Fabolous Addresses Amber Rose Romance ‘Speculation’

‘I chose to really exist above that noise,’ he tells MTV News of rumors surrounding his ‘You Be Killin’ Em’ video’s leading lady. By Jayson Rodriguez, with reporting by Matt Elias Fabolous Photo: MTV News Can’t a rap star make a quality music video without any commotion? That seems to be Fabolous’ take on his new clip, “You Be Killin’ Em,” which co-stars Kanye West ex Amber Rose. If you follow the gossip fodder, the chatter is that the two are more than friends, a claim Loso denies. “We got a lot of great response and reaction from the ‘You Be Killin’ Em’ video,” he told MTV News. “The little spice of hate and speculation, I chose to really exist above that noise. That stuff, you can’t do nothing about [it], and it’s always gonna be there. I tried to bring a great visual to the video world, not just bring the same scenario.” The Ryan Leslie-produced banger is from Fabolous’ mixtape-turned-official release There Is No Competition 2: The Grieving Music EP. When a preview of the video circulated online featuring a lingerie-clad Rose in some steamy scenes with the Brooklyn rapper (including a few smooches), chatter about a potential new power couple intensified. According to Fab, however, he picked Rose (who’s been featured in other videos, including Ludacris’ “What Them Girls Like”) because the former Ford model symbolized the message in the espionage-themed visual. “She embodied the style and grace of complimenting something when you be killin’ them,” he explained. “I think she did an outstanding job as the lead lady in the video. I did OK as well. I think together we made a good duo.” Did you believe the Fab/Amber gossip? Let us know in the comments! Related Artists Fabolous

Eminem’s Grammy Ad Is About Capturing A ‘Journey’

‘We thought we [could] map these artists’ journeys,’ Recording Academy exec tells MTV News of unveiling series of promotional spots. By Hillary Crosley An image from Eminem’s ad for the 53rd Annual Grammy Awards Photo: NARAS Eminem is looking back on his life in a new commercial presented by the Grammys, and MTV News was the first to premiere the clip , which chronicles the MC’s career, on Wednesday. The ad is part of the Recording Academy’s Music is Life is Music social-networking and promotional campaign leading up to the awards show next month. “The Grammys is about the celebration of music on many levels, so we thought we [could] map these artists’ journeys with all of them culminating on the Grammy stage on February 13,” said Evan Greene, chief marketing officer of the Recording Academy. “But artists aren’t the only ones with journeys: You remember your first concert, your first kiss, you remember all of these moments in your life and it’s tied to music.” Eminem’s piece debuted on all media platforms on Thursday (January 6), and the print portion of the Grammy campaign begins in two weeks. The Midwest rapper earned 10 Grammy nods , including Song and Record of the Year (for “Love the Way You Lie”) and Album of the Year (for Recovery, which is also up for Rap Album of the Year). He also scored noms for Best Rap Solo Performance (for “Not Afraid”), Pop Collaboration With Vocals (for his turn on B.o.B’s “Airplanes, Part II”) and Best Rap Song (for “Lie”). With all of those nominations under his belt, fans are hoping Slim Shady will actually perform one of his chart-topping 2010 hits during the festivities. When asked in a RapFix.MTV.com poll if they’d like to see Eminem take the Grammy stage, 93 percent of our blog readers voted yes. “He should perform ‘Going Through Changes’ with Elton John again. … It’s going to be epic!’ Emperor commented. Unfortunately, those at the Recording Academy aren’t giving any hints. “All of those conversations are going on in real time, and the show is literally being put together as we speak,” Greene told MTV News. “Very few artists have been 100 percent confirmed.” The Grammy Awards air Sunday, February 13 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. Lady Gaga Fans Left Oak Room ‘Starstruck’

