Yo Gotti Details Deep-Rooted Ties To Rick Ross, Drake

‘It’s always been the same, still till this day,’ MC tells ‘RapFix Live’ of friendship with Ross. By Rob Markman Yo Gotti Photo: Natasha Chandel/ MTV News Yo Gotti may have just released his major-label debut, but the Memphis, Tennessee MC has always gotten major level respect. With an independent grind that dates back to his 2000 album From da Dope Game 2 da Rap Game , Gotti has remained one of hip-hop’s most beloved underground artists. Needless to say, he’s built some key relationships along the way — one of them being with the biggest boss, Rick Ross . “Ross is like a big brother,” Gotti said on Wednesday’s “RapFix Live” . “I met Ross when [“Hustlin’ ” came out], before he was Rick Ross now as far as his accomplishments. It’s always been the same, still ’til this day. If I hit him or he hits me on any given day, it’s the same love.” Rozay rides shotgun on “Harder,” a track from Gotti’s Live From the Kitchen , which was released on Tuesday. The Bawse isn’t the only high-profile rap guest, however. Jadakiss, 2 Chainz, Big K.R.I.T., Big Sean, Wiz Khalifa, Gucci Mane and Nicki Minaj all appear on the LP. Another MC connected to Gotti is Drake, though the Young Money standout isn’t featured on the album. Drizzy, who would spend summers in Gotti’s native Memphis, name drops the rapper on “Underground Kings,” a track from his most recent release Take Care . “Memphis, Tennessee no, see I start to go deep back/ In Ridge Crest with my seat back, with Yo Gotti and E-Mack,” Drake spits about his connection to the southern city and it’s beloved rap scene. “I got a lot of respect for Drake, most definitely; he’s killin’ it,” Gotti said of the Toronto standout whom he met years before Drizzy signed to Lil Wayne and became a star. “Back then it wasn’t really much talkin’, you know, ’cause he was just kinda quiet. He was on his mission, though; you see he went on it.” What do you think of Yo Gotti’s Live From the Kitchen ? Tell us in the comments! Nicki Minaj, Foo Fighters To Perform At Grammys

Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars also on the show. By Gil Kaufman Nicki Minaj Photo: Getty Images The performer roster for the upcoming 54th annual Grammy Awards
is beginning to fill out and Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift are among the nominated ladies who will take the stage on the show. They’ll have plenty of help from some of this year’s other nominees, as Kelly Clarkson, the Foo Fighters , Bruno Mars and Jason Aldean will also sing on the show. The show, which airs live on CBS on February 12, will mark the first Grammy performance for Aldean and Minaj. The Foos and Mars will go into the night with six nominations each, while Minaj is vying in four categories, including Best New Artist
, where she’ll face off against Bon Iver, Skrillex, J. Cole and the Band Perry. Aldean and Swift are both up for three awards and Clarkson has two nominations. While many of the most decorated acts typically perform on the show, there is no word yet on whether the night’s leading nominee, Kanye West , who has seven nods, will play on the show. It’s also unknown if six-time-nominee Adele will be sufficiently recovered from her vocal surgery
to make her comeback appearance on the broadcast. While Adele has not confirmed or denied her appearance, a recent report claimed that she is in talks to sing on the show now that she’s begun talking again with her doctor’s permission. Since she doesn’t want to rush back and injure her vocal cord again, the singer is reportedly waiting until early next month to decide if she can sing in public again. More performers, presenters and special segment will be announced in the coming weeks. Related Artists Nicki Minaj Foo Fighters Bruno Mars Kelly Clarkson Taylor Swift

Kelly Clarkson To Sing National Anthem At Super Bowl

Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert scheduled to perform ‘America The Beautiful.’ By James Dinh Kelly Clarkson Photo: Ethan Miller/ Getty Images Kelly Clarkson will trail the footsteps of a string of big-voiced divas before her when she kicks off Super Bowl XLVI belting out the national anthem, according to The Associated Press. The announcement was expected to be made later this month, but a source close to the AP broke the news on Wednesday night (January 11). Country couple Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are also set to serve as entertainment when they perform “America The Beautiful” during the pre-game rounds. And, of course, Madonna will make her much-talked-about comeback when she rocks Lucas Oil Stadium as the championship game’s halftime show performer. The pop queen, who just announced the title of her 12th studio album, M.D.N.A. , will perform her new single “Gimme all Your Luvin” in a performance that will be “imagined” by Cirque du Soleil and her longtime creative director Jamie King. Clarkson is no stranger to national TV exposure. Just this past weekend, the pop songstress wrapped up another big gig as musical guest for “Saturday Night Live.” Marking her third appearance on the iconic sketch comedy show, the singer performed her new hits “Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)” and “Mr. Know It All.” MTV News caught up with the original “American Idol” champion, who gushed about the “SNL” cast. “It’s a fun environment. You don’t feel like you’re working,” she admitted. “This is like a family place. Everybody here is nice to people who aren’t famous. You know what I’m saying? They’re nice to my makeup artist, my hair guy … I hate people who are just nice to famous people. It bothers me. I want to kick ’em.” Are you excited to see Kelly perform the patriotic tune at this year’s Super Bowl? Tell us in the comments below. ‘Making The Band’ Alum Chopper City Recalls Recent Shooting

