s recent recording sessions that he’s been allowed to hold since being in a halfway house. “So I’m just happy when I was in the studio with him to really see where his focus was at musically and I was excited for the fans to hear it sometime real soon.” T.I.’s imprisonment was not only a blow to the hip-hop community, but it also left a void in his hometown of Atlanta. “It’s always a good feeling,” Drama said of the prospect of having Tip free yet again. “When somebody like Tip, who is so influential in the city, isn’t around, we all feel it in a lot of ways. I look forward to it; I’m happy, man. Bottles on me.” Drama couldn’t confirm whether the Grand Hustle CEO will make an appearance at this Saturday’s taping of the 2011 BET Hip-Hop Awards in Atlanta. It would be fitting that he make his return on BET’s stage, but it’s also where T.I.’s legal drama began , when he was arrested on federal gun charges in October 2007 just hours before that year’s ceremony. The DJ, who is preparing the release of his own album, Third Power, was able to talk about Tip’s first post-prison track. The song, which is produced by rapper/producer Big K.R.I.T., was supposed to drop Monday but has not yet surfaced. “The record is hot,” Drama teased. “Big K.R.I.T. deserves it. He’s been working for a long time. So they’re both fans of each other, so sh– is definitely gonna be a nice sound for the ear.” What are you expecting from T.I.’s new music? Lady Gaga Questions President Obama On Bullying

Mother Monster attended an Obama fundraiser over the weekend at home of Facebook COO. By Gil Kaufman Lady Gaga Photo: BuzzFoto Lady Gaga is not one to make a promise to her Little Monsters and not keep it. That explains why she raised her hand and asked President Obama a question about bullying at a Silicon Valley fundraising event for the Commander in Chief over the weekend at the home of Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg. The $38,500-per-couple event for around 70 guests took place under a tent in Sandberg’s yard and, according to ABC News , where Gaga made good on a Twitter vow she’d posted last Wednesday in reaction to the suicide of bullied teen Jamey Rodemeyer . Gaga — who turned heads in a black dress with a dramatically plunging back, extremely high heels, a blond upswept hairdo and a black veil covering the back of her hair — brought up the issue during the Q&A segment of the event. Though a transcript of the exchange is not available, according to reports, she first thanked Obama for what he’s done so far on the subject — which includes a forum held earlier this year about bullying and an “It Gets Better” video — and then read from what she described as a letter from a fan about the suicide of another Little Monster who had been bullied. After congratulating the president on all of the things he’s accomplished so far in his first term, Gaga made what was described as a “general plea” to everyone in the room, including the president, to do what they can to prevent bullying. Obama then reportedly thanked her, re-iterated his administration’s anti-bullying work and spoke in general about the importance of values. Gaga also reportedly had a bit of face time with Obama before dinner, when she walked through the photo line with her manager and spoke to the president for two minutes in a room full of other guests. The singer dedicated her song “Hair” to Rodemeyer at Saturday’s iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas, speaking out in support of the gay teen who committed suicide last week after enduring years of bullying by his school peers. Just days after the 14-year-old’s death, Gaga was so shaken that she called on Obama to enact laws that would make bullying a hate crime. “The past days I’ve spent reflecting, crying, and yelling,” she tweeted on Wednesday. “I have so much anger. It is hard to feel love when cruelty takes someone’s life.” She went further, posting Rodemeyer’s “It Gets Better” video, and insisting that bullying “must become illegal. It is a hate crime.” It was then that she revealed she planned to meet with Obama to discuss the matter. Kelly Clarkson Gets ‘Feisty’ In ‘Mr. Know It All’ Video

Singer calls a glammed-up scene in a massive gown ‘one of my favorite shots in the video.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Kelly Clarkson in her “Mr. Know It All” video Photo: Sony Music Entertainment Kelly Clarkson shows off her many sides — sexy, glam, fun and playful, to name a few — in the brand-new, Justin Francis-directed music video for “Mr. Know It All.” The video, which dropped Monday (September 26), is a mixture of sleek performance footage and glamour shots, which play up the many personality traits of the Stronger singer. The clip even features a little something called “the Wall of Doubt,” which uses real, occasionally negative headlines that have been printed about the singer. But her favorite scene, as she told MTV News, is one where she looks super glammed up in a massive gown. “There’s different sides of me, and that whole outfit was more for all the freeing aspect,” she explained. “Like, there’s all these different sides of you, and that was the free-spirit side of me. That’s one of my favorite shots in the video. It keeps coming back to my hair everywhere.” However, the girl in that shot doesn’t tell Clarkson’s full story. “I think there’s that free-spirit side of me, and then there’s that feisty performer in me,” she continued. “Then there’s the funny side of me. I mean, obviously you have to be funny to have a big giant wall of doubt with actual headlines of your life on the wall. It’s a little fun, a little feisty.” The lead single from her October release, Stronger, was a late addition. “It was actually the last song we recorded, and we had already finished it up,” she said of “Mr. Know It All.” “That song came out of nowhere. And luckily it did, because everybody fell in love with it. “I think why I was attracted to it was, first of all, every girl has probably dated that guy, and also just in work life, I’ve known a lot of those people — especially in this industry,” she continued. “And people that try and pigeonhole you. I think I was just attracted to that idea of being a little sassy and feisty with that message.” The track was written by Brett James (Carrie Underwood), Ester Dean (Beyonc