‘It’s like seeing Madonna in 1984,’ a fan tells MTV News about singer’s surprise set at New York City spot. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga performs at the Oak Room Photo: Lauren Suss On Wednesday night, Lady Gaga played an intimate mini-set at New York City hotspot the Oak Room. And while she only played two songs, one fan at the Plaza Hotel venue tells MTV News that Gaga left everyone in the room completely “starstruck.” “People were actually very into it; they were very calm and collected and starstruck at the same time,” little monster Ashley Rosner recalled of the show, which she accidentally stumbled into. “It was an excited crowd, but a reserved crowd. They wanted to respect her.” Rosner and her pals walked into the show when they happened to catch a glimpse of Gaga through one of the Oak Room’s windows. The singer, wearing a black S&M-style dress and garters, was seated at a table with her entourage. “We were standing 20 feet away from her,” Rosner said. “I am a huge Lady Gaga fan. It was amazing being there and seeing her up close. It’s like seeing Madonna in 1984.” A rep for the club noted that not only did Gaga sing, but she also hung out with her boyfriend as well. “So every Wednesday at the Oak Room, we have a jazz night with Brian Newman, and Lady Gaga and Brian are old friends. So she came once before to support him and it turned out she’s obsessed with the room and it’s the only place she’ll play impromptu for free,” the rep revealed. “She loves the space and came there in her getup. She came there with her boyfriend, Luc Carl, and when they first got there, Brian was playing Sinatra songs and she was dancing and singing. Everyone was dancing and cheering and hanging out. She said she felt bad for the horses outside because it was cold. She told the owner that she’d be back in the near future.” In addition to singing “Someone to Watch Over Me” and “Orange Colored Sky,” the star also chatted with the audience from onstage. “She has such a cute New York accent,” Rosner said. “She did talk a little bit. She was just having fun with it. You’d think she was getting paid a million dollars for it.” “Everyone was really calm and collected; everyone was really cool. No one was going crazy and screaming,” Rosner’s pal, Lauren Suss, added. “It almost felt like I was just at a jazz bar, not at a Lady Gaga concert. There weren’t a lot of people there; probably under a hundred people. She [joked] that she got a little vodka on someone in the crowd.” After her brief performance, according to Rosner, Gaga “hung for about another 10 to 15 minutes and then she got up to leave. She went out the side door and there was a Rolls-Royce and an SVU waiting for her … I think she got into the Rolls-Royce.” Related Photos Lady Gaga Performs At The Oak Room Related Artists Lady Gaga

Cee Lo ‘Impressed’ With Gwyneth Paltrow’s Vocals on ‘F— You’ Remake

‘She’s got great vocal control and range,’ Cee Lo said of the actress, with whom he recorded a duet version of his hit song on Monday. By Gil Kaufman Cee Lo and Gwyneth Paltrow Photo: Getty Images Cee Lo Green has worked with plenty of professional musicians and he knows a thing or two about recording hit songs. But the Gnarls Barkley frontman and solo star said even he was impressed with the vocal skills he heard on Monday when “Country Strong” actress Gwyneth Paltrow joined him in a New York studio to record a new version of his Grammy-nominated smash, “F— You.” “We already went into the studio together to record a special rendition of ‘Forget You,’ ” he said on Wednesday of the sanitized version of his viral hit. “I started off the new year [in] a very special way and that’s recording with Miss Gwyneth.” The Lady Killer singer had nothing but kind things to say about the budding recording star, describing her as “very pleasant,” “very pretty” and a “consummate professional.” After some small talk to break the ice during their first meeting, Cee Lo said he shared some laughs with Paltrow before they got down to the work at hand. Ever the gentleman, he let the lady go first and, well, she killed it. “In about four takes, impressively, she nailed it,” he said, noting that Paltrow was very familiar with the song thanks to the clean rendition she did of it for “Glee” in November , which he highly praised at the time. With the song’s producers, the Bruno Mars-led Smeezingtons, on hand to handle the remake, Cee Lo said there initially was a concern about the actress being able to sing in the Goodie Mob member’s range. “She got in and she sang the original key the song was recorded in, so there wasn’t much we had to change,” he maintained. The Smeezingtons are working on remixing and remastering the session as we speak. Cee Lo hasn’t heard the final version yet, but he’s hoping to be pleasantly surprised by the finished product. While the track was originally recorded for one voice, he said they were able to turn it into a duet by going “back and forth and [doing] our little Sonny and Cher kind of thing.” Paltrow has reported that she watched hours of performances by her pal Beyonc

