Justin Bieber Causes Chaos In Norway

Singer asks fans to obey police as outdoor concert turns into mob scene. By John Mitchell Justin Bieber performs in Oslo, Norway Photo: Getty Images Justin Bieber attracts a crowd wherever he goes, but things got a little out of hand in Norway on Wednesday as the pop star kicked off the European promo tour behind his new album, Believe . Bieber was in the Scandinavian country’s capital city, Oslo, to perform a free six-song concert outside of the Oslo Opera House, but the site was quickly overrun by several thousand fans, who at one point began chasing after a car presumed to be transporting Bieber to the concert location while ignoring police warnings and causing a spike in mobile usage that briefly crippled cellular service in the city. Police reportedly threated to cancel the performance — and, according to TMZ , nearly declared a state of emergency — before Bieber took to Twitter to try to calm his legion of fans. “Please listen to the police. I don’t want anyone getting hurt. I want everything to go to plan but your safety must come first,” Bieber tweeted . “For the show to happen u must all listen to the police. We are all concerned for your safety and I want what is best for u. Please listen.” The “Boyfriend” singer’s words of caution apparently tamed fans enough, and police allowed the show to proceed. However, officials demanded Bieber push the start time back by half an hour so scene security would not deteriorate further. Billboard reports that an on-scene security officer said “about 15 girls passed out.” Police cite the venue chosen as one of the key issues that contributed to the chaotic scene: “The concert should be held somewhere other than roof of the Opera, which has clear space limitations,” a police official told the Norwegian NRK news service . The concert was filmed as part of Bieber’s upcoming ” Justin Bieber: All Around the World ” TV special, which follows the singer on his 12-day, seven-country promo tour. The special is set to air at 8 p.m. June 21 on NBC. Bieber is currently on his way to Paris for his next appearance. This isn’t the first time Bieber’s presence has resulted in an out-of-control scene: In November 2009, a teenage girl was injured and several fights broke out as thousands descended on the Roosevelt Field Mall in Long Island, New York , in what devolved into a stampede ahead of the singer’s scheduled appearance there. Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, was charged with reckless endangerment and criminal nuisance for failing to properly control the situation after receiving police warnings about potential problems at the venue. Those charges were later dropped. Related Videos MTV First: Justin Bieber Related Photos The Evolution Of: Justin Bieber Related Artists Justin Bieber

