Britney Spears Explains Her Definition Of Femme Fatale

‘The bitch is back and better than ever!’ the pop singer jokingly declares in her new V magazine cover story. By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears Photo: V Magazine Britney Spears’ spread in V magazine finally hit newsstands on Thursday (March 3). In the cover story, in which Spears opens up about her forthcoming album, Femme Fatale , the star also chats about what qualities define that mysterious type of woman. She says, “[A femme fatale is] a woman who is sexy and strong, dangerous and mysterious, cool and confident.” As displayed in a number of song teases and even first single “Hold It Against Me,” Femme Fatale certainly has an emphasis on club bangers. And Spears reveals in the V chat which tune off the album she’s most looking forward to having fans hear. “I really love ‘On the Rocks’ because it sounds so different from anything I have ever heard,” she explains. “It’s so cool and quirky.” The decision to make a dance record mostly came from Spears, who admits that she prefers to make tunes that will get fans out on the floor. “I like music that makes you move and connects with your soul. I like to feel inspired right away when I listen to new music,” she says. “I always have songs being sent to me from new artists and producers from all over the world, which is really cool. From there I just follow my heart.” Spears certainly has a strong message for her fans, and perhaps even for the critics who may wonder if the star still has what it takes to compete in an overpopulated pop universe. Her message for them: “That the bitch is back and better than ever!” She continues, “I love making new music for my fans, I love performing for my fans, and most importantly, I love my fans. I am so lucky to have their support. They drive me.” Also in the issue, Spears talks about the media scrutiny she’s endured in recent years, as well as discussing her life now as both a pop star and a mom to her two young sons. “I’m past all of that. I try to block it all out and not pay attention to anything they write about me in the magazines or online. I’m done with that,” she explains. “I think it’s easier to let people in when you’re younger, but when I became a mother I wanted more privacy for myself and my children. A life away from my life.” Spears insists that she has no plans to fade into obscurity anytime soon, while admitting that she would focus on motherhood if she had never become a pop star. “I’d be a full-time mom, which would be cool. I’d miss my fans and all of the love the most, but I definitely would not miss having my picture taken everywhere I go,” she says. I wouldn’t miss showering in arenas either. So gross!” So how would she like to be remembered in the future? “[I hope my legacy is] two amazing boys and a lot of music that hopefully brings a lot of people a lot of happiness,” she explains. Michael Jackson Doctor’s Trial Delayed

Judge pushes start of Conrad Murray’s trial back to May. By Gil Kaufman Conrad Murray Photo: AFP/ Getty Images LOS ANGELES — Though Conrad Murray’s lawyers had been pressing for a speedy trial, a judge in the involuntary manslaughter case against Michael Jackson’s doctor ruled on Wednesday to delay opening statements in the proceedings until May. The Associated Press reported that Murray’s attorneys consented to the postponement after they discussed the matter with prosecutors and both agreed they could be ready for trial by May 9. According to a transcript from the closed-door session, though opening statements will not begin for several months, Murray told Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor that he did not want to forfeit his right to a quick trial, but agreed to the delay if screening of prospective jurors begins as scheduled on March 24. “It is only acceptable to me if this is not strung along over a long period of time,” Murray told the justice. “I don’t want to lose my constitutional right to speedy trial.” Murray — who has pleaded not guilty to the charges — reportedly has been in favor of having the proceedings begin as soon as possible because he is facing financial troubles, but he said he understands that the delay is necessary to allow both sides to prepare for the trial. Pastor consented because he said he didn’t want to lose a jury pool, and believed a month-long delay might let potential jurors shuffle their schedules for the case, which could take up to two months to decide. The judge has reportedly clashed with Murray’s defense team in recent weeks, pressing them for answers about why they had not turned over more witness notes and other potential evidence to prosecutors in the run-up to the trial. Cardiologist Murray was hired to be Jackson’s personal physician while the King of Pop prepared for his planned 50-date comeback series of shows at London’s O2 arena in the summer of 2009. The doctor told police that he provided the then-50-year-old Jackson with sedatives and the surgical anesthetic propofol in order to combat the singer’s chronic insomnia. He said he did so on the morning of June 25, 2009, when Jackson died of what a coroner deemed acute propofol poisoning. Murray’s lawyers reportedly plan to argue that Jackson was already in weak health before he died, that it’s unfair to blame propofol for his passing and that, if the anesthetic was to blame, the pop superstar may have given himself the fatal dose by drinking the drug in a panic. A status hearing in the case has been set for this Wednesday. Related Videos Remembering Michael Jackson Related Photos Michael Jackson: A Life In Photos Related Artists Michael Jackson

