Slaughterhouse Prep ‘Real Sexy’ Video With Cee Lo Green

‘My Life’ video is only for the ‘most wildest and most vividest of imaginations,’ Joe Budden tells MTV News. By Rob Markman, with reporting by James Lacsina Joe Budden on the set of Slaugherhouse’s video for “My Life” Photo: MTV News Why shouldn’t Slaughterhouse enjoy all of their recent success? For years, Royce da 5’9″, Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz and Crooked I have been putting in some serious work in hip-hop’s underground, not always receiving their just due. Now that they are a premiere act on Eminem’s Shady Records, rap’s most lyrical bunch will take time reflect on the ups and downs with Cee Lo Green in their video for “My Life.” “It’s just more of a rags-to-riches type of story that chronicles struggle, hardship, all of the hurdles that we’ve all jumped and some of the things that all of us have extreme gratitude for, if you listen to the lyrics of the songs,” an expertly groomed Joe Budden told MTV News of the video’s concept on Wednesday while shooting in L.A. On the energetic second single from the group’s upcoming Welcome to: Our House LP, the lyricists ponder their current wins in the face of all their previous losses. Cee Lo belts out a familiar hook over a Streetrunner and Sarom-produced track which lifts Italian band Corona’s 1993 dance hit “The Rhythm of the Night.” Though the newly released track has yet to make a dent in any of the Billboard song charts, it has all the makings of a hit record and has the potential to become a radio mainstay for the summer. It may be hard to picture the B-roll, with all of its green screen, but for the Syndrome-directed video for “My Life,” the planned visual effects will be key in telling the quartet’s story. “Unless you have the most wildest and most vividest of imaginations you probably won’t be able to get it, but he’s doin’ a lot of editing in post, he’s doin’ a lot of camera tricks,” Budden said of Syndrome’s aim. “He’s gonna make it all come together, he’s gonna make it all real sexy and we’re excited to work with him.” What do you think of Slaughterhouse and Cee Lo’s new single “My Life”? Howard Stern Calls Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez ‘Dummies’

Britney will be ‘train wreck’ on ‘X Factor,’ new ‘America’s Got Talent’ judge adds at press conference. By James Montgomery Howard Stern Photo: MTV News Howard Stern held court at New York’s Friars Club on Thursday in a long-running press conference to promote his upcoming stint as a judge on “America’s Got Talent.” And in keeping with the spirit of the legendary roasts that take place at the venue, he didn’t shy away from taking some shots at his singing-competition contemporaries. Stern was asked by a reporter whether he would have signed up for the “Talent” gig if it meant serving on a panel with “American Idol” judge Jennifer Lopez and newly-announced “X Factor” judge Britney Spears — as opposed to the “Talent” tandem of Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne — and, well, let’s just say he answered rather directly. “No, I would not [have], because I think we have the best judging panel out there, out of all these shows. I think that the judges all offer constructive, precise criticism, and I really like it,” Stern said. “To sit there with J.Lo and Britney Spears and try to prop those two up, I’d be like a ventriloquist with two dummies; I’m not going to sit there and do that.” Stern didn’t stop there, either. When he was asked for his thoughts on “The X Factor” ‘s reported $15 million deal with Spears , the shock jock joked that he was in favor of it … for slightly dubious reasons, of course. “I think it’s a wonderful decision; Britney still thinks the world is flat. We’re going to tune in to see if she can sort of function through the thing. As far as any real criticism, I think [“X Factor” judges] Simon [Cowell] and L.A. Reid will be doing that,” he said. “I think Britney’s going to stand there and eat a lollipop and wear a sexy outfit; I don’t anticipate great opinions from her. I think she’s going to sit there like J.Lo. ‘Oh, you’re wonderful, you’re terrific. You think I could get a perfume endorsement out of this? You think I can perform on the show?’ I think that’s what it’s about, but I think it will be interesting. … I’ll tune in to see what kind of train wreck she is, absolutely.” Related Artists Jennifer Lopez Britney Spears