Nicki Minaj Offers No ‘Apology’ On Explosive Hot 97 Call

‘I wouldn’t dare come on your stage and say something negative about Hot 97,’ Minaj says in heated radio interview. By Nadeska Alexis Nicki Minaj Photo: Kevin Winter/ Getty Images Hip-hop beefs come and go, and while some battles are fought lyrically and others are resolved under wraps, once in awhile they need to be aired out on public radio. Nicki Minaj called in to New York City’s Hot 97 on Monday night to do the latter, and she demanded that her conversation with DJ Funkmaster Flex be aired uncut and unedited. The YMCMB rapper was tuning in to address the controversy that started on Sunday when she pulled out of Hot 97’s annual Summer Jam concert in New Jersey after a brief tweet from Lil Wayne that read, “Young Money ain’t doing summer jam.” Word had gotten back to Weezy that Hot 97 personality Peter Rosenberg had disrespected Minaj, calling her single “Starships” “wack” and panning it for not being “real hip-hop.” To fans who were not at the show or watching the Summer Jam live stream, the first indication that things had gone sour were a series of tweets from Minaj’s account such as, “Wow. U ni–az just f—ed up history. But the President has spoken. #YMCMB.” During their heated discussion, which opened with Flex admitting that they’d already been arguing for an hour, Nicki Minaj was adamant in insisting that Rosenberg chose the wrong time and place to voice his negative opinions. “It’s not about his opinion, because I have opinions about DJs on Hot 97 and I have opinions on Hot 97,” she said. “But when it’s about us uniting people [for] your show, I wouldn’t dare come on your stage and say something negative about Hot 97, leading up to that concert.” “My fans at Summer Jam didn’t appreciate his comments, nor did my fans who were watching the live stream appreciate his comments,” she added. “This is streaming to the world. Nicki Minaj opened up that stream to show to kids in London and Paris. It was hosted on my website and those requests came from your station. I posted the links.” Flex countered that Nicki was overreacting when she listened to Lil Wayne and pulled out of the show, and he accused her of riling up fans on Twitter before dealing with the issue internally. But Minaj wasn’t having any of it, maintaining that what Weezy says goes. “I don’t go against the president of my label. Before I had New York radio, I had Wayne,” she said emphatically. “I will never go against Wayne. I can’t believe after all these years, he’s still teaching me. After a man goes onstage and disrespects me and tries to rile people up, I still was going on that stage, and shame on me. Lil Wayne gave me a valuable lesson in self-worth. He tweeted before he called me, and when I spoke to him he said, ‘Nick, we ain’t doing that show.’ ” Minaj explained that the attack felt extra-vindictive since she was the only woman on the roster (but not because she was the only woman on the roster), and plenty of yelling and screaming took place, sometimes punctuated by Minaj repeating Flex’s name slowly, in an effort to calm him down. One final issue that she needed to address was Flex’s earlier radio rant, when he defended Rosenberg and Hot 97 and made questionable remarks about her music sales . “When you give stats to the world, people listen to you, and it’s important that people know Nicki Minaj is actually out here selling records, singles and making money for Universal,” she said, rattling off the sales numbers she’s raked in with Pink Friday and Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, topping it off with my favorite line, “I get money.” It wouldn’t be completely accurate to say that things ended on a positive note, but it seems like Minaj had the upper hand here. Flex admitted that Rosenberg could’ve picked a better time to criticize her, and she still stuck by Wayne’s decision to pull her out of the show, reiterating, “This is my hometown. I wanted to come onstage for my fans, my Barbz, my babies.” When Flex made one final joking attempt to get an apology out of her, you can probably guess the tone of her response. “Excuse me?” No radio station that allowed someone to disrespect me is getting an apology.” What do you think about Minaj pulling out of the show following Rosenberg’s remarks? Chris Martin, Rihanna Are Deadly Ninjas In ‘Princess Of China’ Video

Fierce Coldplay clip leaked to the Net on Saturday. By Jocelyn Vena Rihanna on the set of the “Princess of China” video Photo: Island/Def Jam Coldplay and Rihanna have been teasing their “Princess of China” video for a while now. On Saturday (June 2), the clip leaked ahead of its scheduled Monday release date. The trippy video is full of surreal images that play on the song’s references to Asia, with Chris Martin and Rihanna donning all sorts of ninja and ninja-goddess couture. A desert, the sky and some ancient-looking Chinese palaces all serve as backgrounds. Martin and Rih Rih also do some sword-wielding and ninja kicks, for good measure. In more emotional parts of the clip, Rihanna and Martin, playing star-crossed lovers, kneel in the desert, forehead to forehead, as they mourn the loss of their love. But the moving image soon turns violent as they float through the air and partake in a ninja battle. Much like the characters in the song, the onscreen characters are torn up about their dying love. And while the love story is at the center of the clip, Rihanna’s look is also a standout as she appears in several forms: multi-armed goddess, heartbroken geisha and fierce warrior princess. The official June 4 release date had been pushed back from May before leaking to the Net on Saturday, the same day Rihanna dropped some behind-the-scenes photos on Facebook . In the images, her hair is done up in a geisha bun and she wears long, fringe earrings. They’re similar to shots she released back in March from the video shoot. “Her bit on our record is my favorite bit,” the Coldplay frontman told MTV News last fall about Rihanna’s feature on Mylo Xyloto . “When the song came out, it sort of asked for her to be on it. And I think at this point, we have nothing to lose, and so we’ve been trying some new things and trying to break down the perceived boundaries between different types of music.” Share your thoughts on the “Princess of China” video in the comments! I’ve been really hard at work in the studio, in the dance studio, just kind of figuring out what I want to do as far as choreography and whatnot,” he said. “I think the tour’s going to be really special. We got a lot of surprises.” While it’s a few months until Bieber kicks off his formal tour, he is currently traveling the globe promoting his new album. Bieber just wrapped up several shows in Italy and tweeted that he will soon land in Spain. He will release his new album, Believe, on June 19. In the lead-up to the release, the singer just dropped a new single, “Die in Your Arms,” last week. When MTV News caught up with Bieber before Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards , he threw all his support behind multi-nominee “Bridesmaids.” “I just think it was funny. Kat Graham Takes Us Movie Awards Dress Shopping!

