‘Me and you got a lot of things we got to talk about face-to-face,’ 2 Chainz tells MTV News’ Sway Calloway. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway 2 Chainz Photo: MTV News 2 Chainz is riding around and getting it and soon he will have even more money to spend. Word is that the Atlanta rap standout is close to signing a new record contract, and on Wednesday he will stop by “RapFix Live” to announce his new deal. “I think I’m gonna come sit on the sofa Wednesday. Me and you got a lot of things we got to talk about face-to-face,” 2 Chainz told Sway when he Skyped into last week’s episode of “RapFix Live.” “It should be a good day Wednesday. I’m coming up to New York and have a few finalized meetings also,” he added. On Monday (January 30), Chainz, who got his start as Tity Boi in the rap duo Playaz Circle, will be performing his first major New York concert at SOB’s. Over the past year, 2 Chainz has reinvented himself as a solo artist and taken a hold on rap’s underground thanks to catchy anthems like his latest single “Spend It.” After his NYC concert, the “Duffle Bag Boy” rapper will be running around the city tying up loose ends before he sits with Sway on Wednesday. By that time he will be ready to announce his new recording home exclusively on “RapFix Live.” “Might as well let the cat out the bag,” he said. Mac Miller is another of rap’s most exciting newcomers, and MTV News recently went back to the ‘Burgh with the “Donald Trump” rapper when he performed a pair of homecoming shows in December. All week long, MTV News will be spotlighting Pittsburgh’s growing hip-hop scene with exclusive interviews and video content. On Wednesday, fans can tune in to watch backstage and concert footage from Mac’s Pittsburgh show. You don’t want to miss it! Guns N’ Roses Announce Six U.S. Tour Dates

Axl Rose and company to revisit NYC venue where they performed their ‘Live at the Ritz’ concerts 24 years ago. By Andrea Duncan-Mao Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose Photo: Evan Agostini/Getty Images All that’s old is new again. Axl Rose and his revamped Guns N’ Roses will revisit their beloved New York when they launch their Northeast tour in February. In 2011, the band completed a sold-out international tour and will kick off 2012 with a series of intimate shows in the States, starting with New York. Beginning February 10, they will perform a three-show series in the city, the cornerstone of which will be at the club Webster Hall, which was originally called the Ritz. This is where GN’R played one of their most famous concerts, “Live at the Ritz,” in 1998. For their return, the venue will revert to its original name, complete with new signage and marquee, and fans can wax nostalgic about the days when Guns were the biggest band on the planet. Additional cities include Chicago; Silver Spring, Maryland; and Atlantic City, New Jersey. No word yet if more dates will be announced. The stark difference this time around is that the original members of the group — namely Duff McKagan, Slash and Izzy Stradlin — will not be there. Axl remains the only original member in this latest incarnation of GN’R, and the latest crew has yet to release a new album. The last Guns N’ Roses release was back in 2008 with Chinese Democracy. McKagan currently lives in Seattle and has had success with his bands Velvet Revolver and Loaded, while the top-hat-wearing Slash, who was also in Velvet Revolver, has guested on tracks from Michael Jackson and Rihanna and is a major figure in the “Guitar Hero” video games. Paula Abdul Exits ‘X Factor’

Fellow mentor Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones are also out; a source tells Deadline ‘none of the three left on their own accord.’ By Kara Warner Paula Abdul Photo: Mark Davis/ Gety Images For any “X Factor” fans who are thinking season two of the Simon Cowell-created singing competition will be business as usual, think again, because Monday (January 30) marked a veritable bloodletting of the show’s key talent and judging panel. In addition to the losses of mentor Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones , original “American Idol” diva and delightfully unpredictable judge Paula Abdul will also not be returning to the program. A source close to Cowell told Deadline.com that all three personalities were asked to leave the show. “None of the three left on their own accord,” Deadline editor Nikki Finke wrote of what her insider source told her of the mass exodus. “It was cleaning house day at the so-so rated show.” Despite their frequent onscreen bickering and banter, Cowell spoke highly of Abdul when it was announced that she would be joining him on “X Factor.” “I missed her the second she left [‘Idol’],” Cowell told Deadline last year. “Always loved working with her even though she can be a pain. I don’t know what it is about her, but I’ve always clicked with her. You just have to get that chemistry, and she’s right. I’ve never found anyone better than her.” Former Pussycat Doll and “Dancing With the Stars” champ Scherzinger was also sent packing, although a source close to Scherzinger told E! News that she left the show to focus on her music career. “She’s spoken to Simon [Cowell], and he’s given her his blessing,” the insider told E! Scherzinger often became emotional during elimination episodes, shedding tears and expressing sympathy for ousted contestants. As for inaugural “X Factor” host Jones, the cheeky Welshman broke the news himself via Twitter on Monday. “I won’t be hosting next seasons X Factor which is a shame but I cant complain as I’ve had a great time,” Jones tweeted to his more than 94,000 followers. “Good luck to everyone on the show.” Jones had decidedly big shoes to fill stepping into the gig, with comparisons instantly made to “American Idol” host/ media mogul Ryan Seacrest. Throughout the season, the reviews of Jones’ hosting skills were decidedly mixed. As far as we know, L.A. Reid will continue to work alongside Cowell on the judging panel. There has been no word yet from Fox on who might replace Abdul, Scherzinger and Jones, or when season two will premiere. Who do you think should join “X Factor”? Share your ideas in the comments! Mitt Romney’s Flight Across Florida: Cake On A Plane