Whitney Houston’s Family To Star On Reality Show

‘The Houston Family Chronicles,’ which will feature Bobbi Kristina Brown and Cissy Houston, premieres on Lifetime later this year. By John Mitchell Whitney Houston and her daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown Photo: Steve Granitz/ WireImage A new reality series featuring the family of late pop superstar Whitney Houston will premiere on Lifetime later this year, the network announced in a statement Friday (May 11). Titled “The Houston Family Chronicles,” the show will feature Houston’s daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, and mother Cissy Houston, though the focus will be on “The Bodyguard” superstar’s brother Gary Houston and sister-in-law and manager Pat Houston, as well as their daughter, Rayah. Houston’s cousin Dionne Warwick and Bobbie Kristina’s godmother, gospel legend CeCe Winans, will also appear in the series. According to Lifetime, the reality show will focus on Pat and Gary “as they take on their greatest challenge, supporting and guiding Bobbi Kristina as she faces the world alone, without the one person she relied on the most, her mother.” Whitney Houston died on February 11 of this year at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The L.A. County coroner ruled that accidental drowning was the official cause of Houston’s death, adding that cocaine use and heart disease were contributing factors. The report indicated traces of cocaine were found in Houston’s system at the time of death along with Xanax, Flexeril, marijuana and Benadryl, though officials said these substances played no role in her untimely passing. “The tragic loss of Whitney Houston left a void in the hearts of people all over the world, but certainly none more so than her beloved family,” Rob Sharenow, executive vice president of programming at Lifetime Networks, said in a statement. “In this series, the multi-generations of the Houston family will bravely reveal their lives as they bond together to heal, love, and grow.” Lifetime has ordered 10 hour-long episodes of “The Houston Family Chronicles” and will premiere the show at a yet-undetermined time later this year. According to Pat Houston, the show had been in the works well before Whitney’s death. “I have been working with Simmons-Shelley [production company] over the past few years developing a project suitable for myself and our family,” Pat Houston said. “The unexpected passing of Whitney certainly affects the direction of the show. However, it is my hope that others will be enlightened as they watch our family heal and move forward.” Will you watch “The Houston Family Chronicles”? Let us know in the comments below. Tyga’s ‘Leaving Stuff Behind’ On ‘I’m Gone’ With Big Sean

‘When I made this record, I was just like, ‘Sean would be dope on this,’ ‘ Tyga says of adding Big Sean to the song. By Rob Markman, with reporting by James Lacsina Tyga and Big Sean on the set of their video for “I’m Gone” Photo: MTV News Tyga and Big Sean display quite the chemistry on “I’m Gone,” the new, heartfelt single off of the Cali MC’s sophomore album, Careless World. But the song only tells half the story. This week Tyga premiered the song’s Colin Tilley-directed video as an MTV Jam of the Week. MTV News caught up with the pair back in April when they shot the clip in a Lynwood, California, warehouse. “The video concept is me leaving stuff behind, like my girl, and then driving the car, then nobody driving the car,” Tyga explained. His description may have seemed a bit cryptic then, but now that the visuals have finally dropped, it all makes sense. Opening with a shot of the Young Money rap standout sitting alone on a barstool with his head hung low, it is clear that the bright lights have taken their toll on Tyga’s love life. “Looking around glass, my future is in the past/ I’m rearranging my life, I’m single and now I laugh,” he spits to begin the song. The somber track is quite emotional and wouldn’t seem to call for a guest verse. In fact, Tyga first intended for the single to be a solo affair, but when it was complete, he just heard a spot for his buddy Sean. “When I made this record, I was just like, ‘Sean would be dope on this,’ ” the tatted-up rapper said. “The record was already done — that’s why Big Sean is at the end of it. We made the beat longer because I was just like, ‘Let’s just add him to it.’ ” Sean, who closes the track out with reflective lyrics of his own, jumped on the song without hesitation. “I had already liked it off the rip, I liked the sample, I liked the vibe of it,” he told us. “He sent me the song and it was perfect. I remember I had just got done with my show in Houston. I knocked it out right after.” In fact, Sean’s voice was still hoarse from the performance he delivered just hours before, but it all worked out in the end. “My voice was half gone — I don’t know if people could tell, but my voice was damn near gone when I recorded it,” he revealed. “I just came up with the whole thing on the spot.” What do you think of Tyga’s “I’m Gone” video? Lil Boosie Found Not Guilty In Murder Trial