Waka Flocka Flame Released From Jail

Atlanta rapper posts bond Wednesday after turning himself in for weapons and drug charges. By Mawuse Ziegbe Waka Flocka Flame (file) Photo: Vallery Jean/ FilmMagic Waka Flocka Flame was released from custody Wednesday (January 5) after turning himself in for an array of weapons and drug charges earlier this week. Deputy Fielder of Georgia’s Henry County Sherriff’s Office confirmed to MTV News that the Atlanta rapper, born Juaquin Malphurs, was at released at 3:33 p.m. after posting $31,950 bond. Waka turned himself in to authorities Monday after his home was raided and his manager-mom Deb Antney and his So Icey mentor Gucci Mane were briefly detained. The “No Hands” rapper was booked on several charges, including possession of marijuana and hydrocodone, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and violation of probation for driving on a suspended license. Antney has told MTV News that despite reports the raid was part of an investigation into a prostitution organization, Waka was not involved in that type of activity. “It had nothing to do with prostitution,” Antney said last month. “The weapons they found were licensed weapons. There was under an ounce of marijuana, but it was nothing but a blunt. The other drugs were medication that was in Waka’s room from when he got hurt,” Antney said, referencing the “O Let’s Do It” spitter’s shooting in January 2010 . Waka has staunchly denied that he’s involved in any illegal activity, maintaining that he has no plans to dip into street dealings now that he’s a hitmaking hip-hop star. “Why would I rap and go try to street gang bang? That’s hustling backwards,” he insisted in December. “Why would I wanna rap all around the world and then go hit the streets and gang bang? I’m a rapper, I’m not a [gang-banger]. How can you gang bang and be a rapper? I don’t understand that. I would love to find out where their information is coming from. I can’t wait.” Related Videos Exclusive: Waka Flocka Flame Details Shooting Related Artists Waka Flocka Flame

Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray Hid Evidence, Guard Testifies

Testimony has Conrad Murray removing IV stand and two bags of medication. By Gil Kaufman, with additional reporting by Kara Warner Alberto Alvarez, Michael Jackson’s bodyguard, leaves court after testifying at the preliminary hearing for Dr. Conrad Murray on January 5 Photo: Toby Canham/Getty Images The second day of testimony in the preliminary hearing of Michael Jackson’s doctor, Conrad Murray , featured damning testimony from one of the late King of Pop’s bodyguards about Murray’s actions in the critical minutes after the singer was found unresponsive. After a former Jackson staffer testified Tuesday that Murray appeared to not know how to perform CPR properly , security guard Alberto Alvarez said on Wednesday (January 5) that the cardiologist frantically grabbed medical evidence from the star’s bedroom before instructing Alvarez to call 911. The Los Angeles Times reported that Alvarez said he was the first person to walk into Jackson’s bedroom after Murray realized his patient was not breathing, where he found the cardiologist administering chest compressions with one hand while Jackson lay on his bed, which goes against the recommended procedure for the life-saving method. “I said, ‘Dr. Murray, what happened?’ ” Alvarez told the court. ” ‘He had a bad reaction, he had a bad reaction,’ that’s all he said.” Alvarez choked up as he described how Jackson’s daughter, Paris, followed him into the room and screamed when she saw her father sprawled out and unresponsive on the bed. He said Murray then instructed him to get the children out of the room, noticing as he left that Jackson’s penis was out of his underwear and that medical tubing was attached to it. When Deputy District Attorney David Walgren asked Alvarez if he knew what a condom catheter was, the security guard said he did not. Alvarez said he then witnessed Murray grabbing a handful of medicine bottles and instructing the security guard to put them in a bag. He told the court that he held open the bag as the doctor dropped the bottles of medicine inside and then put it in a brown canvas bag on the floor, per Murray’s instructions. Murray also allegedly told Alvarez to grab one of the two bags hanging on an IV stand next to Jackson’s bed and put it in another bag. Alvarez said he noticed a “milk-like substance” in the bottom of the IV bag. The Los Angeles County Coroner’s office determined that Jackson died of an acute intoxication of propofol, a powerful surgical anesthetic sometimes referred to as “milk of amnesia” thanks to its milky white appearance. Only after the medical materials had been put away did Murray tell Alvarez to call 911. “After you had collected the bottles per Dr. Murray’s instructions, and after you had collected the bags per Dr. Murray’s instructions, did Dr. Murray instruct you to call 911?” Walgren asked. “Yes, sir,” Alvarez responded. TMZ reported that during cross-examination, defense attorney Ed Chernoff got Alvarez to admit that he never told police about Murray ordering him to remove the bottles and Alvarez later admitted that he may try to sell his story. Later in the day, EMT Richard Senniff testified that he arrived at the Jackson home, just four minutes after the 911 call was placed. According to TMZ, Senniff said that, based on the condition of Jackson’s body, it appeared that Murray waited at least 20 minutes to call 911. Senniff also stated that when he asked Murray what meds Jackson had been administered, he only listed lorazepam (Ativan). Jackson cook Kai Chase also testified, revealing the food she prepared for Jackson prior to his death (seared ahi tuna and salad, white bean Tuscan soup) and that she knew something was wrong when Murray came downstairs in a panic and summoned Jackson’s son, Prince. The preliminary hearing is aimed at determining whether there is enough evidence to try Murray on a felony count of involuntary manslaughter in the June 2009 death of the King of Pop. It is expected to last two to three weeks. Related Artists Michael Jackson

