Kanye West’s L.A. Home Broken Into

On Wednesday (June 13), Yeezy’s Los Angeles home was broken into while the rap superstar is out wrapping up his European Watch the Throne Tour with Jay-Z. TMZ broke the news, and an LAPD representative confirmed to MTV News that there was a break-in in the Hollywood Hills area, but did not give any information beyond that. According to TMZ, someone from ‘Ye’s camp called the police to report a break-in. It’s unclear if anything was actually taken, but witnesses told the site the thieves dropped some of Kanye’s things on their way out. In May, it was reported that the G.O.O.D. Music general put the same house on sale as a “pocket listing,” meaning all parties agreed to keep the listing private. At the same time, Yeezy’s main squeeze, Kim Kardashian, also put her L.A.-area home up for sale, sparking rumors that the couple were planning to move in together . In other Kimye news , a Yeezy rep shot down rumors that West tweeted, then quickly deleted, a nude picture of Kim. “In regards to this ‘story’ that Kanye posted and then took down intimate pictures on his Twitter account: TOTALLY FALSE. Laughably so,” a Kanye rep told MTV’s RapFix blog. “This phantom tweet never occurred on his account. This is obviously the desperate, sad act of someone seeking to gain media exposure by exploiting Kanye’s notoriety. Kanye doesn’t even know this person, has never seen this picture, and hasn’t been on his Twitter account for a day.” According to TMZ, the picture is actually of porn star Amia Miley. Sitting down with ITV1’s “Lorraine” show he said that it “did work out in a way,” adding that “you just have to have acceptance of things. She is a person that I love, but now this is a new time.” The couple announced their divorce in December 2011 , after one year of marriage. And while both the actor and the singer have been busy with a number of projects, he added, “I suppose a divorce is difficult isn’t it, because of the admin. There’s a lot of admin.” Brand’s feelings about his split from Perry mirror those he shared with Ellen DeGeneres when he was on her talk show last month. “I still love her as a human being,” the comedian said. “But sometimes when you’re in a relationship, I suppose it doesn’t work out, does it? But that doesn’t mean I regret it or anything. I was very happy to be married with her. She’s such a beautiful human being and I just have only love and positivity for her. “You can’t absolutely make everything the way you want it to be in life,” he added. “Sometimes things are just different and then you have to just move with that and try and remain in contact with what is beautiful about yourself and with each other with any situation.” Like Brand, Perry will also come to a theater near you this summer. Her 3-D concert film, “Katy Perry: Part of Me,” hits theaters on July 5. In footage teased from it, Perry is expected to touch on not only her rise to fame, but also her personal relationships, including her divorce from Brand . Ice-T ‘Made A Few Calls’ To Get Kanye In ‘Art Of Rap’

By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Ice-T on “RapFix Live” Photo: Natasha Chandel/ MTV News Kanye West doesn’t do press, but he gets the most press — or so he says in his new single “Mercy.” Booking a Yeezy interview isn’t the easiest thing to do these days (trust us), but when you’re Ice-T , nothing is impossible. In his new documentary film “Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap,” the original gangsta logged dozens of interviews with rap’s biggest names, including Dr. Dre, Eminem, Snoop Dogg and, yes, even Kanye West . “I just made a few calls, you know what I’m sayin’? I got connections that got connections to his people,” Ice told MTV News correspondent Sway Calloway about how he was able to book the elusive ‘Ye to take part in his film. On Wednesday (June 13), the rapper/actor walked onto “RapFix Live” and broke down the origins of rap in a very basic way. His film, however, really breaks it down. “We respect each other and I know he’s a spitter,” Ice said of Kanye. “I know he can really rhyme, so we made the call and he was like, ‘No problem.’ ” After the verbal agreement, it was just a matter of locking down the globetrotting Kanye. In his film, Ice got rappers to talk about their art and even got all the talent involved to kick a freestyle — another not-so-easy feat (again, trust us). Ice-T believes that when West was made aware of all the other rap legends involved in “Something From Nothing,” he was motivated to put his best foot forward. “Competition and excellence brings everybody’s game up,” Ice said, referencing ‘Ye’s rhyme that appears in the film. Booking the talent wasn’t much of a problem; for Ice, the hardest part of the doc was editing all the raw footage. “We shot 52 rappers. We had a six-hour edit on this film. Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan Will ‘Piss On’ Radiohead