Andrew Jenks eats birthday cake with the Republican presidential nominee on the eve of the primary election. By Andrew Jenks, with additional reporting by Gil Kaufman Mitt Romney celebrates Los Angeles Times journalist Mave Reston’s Birthday on Monday Photo: Emmanuel Dunand/ AFP/ Getty Images TAMPA, Florida — I got the chance to ride the Mitt Romney plane today as he travels across Florida to give his closing arguments for why he should be the Republican presidential nominee. If the former Massachusetts governor pulls off a decisive victory in Florida, it could provide the sense of momentum that he has been lacking so far. After (sort of) winning Iowa and decisively taking New Hampshire, a solid win here might signal that the GOP’s traditional base is coalescing around Romney. However, if former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich can pull off a win, the race could turn into a two-man duel that lasts well past the next Tuesday’s contest. Despite all that pressure, on the day before the huge swing-state election, he seemed relaxed. Very relaxed. In fact, he even decided to celebrate a reporter’s birthday before we took off. Romney himself brought back cake while singing “Happy Birthday” and threw bags of chips around to all of us. (I missed my shot.) What’s interesting is the way in which Romney interacts with the press — the group of 25 or so reporters and photographers who follow him everywhere he goes. And it’s essential for the governor and his staffers to stay on their good side. On this quick jet across the state, I was offered chocolate chip cookies, cherries, cheeses and roast beef sandwiches. It was a tasty slice of life in the world of how politicians interact with campaign reporters. MTV is on the scene in Florida! Pussycat Dolls’ New Lineup To Debut In Super Bowl Ad

Go Daddy commercial will feature Lauren Bennett and Chrystina Sayers as ‘angels in heaven,’ PCD founder Robin Antin tells MTV News. By Jocelyn Vena Robin Antin Photo: MTV News The Pussycat Dolls have remained pretty much under the radar since some well-publicized lineup shifts back in 2009. With a new group of ladies all ready for their chance to shake it as a PCD, they are set to make their world debut Sunday during one of the biggest shows of the year: the Super Bowl. Recently, PCD creator Robin Antin and a newly instated Doll, Lauren Bennett, stopped by the MTV Newsroom to chat about the Go Daddy commercial that will launch the latest phase of all things PCD. So, what should fans expect? In the spot, Antin said, “The girls are on the Go Daddy cloud. They’re angels in heaven, and they’re very angelic.” The look of the commercial is not necessarily the new look of the group this time around, she said, adding, “It’s breathtakingly beautiful. It’s a fun, real-campy kind of sexy. It’s all of that, but again, what we’re doing for this next life of the Pussycat Dolls, the girls are all young. It’s a fresh, young energy. I want to appeal to our young fans.” Despite a lineup leak in early 2010, the new, official lineup now stands as Bennett (who you might remember from Antin’s other group, Paradiso Girls, as well as the LMFAO track “Party Rock Anthem”) along with Chrystina Sayers from Girlicious. More will be revealed Sunday in the shorter on-air version of the commercial, as well as the extended version that will go online after the spot debuts. “The dancing is spectacular. Everyone is amazing,” Antin said. “It’s the exact right recipe for the new Pussycat Dolls. We just did the Go Daddy commercial, Super Bowl spot — really excited about it. It’s sexy and all that. It’s a quick look for people to see the girls together for the first time.” Are you looking forward to seeing the new Pussycat Dolls? Tell us below! Related Artists Pussycat Dolls