Baton Rouge rapper dodges a life sentence in 2009 murder case. By Nadeska Alexis Lil Boosie Photo: Asylum After a week of testimony and deliberation in a murder trial stemming from a 2009 case, jurors in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, found rapper Lil Boosie (born Torrence Hatch) not guilty of a first-degree murder charge on Friday (May 11). The rapper was facing life in prison if convicted. Boosie is currently serving an eight-year sentence for non-related drug charges, but WBRZ reported that the 29-year-old was able to beat seemingly insurmountable odds in a murder trial in which he was accused of ordering primary witness Michael “Marlo Mike” Louding to murder Terry Boyd. The 35-year-old was shot to death in his home in Baton Rouge in October 2009. On the third day of testimony in the Boosie trial , 19-year-old Louding took the stand and backtracked on his previous confession of being hired to kill Boyd. He claimed instead that he had never confessed to law enforcement about the murder, adding that he was with Hatch and getaway driver Adrienne Pitman at the rapper’s house on the night of the shooting. The prosecution came under fire for using Boosie’s violent lyrics to incriminate him in the case, even pointing to Louding’s tattoo of an AK-47, with the script “Yo Boosie Who’s Next?” as proof that the two had conspired. Meanwhile, the defense aimed to paint a picture of Boosie as an artist who let too many strangers into his inner circle without knowing their true intentions. On Wednesday morning, an IT specialist took the stand to testify about the contents of the Baton Rouge rapper’s computer . The expert pinpointed a photo of a tattoo parlor, which was related to the investigation, but no details were given on how his testimony might have affected the case. Throughout the trial, several officers were questioned, including one who revealed that Boosie was not considered a suspect until his name was brought up during Louding’s confession. While prosecutors argued that Louding’s admissions and cell phone records were proof that he committed the crime, Boosie’s defense attorneys countered that the confession was a lie, prompted by hours of interrogation. Travis Porter Feel The Pressure Of Releasing Debut Album

‘I think it’s good just to get the first debut album out the way and you can progress to your next album,” Quez tells ‘RapFix Live.’ By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway Photo: Natasha Chandel/ MTV News Travis Porter has a busy summer ahead of them. With their debut album, From Day 1, set to drop on May 29, the Atlanta trio are also hitting the road on tour and getting ready to release a new film. Quez, Strap and Ali first started to make noise in 2008, and after waiting four years to drop their first LP, the group is pretty anxious to put their plans in motion. “I think it’s good just to get the first debut album out the way and you can progress to your next album,” Quez said when the group appeared on “RapFix Live” on Wednesday. “It’s a nervous feelin’,” Ali said of the days leading up to their release. One of the pressures of releasing a major-label album is having to meet certain sales figures, particularly during the first week of an album’s release. “It’s a lot of pressure working on your first album, leading up to the release,” Strap said. “But we had so much fun putting the work into this album, being so creative, I feel like we won’t have nothin’ to worry about.” All things considered, though, the group is just thrilled to be able to see their hard work begin to pay off in a major way. After the album drops, they’ll hit the road on the No Sleep Till Atlanta Tour — a nod to their admiration for the Beastie Boys , who in 1986 released the classic track “No Sleep Till Brooklyn.” Travis Porter is also looking to release an unnamed film on June 29. The movie finds Travis Porter on the road living the rapper life. That is until they run into a bit of trouble. “The bus breaks down in some crazy town called Red Rock. And it’s run by these drug lords and they try to kill us off before we get out of their town because they think we gonna tell what’s goin on in the town,” Ali explained of the story’s plot. “So we gotta fight our way out of the town.” Are you planning to buy Travis Porter’s debut, From Day 1 ? Drake Drops ‘Monster Verse’ On DJ Drama’s ‘We In This Bitch 1.5’