Justin Bieber Apologizes For Paparazzi Run-In

Also, Selena Gomez’s rep denies she was attacked by a jealous Bieber fan. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez celebrate his 17th birthday dinner at Maggiano’s Little Italy at The Grove in Los Angeles on Tuesday Photo: x17online.com Justin Bieber has experienced the many highs of fame, what with chart-topping albums, a blockbuster movie, sold-out tours and a dedicated fanbase. But on his 17th birthday , the star also came face-to-face with the one main drawback of being a celebrity: the onslaught of the paparazzi. While Bieber was celebrating his birthday in Los Angeles on Tuesday, the star and his lady, teen queen Selena Gomez , were surrounded by the paparazzi while leaving L.A. area restaurant, Maggiano’s, Popeater reported. In the heat of the moment, Bieber gave the hungry photogs the middle finger, while Gomez shielded her face from their flashing cameras. Bieber later took to Twitter to clear the air about the incident and apologize for reacting the way he did. “Had a great bday and at the end of the night we got surrounded by paps and I reacted in a way I know better. I’m sorry #killthemwithkindness,” he shared, adding , “It’s not always easy but I know better than to react in anger.” Shortly after that, rumors began to surface that Gomez was shielding her face from the many camera lenses because she had allegedly been punched by an angry Bieber fan over her relationship with the pop star. The Twitter trend #sorryjustin had some speculating that fans were apologizing for that one fan’s incident with the actress/singer. But Gomez’s rep told People.com that there’s “absolutely no truth” to any of that. Photos from the night do, however, show what appears to be an injury of some kind on Gomez’s lip. ‘It’s amazing the way two people are the same kind of people from two different generations,’ Snoop says of his younger collaborator. By Steven Roberts Snoop Dogg Photo: MTV News Wiz Khalifa and Snoop Dogg share a few uncanny similarities. Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ Fashions Decoded

Gaga’s inner circle reveals the secrets behind the looks in the video. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga (file) Photo: Tom Briglia/ WireImage While its visuals were no doubt memorable for fans of the “Born This Way” video , Lady Gaga’s funky fashions have also caught the eye of fashionistas everywhere. The video’s creative director, Laurieann Gibson , credits Gaga’s stylist, Nicola Formichetti, for embracing eye-catching couture for the Nick Knight-directed clip. “When we found Nicola Formichetti — we found him when we were doing Much Music — before that we were just basically hustling and she was making a lot of the costumes, and we were grinding and America Apparel was our best friend,” Gibson recalled. “And then we found Nicola and he just got it. So when we’re on set, the Haus is such a collaboration, and Nicola is inspired and loves the passion of the dance. He is fashion, and him and Gaga together are magic. To see them push and pull, it’s just a real process. It’s like the Factory. It’s very Warhol how we operate.” Formichetti blogged about the video’s expansive fashion credits. In the opening sequence of the video, the star wears a head accessory by Alexis Bittar, a diamond neckpiece by Erickson Beamon with earrings by Pamela Love, and a stained-glass dress by Petra Storrs. Gaga also wears finger rings by Erickson Beamon and the technical chiffon was designed by Thierry Mugler. During the birthing scene, co-star Raquel Zimmermann wears a bodysuit by Atsuko Kudo and a neckpiece by the Baroness. Gaga wears shoes by Natacha Marro. In the following scene, Zimmerman wears boots by Kobi Levi. And for Gaga’s floating head scene, she wears Kudo and Levi, as well. During the evil-Gaga gun scene, the singer dons knife shoes by Mugler, a dress by Sorcha O’ Raghallaigh and gloves by Portolano. When the song finally kicks in, Gaga wears skimpy lingerie that includes a bra by OMD, underwear by NYC Sex Trash by Stephanie Paterek, gloves by LaCrasia and customized half-sole shoes by Capezio. She completes the look with a special “BTW” jacket by TomTom. For the “Born This Way” skeleton scene, both she and her skeleton lover, Rico, wear tuxedos by Mugler. For the orgy, the slime is courtesy of Bart Hess. For her Michael Jackson impression in the alley, Gaga wears a shirt and pants by Haus of Gaga, shoes by Natacha Marro, a Billykirk belt and LaCrasia gloves. Can Christina Aguilera Regain Her Pop-Diva Crown?