By James Montgomery Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan Photo: Jim Dyson/ Getty Images The Smashing Pumpkins will return next Tuesday with Oceania, their first proper album in nearly five years, but Pumpkins mastermind Billy Corgan is already making his presence known with a series of eye-opening interviews — including one where he claims to have “killed” the band’s backward-looking fans and a new chat in which he takes shots at the music industry and one of its most sacred cows: Radiohead . In an interview with Antiquiet , Corgan let it be known that he’s grown tired of a lot of things, chief among them an industry-wide “pomposity,” which values the contributions of newer artists over those that plied their trade in past decades, and then he provides an example of said pomposity to back up his point: “I can’t think of any people outside of ‘Weird’ Al Yankovic who have both embraced and pissed on rock more than I have. Obviously, there’s a level of reverence, but there’s also a level of intelligence to even know what to piss on,” he said. ” ‘Cause I’m not pissing on Rainbow. I’m not pissing on Deep Purple. But I’ll piss on f—in’ Radiohead, because of … this value system that says [Radiohead’s] Jonny Greenwood is more valuable than [Deep Purple’s] Ritchie Blackmore. Not in the world I grew up in, buddy. Not in the world I grew up in. “So I find myself defending things,” Corgan continued. “Is Ritchie Blackmore a better guitar player than me and Jonny Greenwood? Yes. Have we all made contributions? Yes. I’m not attacking that. I’m attacking the pomposity that says ‘this’ is more valuable than ‘that.’ I’m sick of that. I’m so f—ing sick of it, and nobody seems to tire of it.” Also on the list of things he’s f—ing sick of: music journalists who have repeatedly tried to typecast him throughout his career. And, not surprisingly, on Oceania, Corgan said he’s ignoring all of that and just going for broke — armchair psychologists be damned. “Musically, I’ve done riskier things. I knew what I was doing. I was conscious. … But it’s really hard to produce great work if you don’t open up that part of your heart that just doesn’t want to be opened,” he said. “It requires a level of honesty and vulnerability that’s just really uncomfortable, certainly at 45. Because I’m just tired of hearing it. I’m tired of hearing who I am. … From ’89 on I’ve had people tell me who I am. Though the high-end sneakers sell at retail for $245, fans have been buying them online for prices far above their retail value (as much as $89,000). But luckily for Kim Kardashian, she’s dating the designer. Yeezy’s girlfriend tweeted out a photo of her new pair, which just happen to match her rapper beau’s solid black sneaks with hot pink and neon blue detailing. Her message simply reads, “His & Hers! #AirYeezys.” Kanye’s gift to his reality star girlfriend comes just days after she gave the rapper a $750,000 Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 for his 35th birthday . Kimye has certainly been making headlines since the pair started dating earlier this spring. The pair has been spotted all over the globe, hitting up the Cannes Film Festival in May , where the MC premiered his “Cruel Summer” film. TMZ reported that both Kanye and Kim put their Los Angeles-area homes up for sale, leaving some to wonder if it means that the reality star and the rapper will soon be cohabitating. Considering that “Cruel Summer” actor Aziz Ansari recently shared that Yeezy plans to premiere the artsy 30-minute short all over the U.S. in the near future, we imagine there will be more Kimye sightings soon. Carrie Underwood Comes Out In Support Of Same-Sex Marriage

 and the Wanted 
 the country superstar told England’s The Independent that she believes same-sex couples should have the same rights as she does. “As a married person myself, I don’t know what it’s like to be told I can’t marry somebody I love, and want to marry,” she said. “I can’t imagine how that must feel. I definitely think we should all have the right to love, and love publicly, the people that we want to love.” The paper noted that Underwood, who has just released a new album Blown Away 
 has a large Evangelical Christian fanbase and has spoken frequently about her faith, making it the subject of one of her biggest hits, “Jesus, Take The Wheel.” She told the paper that her liberal attitude about same-sex marriage is actually a result of her Christian values, not in conflict with them. “Our church is gay friendly,” said Underwood, 29, who was raised as Baptist, a denomination that tends to condemn homosexual behavior, but who now worships in a non-denominational congregation with hockey-player husband Mike Fisher. “Above all, God wanted us to love others. It’s not about setting rules, or [saying] ‘everyone has to be like me’. No. We’re all different. That’s what makes us special. We have to love each other and get on with each other. It’s not up to me to judge anybody.” Underwood’s comments come in the midst of a presidential campaign in which gay marriage is likely to be a hot-button issue. President Barack Obama

Jim Jones, Ice-T Will Talk O.G.s And Hip-Hop On ‘RapFix Live’

Ice will break down his new documentary, ‘Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap,’ on Wednesday at 4 p.m. ET on MTV.com. By Rob Markman Jim Jones Photo: Slaven Vlasic/ Getty Images Things are about to get really serious on this week’s “RapFix Live,” because we have the Original Gangsta and the Certified Gangsta — Ice-T and Jim Jones — sitting down with host Sway Calloway at 4 p.m. ET Wednesday. Since his 1987 debut album, Rhyme Pays, Ice-T has stood as a culture icon, dropping classic records and later breaking down barriers in film, becoming one of rap’s earliest Hollywood draws. In 1991, he landed his breakout role as Scotty Appleton in “New Jack City” and has since gone on to star in more than two-dozen roles. Other than his raps, Ice-T is most known for his role as Detective Odafin Tutuola on “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” and also stars in his own reality show, “Ice Loves Coco” on E! On Friday, Ice will release “Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap,” a documentary he directed, which will explore how hip-hop went from underground music in the inner cities of America to the dominant music genre it is today. The film stars a who’s who of rap greats like Eminem, Dr. Dre, Nas and Kanye West. On Wednesday, Ice will break it all down. Jim Jones has also found an interest in film. Jones co-stars in VH1’s reality series “Love & Hip Hop,” and for his latest mixtape, Vampire Life 2: F.E.A.S.T. (The Last Supper), the Dipset capo prepared a number of cinematic videos that he plans to string together to form one continuous storyline. “I picked, like, eight songs, and I’ve strung ’em along like movies,” Jones told Mixtape Daily back in May. “Something good for people to look at. I haven’t seen something like that in a minute. I think it’ll be very interesting.” Jones will tell Sway what fans can expect next from him. That’s not all: Bronx, New York, MC Fred the Godson will also swing by the “RapFix” set and drop an exclusive freestyle. You’re not going to want to miss it.