Drama wanted to recruit someone who was ‘keeping hip-hop culture moving forward’ for the remix to his hit single. By Nadeska Alexis, with reporting by Sway Calloway Future, Ludacris, DJ Drama and T.I. on the set of “We in This Bitch” music video Photo: MTV News DJ Drama recruited Atlanta’s finest for his single “We In This Bitch,” even gathering Young Jeezy, T.I., Ludacris and Future for the song’s video , which premiered earlier this week, but Drama still found one more way to guarantee the track’s sticking power. On Friday (May 11) he released the remixed version, “We in This Bitch 1.5” featuring Drake. During Meek Mill’s 25th birthday celebration in Philadelphia on Sunday, MTV News caught up with Drama, who teased the remix, and gave a few details on how the collaboration came about. “When you have a record, being a DJ we always like to do creative things, so I got a version 1.5, which is DJ Drama featuring Drake and Future,” he told Sway Calloway, going on to explain why he thought the YMCMB rapper was the best fit to remake the single. “When you have a record like that and [you want] to add onto it, there’s not a lot of things you could do,” he said. “[Drake] came with a monster verse, [and he’s] another young, fresh talent, somebody out here that I look at the same way I look at Meek, who’s really keeping hip-hop culture moving forward, so I felt it was only best.” Topping the original track was definitely no easy feat. Drama explained that he was very conscious of gathering Atlanta’s legends and one promising newcomer for the original. “It’s the first time that Tip, Jeezy and Luda have all been on one record together,” he said. “Plus, having Future on there, who’s got the streets on fire — 2 Chainz and Future are really holding the A down and really are a new generation. Of course, we all know Tip has been here for a long time doing his thing, and even the significance of what Jeezy, T.I. and Luda mean to the city and to my career, it’s a special moment for them, it’s a special record.” “We In This Bitch 1.5” finds Future on the first track with Drake since the YMCMB rapper appeared on Future’s hit single “Tony Montana.” There was some brief friction between the two, when Future took a jab at Drake for skipping out on filming the video with him. William Balfour Guilty In Jennifer Hudson Family Murder Case

Oscar winner was on hand when the jury read verdict convicting Balfour on all counts on Friday afternoon. By Gil Kaufman William Balfour Photo: Cook County Sheriff’s Department/ WireImage After two-and-a-half days of deliberation, the jury in the murder trial of William Balfour returned a guilty verdict on all counts on Friday afternoon (May 11). Balfour was on trial for the murders of Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson ‘s mother, brother and nephew. The jury returned guilty verdicts on three counts of murder, as well as one count each of home invasion, residential burglary, possession of a stolen vehicle, and aggravated kidnapping. Because Illinois no longer has a death penalty, Balfour will spend the rest of his life in jail without the possibility of parole. According to the Chicago Tribune, an hour before reading the verdict, the jury sent a note to Judge Charles Burns informing him that they were split, but still working to reach a verdict. Around the same time, Burns received another note asking for all of the evidence about the cell-phone tower coverage in the area of the murder. The judge sent back a transcript of the testimony of FBI Special Agent Nikki Skovran, who performed a forensic analysis on Balfour’s cell phone on the day of the murders that placed him near the Hudson home around the time the victims were killed. Earlier, the jury of six men and six women had requested copies of two videos in evidence: one from an area high school that showed the time Balfour’s car was parked on the street and another of the police interrogation of Balfour, in which he claimed he left it there around 8:30 a.m. on the morning of the murders. During the trial, prosecutors had argued that the time stamp on the school surveillance video provided proof that Balfour, 31, was lying about his whereabouts that morning. Balfour is alleged to have shown up at the Hudson home on the morning of the killings appearing agitated, saying he’d been up all night drinking. He spotted balloons that Julia received from a new boyfriend for the holiday Sweetest Day, got angry and punched the balloons, according to police. When Julia left the house to go to work, Balfour remained behind outside. The jury began their deliberation on Wednesday night and had been sequestered at a hotel for two nights. As the verdict was read, Hudson, huddled close with her fianc