Taylor Swift’s Dating History: From Joe Jonas To Jake Gyllenhaal

We look back at the pop star’s boyfriends, some of them more famous than others. By Jocelyn Vena Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift in New York City last November Photo: INF Long before her famous boyfriends, Taylor Swift wrote a song about a guy named Drew and found mainstream success with her ballad “Teardrops on My Guitar.” Now when Swift writes a tune, while she may not confirm who she’s singing about, her muses are a lot more high-profile. And with the news of her breakup with Jake Gyllenhaal , fans will be waiting to hear what she’ll sing about the Hollywood hunk in the future. Here’s a look back at Swift’s dating history. (Check out photos of Taylor Swift and her past loves.) Just as she was emerging on the pop scene, rumors began to surface the that blond chanteuse and Joe Jonas were an item. In the summer of 2008, the pair were spotted hanging out, and she danced around the issue when speaking to MTV News about the rumors. “For me, in dealing with things that people write, I try not to let it affect my life,” she said. “He’s an amazing guy, and anyone would be lucky to be dating him.” Months later, the pair broke up over the phone when Jonas allegedly left Swift for his “Lovebug” video co-star Camilla Belle. Swift wrote a song about it. “And I addressed it, and, you know, that’s a chapter in my life that’s closed now,” she said of the song, “Forever & Always.” Swift kept busy after her split from Jonas, but in late 2009, her “You Belong With Me” co-star Lucas Till admitted that the two had a bit of a fling. “We just really both liked each other,” he said. “[But] most relationships work out ’cause you get along and then you don’t, and then you make up and it’s passionate. And with us I really just liked her as a friend. That’s the only reason that didn’t work out.” By the time news came out that Swift had dated Till, she was already dating her “Valentine’s Day” co-star Taylor Lautner . They met in the summer of 2009 and while they never publicly addressed the relationship, they were spotted hanging out together until their breakup in December 2009. In October 2010, Swift admitted she’d always have a crush on him, saying, “Taylor Lautner. It’s always going to be Taylor.” In 2010, Swift had been rumored to be dating John Mayer, about whom she allegedly wrote her song “Dear John,” “Glee” star Cory Monteith, and even her “Mine” co-star Toby Hemingway, never owning up to any of the rumors. “I write in great detail about my personal life,” she explained of addressing rumors. “But I don’t talk about it.” But her brief romance with Jake Gyllenhaal in the fall of 2010 caused the most headlines. They reportedly began dating in October, and although they never spoke about one another publicly, they were photographed holding hands and being generally adorable until it was learned this week that the couple had split. Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray Didn’t Seem To Know CPR, Bodyguard Testifies