‘It’s slightly terrifying, but it’s going to be really fun,’ Graham tells MTV News of her Movie Awards style correspondent gig. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Christina Garibaldi Kat Graham Photo: John Shearer/Invision for MTV LOS ANGELES — Kat Graham will be asking everyone who they’re wearing when she hits the 2012 MTV Movie Awards red carpet this Sunday. The “Vampire Diaries” star and singer has been handpicked to be MTV’s Special Style Correspondent on the red carpet before all the madness kicks off for the main show. Before Graham hits the carpet at the Gibson Amphitheatre on Sunday, she needs that perfect outfit to wear for the festivities. And she invited MTV News along for a special fitting. “No pressure! I just have to be very familiar with the designers and the artists and everyone nominated,” she said. “It’s slightly terrifying, but it’s going to be really fun.” When it comes to her look, she explained that she has a specific philosophy. “I wanted to have something that was different, especially since I’m the fashion correspondent,” she said. “And I want to set a standard.” One look Kat tried on was black with colored beads and a see-through skirt. “I like it. It’s funky and slightly tame, I think, for me. The feathers are fun and it’s definitely good if you are bored and you want to play around with your outfit, gives you something to do,” she said. “But it might be a little too much.” She then tried on a multi-colored gladiator-style dress, again with see-through detailing and beads. “I don’t know. You think the armor shoulders are too much? You never know if somebody’s going to attack your shoulders. You have to be ready — anything can happen at the Movie Awards,” she said. “This is not going to work.” To find out what she does end up wearing, tune in to the pre-show on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on MTV during the “Movie Awards Punk’d Pre-Party.” Graham will join MTV News’ very own Sway Calloway, Josh Horowitz and Jim Cantiello as they chat up all the big stars. The night will also feature a very special new episode of “Punk’d” with pro-pranker Ashton Kutcher pulling fast ones on Drake and Kim Kardashian. The 2012 MTV Movie Awards, hosted by Russell Brand , will follow at 9 p.m. Featured performers include Fun. , the Black Keys, Martin Solveig and Wiz Khalifa . Pusha T’s Making ‘Superhero’ Music, The-Dream Teases