‘Game Of Thrones’ Trailer: Five Key Scenes

From the Lord of the Light to the Drowned God and beyond, here are five key scenes from the HBO series’ new sneak peek. By Josh Wigler Alfie Allen as Theon Greyjoy in “Game Of Thrones” Photo: HBO The night is dark and full of terrors in Westeros, the fantasy land at the heart of “Game of Thrones.” But if you thought the HBO fantasy series proved its capacity for brutality and betrayal in season one, just wait: The April-debuting second season — based on George R.R. Martin’s second novel in his “Song of Ice and Fire” odyssey, “A Clash of Kings” — promises more blood and dragons than ever before. A new trailer for “Game of Thrones” season two , which hit HBO last night (January 29) ahead of the network’s premiere of the Dustin Hoffman drama “Luck,” does more than its fair share to remind you that this isn’t your comparatively tame hobbit-filled fantasy story. Keep reading for five key scenes from the latest look at “Thrones.” He Told You Not to Trust Him “Game of Thrones” has largely remained faithful to Martin’s source material, but there have been deviations along the way. Season two looks no different, based on this new trailer that sees grieving widow Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) holding Petyr “Littlefinger” Baelish (Aidan Gillen) at knifepoint. It’s a scene that absolutely does not occur in the books, even if it’s one that would satisfy a lot of fans’ bloodlust toward the loyalty-free Littlefinger. But is it an editing trick or a sizeable new addition? You be the judge! Lord of the Light There are several dangerous new players in the world of Westeros come season two, but perhaps no one worth watching quite as much as Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane) and his accomplice, the red priestess Melisandre (Carice van Houten). As worshippers of R’hllor, the God of Flame and Shadow, both Stannis and Melisandre will force many enemies to meet their fiery ends before season two draws to a close. The blaze of glory is briefly teased in this trailer with a look at one of Melisandre’s many night rituals. The Imp and the Spider The new trailer is bookended by a riddle that spymaster Varys (Conleth Hill) puts forth to Tyrion Lannister ( Golden Globe winner Peter Dinklage ), now acting as King’s Hand on his father Tywin’s behalf. It’s just one of many memorable interactions between the Spider and the Imp, a crucial new dynamic that’s sure to dominate much of season two. And despite his award-winning streak and his pledge that he knows “how the game is played,” don’t put too much stake in Tyrion’s confidence — even the sharpest mind could bend before a king’s cruelty. Speaking of which … Madness Landing Westeros is at war, and every city is a battleground. The historic King’s Landing is no exception, as the cruel reign of King Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson) has turned commoner against royalty. It’s a cultural shift that Joffrey and his loved ones are deservedly feeling in every possible manner, a shift that Queen Regent Cersei (Lena Headey) faces directly during a pivotal riot teased in the new trailer. The Drowned God Rises A fairly unassuming character in season one, Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) becomes one of the most prominent players in the “Thrones” saga this coming season. Here, you see his not-so-triumphant return to the Iron Islands, his homeland he’s been separated from for over a decade. Though his loyalties lie with King in the North Robb Stark (Richard Madden) by nurture, Theon believes himself Ironborn by nature — and he’ll have to test that very struggle in most desperate ways as “Thrones” embarks on its next string of episodes. Katy Perry’s Hair: Why So Blue?