Jackson’s two oldest children were in bedroom witnessing drama, bodyguard Faheem Muhammed said. By Gil Kaufman Conrad Murray (file) Photo: AFP/ Getty Images One of the most shocking revelations to emerge from the first day of testimony in the pretrial hearing of former Michael Jackson doctor Conrad Murray is that as the pop icon lay dying in his rented Los Angeles mansion, cardiologist Murray asked in a panic, “Does anyone know CPR?” According to CNN , that’s what bodyguard Faheem Muhammed said on the stand. Tuesday was the first day of testimony in hearings aimed at determining whether there is enough evidence to try Murray on a felony count of involuntary manslaughter in the June 2009 death of the King of Pop. The hearing is slated to last around two weeks and feature 20 to 30 witnesses, most of whom will be medical professionals. But it was the shocking testimony of Muhammed on Tuesday that grabbed headlines. He said that he and fellow guard Alberto Alvarez walked in on a scene in which Murray was crouched next to the motionless body of Jackson and it appeared that the heart surgeon did not know how to give CPR. As they waited for paramedics to arrive, Muhammed said Murray stood next to Jackson’s bed and asked in a panicked voice if anyone else in the room knew how to administer the life-saving technique. “I looked at Alberto because we knew Dr. Murray was a heart surgeon, so we were shocked,” Muhammed said. When defense attorney Ed Chernoff asked whether Murray was asking for help because he was exhausted after staying up all night administering sleep aids to the chronically insomniac Jackson, Muhammed replied, “The way that he asked it is as if he didn’t know CPR.” He also said that he never witnessed Murray performing CPR on Jackson before paramedics arrived and that the singer’s two oldest children, Prince Michael and Paris, were in their father’s bedroom as the drama was unfolding. Among the Jackson family members in court on Tuesday to watch the proceedings were family matriarch Katherine, sister LaToya and brothers Randy and Jackie. Prosecutor David Walgren referred to Murray’s use of “ineffectual” CPR, which included using one hand while Jackson was on a soft bed, which is counter to recommended techniques. Walgren also told the judge in the case that medical experts would testify that Murray took “a number of actions” that “showed an extreme deviation from the standard of care,” after being hired to serve as Jackson’s personal physician in the lead-up to a series of comeback shows in England. The prosecutor also claimed that Murray waited at least 21 minutes to call an ambulance after he found Jackson unresponsive. “By all accounts, Michael Jackson was dead in the bedroom at 100 North Carolwood prior to the paramedics’ arrival,” Walgren said. The Los Angeles County coroner later determined that the singer died of “acute propofol intoxication,” saying the overdose of the surgical anesthetic and the combined effects of other sedatives caused his death. Chernoff has said that Murray administered propofol and other sedatives to Jackson in the hours before the pop star’s death, but not in quantities that “should have” caused his death. CNN reported that Murray’s defense team hinted that it would argue that Jackson was facing intense pressure over his upcoming 50-date This Is It comeback series of shows at London’s O2 Arena and that led to his demands for treatment to help his chronic insomnia. Also testifying on Tuesday was the director of the shows, Kenny Ortega, who described Jackson as “involved, active, participating” at his final rehearsal, which ended 12 hours before his death. That was very different from the out-of-it singer who could barely make it through rehearsals on June 19, six nights before his death. At a meeting called after Ortega sent Jackson home that night for some rest, the director described a scene in which Murray scolded him for cutting the rehearsal short. “Dr. Murray told me that this was not my responsibility, and he asked me not to act like a doctor or psychologist,” Ortega said. Murray has pleaded not guilty in the case, and according to a recent report, Walgren believes that the doctor’s lawyers may claim that Jackson self-administered the final, fatal dose of propofol and essentially killed himself after waking up in a panic from a fitful night of sleep. Testimony in the case will continue on Wednesday (January 5). Related Photos Michael Jackson: A Life In Photos Related Artists Michael Jackson