‘We just need him to be this guy for us right now, because I need that music in my car,’ Dream tells MTV News of Push’s album. By Nadeska Alexis with reporting by Rahman Dukes The-Dream and Pusha T Photo: MTV News Pusha T is still surprised that his opportunity to drop a solo album came around so quickly. But since he has the chance, the Clipse rapper and G.O.O.D. Music signee has immersed himself in a new learning experience with Kanye West and The-Dream, one he’s confident will result in a classic LP. Between the mad genius that is Kanye and the R&B storyteller that is The-Dream, Pusha might’ve just hit the production jackpot. “I’ve learned so much about song structure from Dream and I’ve learned so much from ‘Ye about finding the most colorful parts of your rhymes, editing it down and making sure, like, all the best parts of the rhyme are right in your face,” he told MTV News during a studio session with Mr. Terius Nash in Atlanta. “I’ve just totally taken this [attitude of] sitting back and absorbing everything they say.” After just a few sessions with Dream, Pusha said he has learned to accept the creative criticism as a tool to push further. “Sometimes [a track is] wrong. Sometimes it’s over-rapped and [The-Dream] will tell you, ‘Nah, stay right here. Stay within these lines, in these perimeters right here.’ This sh– is school, man; it’s real live school to me.” What might be school for Pusha, however, is just another spiritual experience for The-Dream, who’s infamous for crafting engrossing narrative across his projects. “It’s [being] spiritual about it and I think it’s just a timing thing,” The-Dream explained of how he builds the perfect songs. “It has a lot to do with what we want to hear, so it wasn’t [like I wouldn’t] allow Pusha to get off on rapping. We just need [him] to be this guy for us right now, because I need that music in my car. I’m R&B, but I grew up on Bankhead and I was riding around with UGK in my car, so I know what that real sh– is. I know how it makes you feel like a superhero.” “I want to feel like I’m literally beating my chest out the car,” he added. “You look over in my car — I’m mean-mugging you, you mean-mugging me, and I got Pusha in my deck. That’s how I want to feel. And so I was just providing that feeling, I just wanted to capture it in each song. We need [him] to say this because [he’s] talented enough to do it.” Thus far, we know that a few titles on the album will tentatively include “40 Acres” and “Automatic.” But Pusha, who recently dropped the fiery “Exodus 23:1,” is sure that the entire project will be cohesive and, of course, classic. “At the end of the day, we’re trying to make classic material,” he said. “Everybody who’s here is tuned into this project — period. It’s about being cohesive, and cohesive musicality is just not happening right now.” Since Pusha and The-Dream are hitting it off so well on this album, we asked if we might expect any future collaborations? “Man, I called him about the next album, already,” Pusha said without hesitation. And to that, The-Dream said with a laugh, “We will grow old together.” Are you excited for Pusha’s solo album? Tell us in the comments! Related Artists Pusha T The-Dream

Pete Rock Open To Working With Lupe Fiasco

‘I would love to work with him, and I wouldn’t turn my nose to it,’ veteran producer tells MTV News. By Nadeska Alexis, with reporting by Sway Calloway Pete Rock Photo: MTV News Pete Rock made headlines last week for getting into a little tiff with Lupe Fiasco over Rock’s classic 1992 track “They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.),” but the veteran producer has put the drama behind him, and now he’s focused on his upcoming projects, including a possible collaboration with the Chicago rapper. “If the artist doesn’t like something I did or said, then we could work through it with a conversation. That’s always my goal — it’s never to add fuel to the fire,” Pete Rock told MTV News of the falling out with Lupe. “I would love to get in the studio and work with him if his management team can respect me as a man, and the label can respect me as a man, and Lupe himself can respect me as a man. I would love to work with him, and I wouldn’t turn my nose to it.” While the dust settles and we wait to see if a collaboration between the two comes to fruition, Rock is prepping for his joint LP with DJ Premier, which is set to debut next year. “We’re gonna do a 20-city European tour to announce our project that we’re working on for the spring of 2013,” he explained. “I’m working with Young Money artist Cory Gunz, who grabbed 15 of my beats and he likes them all, but I’m telling him, ‘Lil homey, take your time, do whatever your process is.” Other projects in the works include an official remake of “T.R.O.Y.,” which will commemorate the 20th anniversary of Rock and C.L. Smooth’s 1992 debut LP, Mecca and the Soul Brother , rolling around June 3. “I’m bringing C.L. Smooth back out to redo ‘Reminisce’ with a couple of today’s artists,” Rock explained, although he declined to name the artists he had in mind. He did, however, share a few of his favorite contemporary producers, including Nottz, DJ Khalil, Alchemist and Hit-Boy. Are you excited for Pete Rock’s return? Tell us below! Justin Bieber Nursing Eyebrow Injury After Concussion