Singer’s arrest tops year of troubles for Grammy winner. By Gil Kaufman Christina Aguilera Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images The pattern has, unfortunately, become fairly predictable at this point. A young star experiences stratospheric early success, lives a high-flying lifestyle and engages in over-the-top rebellious behavior and then begins to spin out of control after experiencing some personal and professional disappointments. The latest victim is former Grammy winner Christina Aguilera, whose annus horribilis reached its peak on Tuesday morning when she and her boyfriend both ended up behind bars . A year ago, Aguilera was on the cusp of a return to the spotlight after nearly three years away, during which she celebrated the birth of her son and recorded a new album, Bionic, which was tagged as her futuristic stab at retaking her pop-diva mantle. “There’s no other way of looking at the last year in her career other than to say it’s been trying,” said Keith Caulfield, the associate director of charts for Billboard magazine. “A lot of artists have tough times and go through all sorts of drama. Mariah Carey had her ‘TRL’ moment when ‘Glitter’ bombed and ‘Loverboy’ didn’t do what she wanted, but she came back with ‘We Belong Together,’ and was better than ever. Everyone was writing [Aguilera] off because that’s what we like to do — beat people while they’re down.” Although authorities have said she won’t be prosecuted, Aguilera was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of public intoxication on Tuesday morning after her boyfriend Matthew Rutler was pulled over on suspicion of driving under the influence. It was the latest hiccup in a year of difficulties for Aguilera, which began with the flop of her 2010 Bionic album, which has sold only 250,000 copies in the U.S. to date. That was followed by a hastily canceled U.S. tour , the failure of her big-screen debut in “Burlesque” and the announcement of her separation and pending divorce from husband Jordan Bratman. Those incidents were followed by her infamous flubbing of the lyrics at February’s Super Bowl and a stumble on the Grammys stage a week later, amid tabloid reports that her partying had gotten out of hand. Billboard ‘s Caulfield said he didn’t think Aguilera’s troubles are comparable to the very public difficulties suffered by Britney Spears several years ago or even Lindsay Lohan’s string of trips to jail and rehab, but that the pileup of Christina’s career and personal setbacks may have been amplified by the speed at which information and photos are disseminated on the Net these days. “Because of the coverage and the way things happen so quickly on the Internet, there’s no room for an, ‘Oh, I screwed up the lyrics or I stumbled.’ The problem is that everything she’s done over the past year was on a significant magnitude: her first starring role, the Super Bowl!” Had all the other previous incidents not happened, Caulfield said people may not have even noticed Aguilera’s stumble at the Grammys, a trip that Caulfield himself, who was at the show, said he didn’t even detect. “I can’t imagine how difficult it is to be Aguilera now: you have a kid, you’re separating from your husband, the album you waited four years to put out no one bought, it’s got to be tough.” PR expert and star of the Kim Kardashian-produced E! show “The Spin Crowd,” Jonathan Cheban said some of Aguilera’s problems may stem from her public image. “She has an incredible voice … she’s won Grammys … but it’s a different story than Britney,” Cheban said of the comparison to Spears and other stars like Lohan and Robert Downey Jr. who’ve had public spirals. “Christina’s definitely had a bad year, but there have been so many stories over the years about how unfriendly she is and how she doesn’t treat the people around her right, that I think people are more eager to take her down. Nobody is rooting for her because over the years she’s not been one to root for anyone else.” Before things went south for her, Cheban said it was hard to knock Aguilera off her pedestal because she was producing hit albums, winning Grammys and being asked to appear in movies such as Martin Scorsese’s 2008 Rolling Stones documentary, “Shine a Light.” But once things started to fall apart, he said, the knives came out. “There were no breaks, really,” he noted. “From the album tanking, the movie tanking, the divorce … she did a weird 360 in her life and went into hiding, and when you hide too much these days, people don’t like that. If you’re not out there, people will come after you and not in a positive way.” So, is it bad luck or bad karma? “Look at [Lady] Gaga,” Cheban continued. “If she’s trying to compete with [Gaga], then she should have praised her. Gaga is a woman of the people and everyone loves her and she’s fun and she’s out there and honest.” Caulfield said another problem is that while Aguilera was away, a new crop of younger, hotter models (Gaga, Katy Perry, Ke$ha) rose up to take her place and when Bionic failed, she purposely took herself out of the spotlight and seemed to amplify the career stall-out. “Pick a diva, they’ve all had their issues and failures — Madonna, Whitney Houston, Mariah,” he said. “We love a comeback story, though, and, of course, whatever her next thing is, hopefully it will work and people will love her again.” What do you think of Christina’s latest personal and professional woes? Lady Gaga’s ‘Government Hooker’ Makes Fashion-Show Debut

Dance track from Born This Way has a thumping beat and operatic vocals. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga walks the runway during the Mugler Paris Women’s Fashion Week show Photo: Francois Durand/ Getty Images Lady Gaga managed to look like a seasoned pro when she hit the catwalk for Mugler’s Paris Women’s Fashion Week show , where she made her debut as a model. The singer donned two looks, one all-black and the other white, for her rousing appearance. While her runway appearance was certainly headline-making, it was the fact that Gaga previewed part of a Born This Way song for the fashionistas that was even more noteworthy. The dance track, “Government Hooker,” was the latest song Gaga has teased fans with from her May release. It featured a thumping beat, operatic vocals and a trance-y vibe. On it, she sings sexy lines like, “I can be anything/ I’ll be your everything/ Just touch me, baby.” The massive club track features Gaga’s full voice sharing requests like, “Put your hands on me.” On the track about desire, she sings, “I’m gonna drink my tears tonight/ I’m gonna drink my tears and cry/ ‘Cause I know you love me, baby.” During the show, she also played “Schei
