Lady Gaga’s New Single Is ‘So Beautiful,’ RedOne Says

Born This Way producer says, ‘We get into the studio and suddenly magic happens.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Matt Elias Lady Gaga Photo: Steven Lawton/FilmMagic On February 13, Lady Gaga will finally release the first single off her highly anticipated May release, Born This Way . Sure, Gaga has said she wants this to be the best album of the decade and that it will most likely “piss people off,” but little is known about the album’s vibe sonically. Her producer, RedOne, wouldn’t spill too many details about the single when MTV News caught up with him at the LA Times’ The Envelope Roundtable – Music Producers, but he did let everyone know that the pair have once again made magic happen. “I think it’s too precious to talk about,” RedOne explained. “It’s so beautiful, and Gaga is very special to all of us — to the world.” Last fall, Gaga blew her fans away when she released “Bad Romance,” a catchy, incredibly massive tune including her very own Gaga battle cry. The epic lead single off The Fame Monster has fans and haters wondering if she could ever top herself. RedOne said you don’t have to worry about that. “Honestly, the only thing we do is we get into the studio and suddenly magic happens,” he said. “We never overthink, or we just do what we do. That’s how it all started. With ‘Just Dance,’ we did it in one hour. There was no overthinking. Even though I remember when we did ‘Poker Face,’ people said musically it brought something new to the music and you won’t be able to top it, we went into the studio and we did ‘Bad Romance’ on a bus. “That explains how we do it, so I can’t tell you anything about what’s coming but that’s what we do. We just get in and do music we love and feel it, and thank God it comes out good.” How do you expect Born This Way to sound? Give us your predictions in the comments! Related Artists Lady Gaga

Jennifer Lopez Plays Dance Diva On New Single ‘On The Floor’

RedOne-produced tune featuring Pitbull premiered on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show. By James Dinh Jennifer Lopez Photo: Jeffrey Mayer/ WireImage With the new season of “American Idol” premiering Wednesday, you’d think Jennifer Lopez would have enough on her plate. However, the singer/actress is working hard at a full-blown musical comeback as her brand-new single, “On the Floor,” featuring Pitbull, premiered early Tuesday morning (January 18) on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show . In the track produced by RedOne, Lopez commands the dance floor over a techno beat, which incorporates a sample of Kaoma’s worldwide hit “Lambada.” “If you go hard, you gotta get on the floor/ If you’re a party freak, then step on the floor/ If you’re an animal, then tear up the floor/ Break a sweat on the floor/ Yeah, we work on the floor,” she sings. Jenny fans got their early fix when the demo for the Pitbull-assisted tune hit the Internet on Friday. Later that day, Seacrest sent Lopez fans into a frenzy when he revealed he would debut the finalized version of the track this week. Lopez is expected to make a radio appearance with her “Idol” co-star on his radio show Wednesday. “Fun talking to you on the carpet last night … look forward to catching up Wednesday morning on air!!!” she tweeted . J. Lo has been teasing fans about her collaboration with super-producer RedOne (Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance” and “Bad Romance”) via Twitter . “I see u @RedOne_Official! We’re making BIG things happen ‘On the Floor’ this new year!!!” she wrote last week. Back in November, RedOne spoke to Blackbook magazine about his studio sessions with the singer, saying, “Musically, I’m trying to combine all the elements that [make] her who she is. We connected, and it was easy to work together. She’s in another headspace. She’s very positive and content. She knows what she wants to do.” In addition to “On the Floor,” the entertainer’s viral clip for her buzz track “Good Hit” also surfaced online. In the minute-and-a-half clip, the Latin bombshell instructs her all-female class on the latest in “Advanced Fierceology/ Work It Out 101.” What do you think of J. Lo’s new tune? Justin Bieber Not Opening His Own Merchandise Store

According to reports Justin Bieber had planned on opening his own merchandise store at The Grove in Los Angeles, California. Justin had even spoken with the same company that helped the Kardashian’s create their popular store DASH. However, according to a rep for Justin, the store never got past the planning stage! The store would have sold everything to do with Justin – from clothes and shoes to candy. We think in the future Justin will have a very successful store – especially if he sells his products mixed with merchandise from other artists and brands. What do you think?