‘I got into a fight with glass window yesterday and in result I can’t move my eyebrow,’ he says in a new video message from Paris. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images Justin Bieber told fans Thursday that despite bumping into a glass wall and getting a concussion , he felt “fine.” Well, one day after the incident in Paris, the singer posted a video message noting that he has encountered one minor setback on his road to recovery. “I got into a fight with glass window yesterday and in result I can’t move my eyebrow. There’s no wrinkles on this side. How weird is that? It’s the weirdest thing. Some weird stuff going on there,” he said, laughing as the video ended. On Friday afternoon (June 1), Bieber must have been feeling better despite the eyebrow injury as he took to a balcony in Paris to put on an impromptu concert. According to Reuters, he used a megaphone as he serenaded fans who gathered near the Pantheon monument in the Latin Quarter. In the lead-up to the performance, Bieber tweeted the address and wrote that he was “moving a little slower today and running a little late. PARIS I will see u soon on that balcony #WithDanKanter,” Bieber’s musical director and lead guitarist. So did he think the show went well? “Loved singing with all of you #WithDanKanter – just like old times.” In addition to performing in Paris, Bieber also planned to check out Jay-Z and Kanye West ‘s show on Friday night. “#BiebasInParis #WATCHTHETHRONE #PARIS #LEGGO.” Also, Bieber had this reminder for fans who may have forgotten he’s dropping an album this month : “#June19th #18Days #BELIEVE.” When MTV News caught up with Bieber before Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards , he threw all his support behind multi-nominee “Bridesmaids.” “I just think it was funny. Black Keys Reveal ‘Strange’ Story Behind New ‘Gold On The Ceiling’ Video

Keys premiere the wacky Harmony Korine-directed clip days before they take the stage at this Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards. By James Montgomery The Black Keys in their “Gold on the Ceiling” video Photo: Warner Music Back in February, when MTV News sat down with the Black Keys to premiere their “Gold on the Ceiling” video, they let it be known that they had just shot another clip — this one directed by oddball auteur Harmony Korine — though they weren’t really sure what it was for. “We did a video with Harmony, but it’s not really for ‘Gold on the Ceiling,’ ” frontman Dan Auerbach said. “Well, it is, sort of,” drummer Patrick Carney added. And though he couldn’t say when the clip would see the light of day, Auerbach went on to describe it thusly: “Pat and I are dressed up like babies, in onesies, and we’re in BabyBj

Flo Rida Tried To Keep ‘Whistle’ As Clean As Possible

‘But if you listen to it, you can take it another way as well,’ Flo Rida tells MTV news of his latest single. By Rob Markman Flo Rida Photo: MTV News Flo Rida sure has a way with words. On one hand, the Miami spitter crafts catchy tunes that appeal to the masses, but Flo is also a master of the double entendre, masking some pretty suggestive lyrics with a candy-pop coating. His latest single , “Whistle,” is a perfect example. “Can you blow my whistle baby, whistle baby? Let me know,” Flo croons on the hook before he instructs his lady to put her lips together and “come real close.” “It’s definitely for referees,” Flo Rida joked when he visited earlier in May. “Well, put your own swing on it, but for the most part I keep it clean, but if you listen to it, you can take it another way as well,” he finally admitted about his infectious pop single “Whistle” isn’t the first time Flo employed such dual meanings. On his 2009 #1 Billboard Hot 100 single “Right Round” he didn’t leave much to the imagination, singing, “You spin my head right round, when you go down” on the chorus. It’s a playful formula that has paid huge dividends for the rapper, but how does he know where to draw the line between sexually suggestive and downright dirty? Well, he gets a little help. “I’m not the only one in the studio a lot of times, so I have my boys in there and they’ll tell me and give me their suggestions and what they think,” he explained. “If it’s too much I’ll go back.” So has Flo ever crossed that line? “Yeah, definitely [on] records that you won’t hear,” he confirmed. “But for the most part I go into the studio with it all planned out.” What do you think of Flo Rida’s “Whistle”?