Perry’s hair colorist weighs in on the pop star’s ever-changing locks. By Jocelyn Vena Katy Perry Photo: Jeff Bottari/ Getty Images Over the weekend, Katy Perry debuted another shade of blue hair in Las Vegas . The newer, bluer hair was more turquoise than the look she had sported weeks before on the set of an Adidas commercial . Katy is constantly changing her hair color from black to blond to pink, and seemingly every shade in between. These days, however, it seems she’s settled on blue. So, when MTV News spoke to her longtime hair colorist, Rita Hazan, she gave us the low-down on why Ms. Perry is feeling so blue these days. “Of course, being Katy, she is a lot more edgy and she’s cooler and she likes to take a lot of risks. And I love that she’s like, ‘I’m feeling a little blue, let’s go blue’ — not in her energy, just in her hair color,” Hazan explained to MTV News about the pop star’s current hair-color choice. “I felt like it’s the perfect color for her because her eyes are blue and she has the perfect skin tone to be a really vibrant, really cool, intense blue.” When Hazan first heard about Perry’s decision to deepen her locks to blue, she wanted her to be a “cobalt blue, muted cobalt blue; it’s really cool. It took me three days to come up with this color. I’m so obsessed with it. It’s like the wallpaper for my iPhone.” Since then, the color has lightened up a bit, but regardless of the shade, the hair still has everyone buzzing. “I was shocked by all the crazy reactions that people had to the blue ’cause I thought going from black to pink would have been the major reaction people would have,” she said. “But I kind of like that people are loving the blue ’cause I’m obsessed with blue. So any shade of blue, I’m loving. I know it’s not natural, but it sort of works in a natural way.” Of course, her hair color might have something to do with her recent split from Russell Brand . Kimberley Pierce, a colorist at Ion Studio in New York City, explained that she’s seen many a newly single chick come in and change up their mood with some new hair color. “They’ll come in for a consult and say, ‘My boyfriend and I just broke up and I want brown hair’ and they’re a blonde,” she said, adding that she usually has some advice for those rash decisions. “The best thing we can do for them is tell them to try a wig on first.” Whatever Katy’s reason for the shocking, eye-catching color change, Pierce added that it really works for her. “I kind of like that she got away from the pink because I feel like we’ve seen that so much. With the blue, it’s more vibrant and definitely she’s on her own with it,” she said. “She’s kind of all the way in with the blue. She’s kind of this candy-coated sort of person. So I guess blue would be the natural transition, or purple. It’s nice to see her experiment with different things.” What do you think of Katy Perry’s new blue hair? Leave your comment below! The Black Keys Blast Berlin

Band shakes up Germany’s capital on Saturday night with blistering sold-out show. By James Montgomery The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach performs in Berlin on Saturday Photo: Jakubaszek/ Getty Images BERLIN — The Black Keys are not a particularly verbose band; they are, however, an incredibly voluminous one. That lesson was learned during their blistering sold-out show Saturday in Germany’s capital city, which was short on between-song banter — frontman Dan Auerbach offered just a few “All right, thank you so much”s and drummer Patrick Carney was basically mute (though he is pretty funny on Twitter) — and long on the kind of smash-n-bash blues/garage/soul that has become the Keys’ near-patented racket. Drawing heavily from their breakout Brothers album and the equally successful El Camino, the duo, aided by backing band for extra oomph, tore through 90-plus minutes of sweaty, snarling stuff, a full-bore workout for their triumphant run of U.S. arena shows, which kicks off in March. (MTV News was in Berlin to catch up with the Black Keys for a special event we can’t quite talk about just yet …) But on this night, they also seemed to take additional inspiration from the venue they were playing: the crumbling, cavernous Treptow Arena, whose brick-and-mortar shell doesn’t disguise the fact that it once was a bus depot, an industrial bent that suited the Keys’ Akron, Ohio, roots just fine (check their 2004 Rubber Factory album for proof). Auerbach’s drawl on “Howlin’ For You” seemed just a little more raw, the guitars on “Next Girl” and “Your Touch” roared with diesel-powered authority, and Carney’s pounding on “Girl is on My Mind” recalled a chortling 8-cylinder engine. In other words, the Black Keys seemed perfectly at home, even though they were anything but. New songs like “Gold on the Ceiling” and “Little Black Submarines” crackled with energy and attitude (Auerbach’s solos in the latter did both), and older tunes like “Hold Me in Your Arms” — which made an appearance during their extended, mid-set session as just a two-piece — was streaked with soul (and some serious riffs, too). “Lonely Boy” careened along on a surf-tinged backbeat and fuzzy, gut-box guitars; “Tighten Up” was the rare moment of pure-pop sheen; and “Ten Cent Pistol” simmered with a smoky, sexy tension. All of those moments were positively devoured by the German crowd, 9,000 hearty souls who queued up around the block hours before doors opened, and fended off some seriously frigid temperatures — and snow — with beery cheer. (Germany has some rather lax open-container laws, to say the very least.) But they took that frenzy to an even higher level during the Keys’ encore, helping Auerbach hit the high notes on the swoony “Everlasting Light” (which was powered not only by the band, but a truly epic disco ball dangling overhead) and leaping for joy during “I Got Mine,” which extended into a ringing, reverbed jam before winding to a close. Of course, at the end, Auerbach simply thanked the crowd, Carney chucked his drumsticks into the audience, and the band exited stage right. The Black Keys may not be big on making speeches, but they don’t have to be. On most nights — this one included, far from home but still swaggering — they get by on raw power alone.