Dr. Dre’s Detox Not Due April 20, Rep Says

A rep for rapper/producer says viral video isn’t referring to long-awaited album’s release date. By Jayson Rodriguez Dr. Dre Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage After a video went viral of Dr. Dre seemingly announcing an April 20 release date for his long-awaited Detox, a rep for the rapper/producer told MTV News that the clip wasn’t referring to the album’s arrival. So what was the legendary producer referring to in the clip? That remains unclear at press time. Dr. Dre has been at work on his highly anticipated LP for years now, scraping together several versions of the songs at various times; in one case, he gave several beats slated for his project to 50 Cent for the G-Unit superstar’s debut album. In November, Dre’s first single, “Kush,” hit the Web and was soon followed by a potential follow-up, the Eminem-assisted “I Need a Doctor.” A month later, Dre premiered the video for “Kush” featuring Snoop Dogg and Akon. The clip, along with a cover story in the latest issue of hip-hop magazine XXL, seemed to confirm that the rap Chinese Democracy was finally slated for release. The producer’s penchant for perfectionism has long been the reason for the delay of Detox, which will be Dre’s first album since his 2001 LP in 1999. “[I’m] trying to put it out by the end of the fall,” Dre said in an interview this past summer about Detox. “Trying to give everybody what they’ve been waitin’ for and make sure they’re not disappointed; that’s all I’m doing.” What do you think Dre was referring to in the viral video? Justin Bieber’s Magazine Covers Chart His Meteoric Rise

Teen sensation’s Vanity Fair cover follows a spate of increasingly high-profile mag appearances. By Jocelyn Vena Justin Bieber on February cover of Vanity Fair Photo: Art Streiber / Conde Nast Justin Bieber first appeared on teen magazines like J-14 and Tiger Beat alongside fellow idols like the Jonas Brothers, but Bieber quickly established himself as a marquee cover boy. He was soon being profiled by industry publications like Billboard and embraced by mainstream mags like People. Bieber’s first big solo cover was the March 27, 2010, issue of Billboard. On the cover, Bieber sported a cardigan and those signature bangs while holding up a boom box. That appearance was quickly followed by his April 19, 2010, People magazine cover, which came out just weeks after the release of his My World 2.0. Early on, Bieber proved he was comfortable on shoots. “He’s always been a natural in front of the camera,” said Melissa Victor, VP, Media & Artist Relations at Island Def Jam Music Group. “I don’t think that kid can take a bad frame.” By the summer, Bieber was making headlines as teen magazines began proclaiming they had “Bieber Fever.” He covered Seventeen ‘s June/July issue and Teen Vogue ‘s October edition. “He has very strong ideas of how he wants to look,” Victor said of the Island Def Jam artist’s visual evolution. “His mom is already working on a scrapbook of all his covers,” she revealed. “She requests every single cover no matter how big or small; everything from J-14 to People magazine.” In addition to making the covers of some of the entertainment industry’s most popular magazines, the singer also scored some memorable profiles in places like VMAN, Interview and Elle, in which he waded on the beach with Kim Kardashian . With his latest cover for Vanity Fair, Bieber shows he’s growing in terms of his public image, from teen heartthrob to pop superstar — one who can be appreciated by both teens and adults. “Justin loves his core audience but it is important for him to continue to evolve as an artist, and with that evolution we want to insure that more and more people of all ages embrace his music,” she said. “It is great that these magazines have been there to chronicle his journey.” 2011 already looks to be a massive year for Bieber , and Vanity Fair is just the beginning. “He so honored and excited to grace the cover of Vanity Fair . He knows he is in great company, he doesn’t take it for granted at all,” Victor said. “This is has been a great way to kick off the New Year. But this is just the beginning. His fans can rest assured they will continue to get their ‘Bieber Fix.’ ” What do you think of Justin’s Vanity Fair cover? Tell us in the comments! Diddy Looking For Comedies After ‘Get Him To The Greek’

‘I really fell in love with making people laugh,’ he says at Golden Globes. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Diddy Photo: MTV News While his turn as a hilariously foul-mouthed record executive in “Get Him to the Greek” didn’t earn Diddy a Golden Globe nomination, there’s no doubting that the multitalented star delivered one of the year’s most satisfying — and surprising — scene-stealing comedic performances. Who knew the guy was so freaking funny? Well, his co-stars certainly did. “We were saying Diddy’s kind of the McLovin of ‘Get Him to the Greek,’ ” Jonah Hill told MTV News before the film’s release. “You don’t know what he’s going to do. Every time he breathes in the movie, it garners a huge laugh.” Hollywood comedy guru Judd Apatow , who produced the flick, said, “He was riotously funny. As a man with one skill, I was annoyed that he was also funny. You shouldn’t be allowed to be good at so many things.” Hill and Apatow weren’t kidding. And as it turned out, moviegoers weren’t the only ones digging Diddy’s comedic stylings: Diddy himself was a pretty big fan too. That’s why he’ll be looking to find his way into more laughers in the future. “I’ve done a lot of drama mostly my whole career, with Broadway and ‘Monster’s Ball’ and stuff like that — my short little career. But when I did ‘Get Him to the Greek,’ I really fell in love with making people laugh,” he told us on the red carpet at the Golden Globes on Sunday (January 16). “I have a knack for improvisation, and hopefully I’ll be able to make people laugh more.” We’ve got the Golden Globes covered!