Lady Gaga ‘Already Working’ On Born This Way Follow-Up

Singer’s manager hopes Gaga will release next LP for free. By James Montgomery Lady Gaga Photo: Kevin Mazur/WireImage This may not come as a shock to anyone who’s marveled at her multitasking ways, but just four months after the release of her Born This Way album , says she’s already working on the follow-up, which she says will be released “sooner rather than later.” That’s what she told Ryan Seacrest just before the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas, adding that the new disc is just one of many projects she’s juggling at the moment. “I’m actually already working on my next album,” she said. “So I’ve been working on that. I’ve been planning the next tour, which keeps me very excited and busy because I have lots of new ideas, and I know exactly how I want it to look. I’m also planning my next music video. I have lots of things to do, but in truth, I feel like I’m the most alive when I’m onstage.” And while there’s still no release date (or any concrete information) on Gaga’s next album, her manager, Troy Carter, recently suggested that, if he has his way, Gaga might give the record away for free. Check out photos of Lady Gaga and others at the iHeartRadio festival. “If it was up to me, I’d give away the next album and put it on every handset that I can put it on,” Carter said last week at the f8 conference in San Francisco. “You can’t be scared to fail. Sometimes we’re going to get big results, and sometimes you learn a lesson, make an adjustment and move on.” Gaga made waves back in May with the multitude of methods she promoted Born This Way, including a much-discussed 99-cent pricing scheme with Amazon.com, which temporarily crashed the site. A spokesperson for Gaga’s label could not be reached for comment by MTV News about the new album. Related Artists Lady Gaga

Mac Miller Recruits Bro For Blue Slide Park Art

‘I knew I wanted to do something with it that was more than just a picture of me,’ Pittsburgh MC tells MTV News. By Rob Markman Mac Miller Photo: MTV News Oh to be a kid again! For his debut album, Blue Slide Park, Mac Miller is paying homage to his childhood stomping grounds of Pittsburgh. The LP cover is a simple, child-like rendition of the playground, drawn by the rapper’s (born Malcolm McCormick) older brother, whose first name is actually Miller. “I knew I wanted to do something with it that was more than just a picture of me,” Mac told MTV News. “Blue Slide Park is a park in Pittsburgh we grew up at,” Miller explained to us about the album title’s significance. “Being 2, going down slides and then being 6, playing Little League and hanging out there, then being older, coming back there to drink and smoke and party, running from the cops. And now going back there just to chill out and drink a beer.” When Mac and his Most Dope team were seeking inspiration for the artwork, they consulted Google and came across a young girl’s drawing, which they eventually used as a basis for the cover design. “We came across this 8-year-old’s drawing and we were like, ‘Yo, that is like the most simple but incredible thing ever; it’s right to the point,’ ” he recalled. “Basically, the point is making something simple that can represent the whole idea. You look at it and it doesn’t look like a park, but you know that’s that Blue Slide Park.” The Blue Slide Cover is more Bob Ross than Rick Ross in its design. Deviating from more standard hip-hop cover art, the BSP front panel features a painting of multicolored triangles, with a big blue line right down the middle. To execute his vision, rather than go with famed hip-hop photogs like Jonathan Mannion or Danny Clinch, Mac recruited his big brother. “He’s always worked on art as long as I can remember,” Mac said. “He draws all the time and he’s getting into graphic design. If I can have my brother work on something for it, that’s great.” Mac Miller’s Blue Slide Park is due in stores November 8. What do you think of Mac Miller’s album cover? Tell us in the comments! Mystikal, Mannie Fresh Working On ‘Monsters’

Former No Limit MC says, ‘My star is still out there in the stratosphere.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by James “FLX” Smith Mystikal Photo: Rick Diamond/ Getty Images Mystikal has more to celebrate these days. Not only is the New Orleans rapper expecting the birth of a baby boy, the Tarantula has new music on the way and just turned 41 years old. It hasn’t always been smooth sailing for Mystikal, who was released from prison in January 2010 after a six-year incarceration stemming from charges of sexual battery, extortion and failing to file tax returns. But Thursday, Mystikal was all smiles as he performed at his own birthday bash at the Sha-La club in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. “I’m in the process of rebranding everything,” he told MTV News. “My star is still out there in the stratosphere; I just gotta get the spiderwebs off of it and shine it back up. That’s it — simple as that.” Part of that process is getting back in the studio. Though he hasn’t released an album since 2001, last year Mystikal hooked up with former Cash Money producer Mannie Fresh , and the two have been slowly cooking up new material. “We been working. Last couple of weeks, we been coming with some monsters in that studio,” Mystikal said before describing his plan for 2011: “I still gotta give them that vintage me, because that’s what I am, but I found a way to kinda bring it up to speed and still be contemporary.” Not that Mystikal is ignoring his legacy in the slightest. The former No Limit star performed a string of hits Thursday. “That wasn’t really a whole bunch of new material, that was vintage Mystikal,” he said. “It just reminds them of a moment in time when things were alright. Everybody remember that moment when “Here I Go” or “Shake it Fast” or “Make ‘Em Say Uhh” — they remember that.” Are you excited to hear new music from Mystikal? Tell us in the comments!