‘I gave him that look like, ‘You gonna have to kill me if you want this,’ ‘ MC exclusively tells MTV News. Chopper City Photo: Bad Boy The past few days have been scary for “Making the Band 2” star Chopper City , but after being shot Friday, the New Orleans MC is out of the hospital and on the mend. The rapper, who dropped a group album ( Too Hot for TV ) with Da Band on Bad Boy in 2003, was driving through Michigan on his way to a show when he got lost after his phone battery died and his GPS app failed. Chopper then noticed that a car was following him and pulled the Lamborghini he was driving into a gas station to try to shake his tail. “He acted like he was walkin’ past me … and I seen him reach for a strap,” Chopper told MTV News from his hotel room in Chicago. “He started shootin’ at me, and he shot inside my Lamborghini, and he hit me on my side. “He looked at my jewelry, but I gave him that look like, ‘You gonna have to kill me if you want this,’ ” the rapper continued. The shooter let off as many as four shots, Chopper estimated; he was hit once in his left leg. The gunman fled empty-handed, and the rapper was taken to the hospital, where he was able to charge his phone and call his entourage. As of now, no arrests have been made. “You shot me for nothing; I didn’t do nothing to you, dog,” he said. “I just a young dude trying to do my thing. I just felt like that was an unnecessary crime.” Since “Making the Band 2” went off the air in 2004, Chopper City has been grinding independently, releasing mixtapes and touring without the aid of a major label. His most recent mixtape, Zoovie with DJ Gunpay, was released last summer, and Chopper plans to drop his next tape, Hard to Kill, on his 26th birthday January 22. “I came up with it while I was in the hospital,” Chopper said of Hard to Kill. “They tried to kill, you ain’t just gonna kill me like that. I ain’t goin’ out like that.”

People’s Choice Awards Preview: ‘Hunger Games’ Cast, Demi Lovato, More Set To Hit Stage

Stars of ‘Twilight’ and ‘Harry Potter’ also on star-studded lineup for show airing tonight on CBS at 9 p.m. ET. By John Mitchell Jennifer Lawrence Photo: Dan Kitwood/Getty Images The People’s Choice Awards may be one of the more democratic awards shows of the season. After all, it’s fans, and not a faceless “academy” of industry professionals that decide who’ll take home the big PCA prizes in categories like Favorite Tour Headliner, Favorite TV Celebreality Star and Favorite Movie Star Under 25. And it’s all happening tonight at 9 p.m. ET on CBS. Host Kaley Cuoco, herself a nominee for her turn on “The Big Bang Theory,” promised a fun-filled evening, telling Ryan Seacrest on his radio show, “I’m really looking forward to it and there are a lot of great musical numbers and it’s going to be fun.” She also joked with the “American Idol” host that she plans on “changing 47 times, 47 dresses. I’m changing every 5 minutes. I want to go down in the Hall of Fame with that. So we’ll see how many times I can possibly change.” So who can fans expect to see on the red carpet? Only some of the biggest A-listers from the worlds of film, TV and music, including “Twilight” stars Robert Pattinson and Ashley Greene; “Hunger Games” leads Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson; as well as Emma Stone, Vanessa Hudgens, Chloe Grace Moretz, Maroon 5’s Adam Levine, Julianne Hough and “Glee” stars Lea Michele and Cory Monteith. Also expected to attend are Dan Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson and Tom Felton of “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2,” which leads all nominees this year. “Potter” heads into the awards with nine nominations for Favorite Movie and Favorite Action Movie, Favorite Actor (Radcliffe), Favorite Movie Star Under 25 (Radcliffe, Grint, Felton and Watson), Favorite Ensemble Movie Cast and Favorite Book Adaptation. One notable absence is nominee Katy Perry, who was set to make her first public appearance following the announcement of her divorce from Russell Brand at tonight’s live event but cancelled earlier this week. She apologized to her fans on Twitter , writing, “Unfortunately I will not be able to attend the People’s Choice Awards. I want to thank u all for voting for me, fingers crossed! #KATYCATS.” Perry is nominated for a whopping seven People’s Choice Awards, including Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Song of the Year (“E.T.”), Favorite Pop Artist, Favorite Animated Movie Voice (“The Smurfs”) and Favorite Music Video for “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).” PCA executive producer Mark Burnett clearly sympathizes with Perry’s decision not to attend , telling E! News that her choice was completely “understandable.” The show will include musical performances from Faith Hill and Demi Lovato as well as comedy sketches featuring Jimmy Fallon, Jane Lynch and the casts of “Parks and Recreation” and Cuoco’s own “The Big Bang Theory.” Among the other major nominees are “Bridesmaids,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” “The Help,” “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” and “Potter” for Favorite Movie. Ryan Reynolds, Pattinson, Johnny Depp, Hugh Jackman, and Radcliffe will vie for Favorite Movie Actor, while Anne Hathaway, Emma Stone, Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts and Reese Witherspoon are squaring off for Favorite Movie Actress. In the music categories, the Favorite Male and Female Artist races are a who’s who of MTV favorites, including Eminem, Bruno Mars, Justin Bieber, Perry, Adele, new mom Beyonc