Foo Fighters’ ‘Million-Dollar Demos’ Leak

A pair of songs from band’s contentious One by One sessions make the rounds. By James Montgomery Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Nate Mendel Photo: Peter Wafzig/ Getty Images In the nearly two-decade career of the , there was no period quite as contentious as the sessions that (eventually) led to their 2002 album One by One. Weary from a two-year world tour, and being pulled apart by various intra-band dramas (including drummer Taylor Hawkins’ drug overdose ), the Foos were on the brink of calling it quits, and attempts to record the album certainly didn’t help matters any. The bandmembers were unhappy with songs recorded at Grohl’s Virginia studio and Conway Studios in Los Angeles, battling each other and their desires to call it a day, and they scrapped the songs before taking a break (Hawkins would subsequently refer to the scrapped tunes as the “million-dollar demos” ). Eventually, recharged by a performance at Coachella, they decided to try to make the album again, and though they’d eventually finish One by One, the Foos rarely play songs from the record live, and Grohl has said that it’s his least favorite album. So, at the very least, One by One remains the most, uh, curious entry in the Foo’s back catalog. Now, fans — and, we suppose, rock historians — are getting a deeper look (and listen) into its making, as a pair of the so-called “million-dollar demos” have leaked. The two tracks — “Have It All” and “Come Back” — were recorded during the initial One by One sessions and were apparently in the minority of songs the band actually liked : Both ended up making the final version of the album, albeit in very different forms. The demo of “Have It All” is (understandably) less polished than the One by One version, and while it’s certainly looser, it does features the same fleet-fingered fretwork. The main difference between the two is the lengthy instrumental outro the band tacks on to the demo. The early version of “Come Back” is much shorter than the album version, lacking most of the additional instrumentation (and slow-burning build) that fans heard on One by One. Instead, it’s a high-energy workout of interlocking riffs, stop-start drumming and Grohl’s gnarled vocals. And though the Foos may not have fond memories of One by One, the album did feature one of their biggest hits (“All My Life”) and win them a pair of Grammys — Best Hard Rock Performance and Best Rock Album. They’d return three years later with the double-disc effort In Your Honor. Related Artists Foo Fighters

Selena Gomez’s Perfume Is A Product Of Her Fans

‘They’re the people that are going to wear it,’ she tells MTV News of why she enlisted fans to help create her first-ever fragrance. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Kara Warner Selena Gomez Photo: MTV News For her first-ever fragrance, singer/actress Selena Gomez enlisted her fans to help her nail down the kind scent they wanted to spritz on themselves. It was this process that was the highlight of launching the self-titled perfume . “The best part was the fan interaction,” she told MTV News. “I was kind of nervous when the reaction of it would be because no one’s ever done that, to where people could go online and help create the fragrance. But I figure they’re the people that are going to wear it, so I want to see what’s kind of in, I guess, now. So that was the fun part.” Their feedback mostly focused on how they wanted to use the perfume practically in their everyday lives. “They just had really good points of like, ‘I can wear this to school’ and then another person’s like, ‘Actually, after the gym, going to like a date [or] something,'” she said of their suggestions. “They came up with the weirdest tactics that made sense and I was like, ‘Oh, I didn’t even think of it.’ They caught a lot of things. It was nice.” After some initial work on her own, Gomez took it to her fans to help her nail down the scent that’s now being sold in Macy’s department stores. “Well, I created the top five of them and then they helped pick out the bottom three,” she said. “It’s still very much me. I think it represents what I like. It’s refreshing and young, but it’s kind of older as well.” While the bottle is very feminine (a long, lavender-colored body with lips as a top), she added that the look is also practical. “I wanted the bottle to be tall ’cause I have a lot of fragrances and I always go to the ones that are the tallest and noticeable and pretty and delicate,” she explained. Gomez is the latest in a long list of celebrity perfume designers, joining the ranks of fellow singers like pal Taylor Swift (with Wonderstruck ) and boyfriend Justin Bieber (with Someday ).
