Today (July 9), cannabis company Caliva announced it has named the Brooklyn multi-hyphenate its Chief Brand Strategist. Reportedly it’s a multiyear deal and Jigga is tasked with “driving creative direction, outreach efforts and strategy” for the brand. We’re going to say he has experience in such matters. Part of Mr. Carter’s duties includes the participation of individuals who were incarcerated for their illegal marijuana activities. The goal is giving the aforementioned a fair shot at getting in the game post-legalization. “Anything I do, I want to do correctly and at the highest level,” said Jay-Z via a press statement. “With all the potential in the cannabis industry, Caliva’s expertise and ethos makes them the best partner for this endeavor. We want to create something amazing, have fun in the process, do good and bring people along the way.” Caliva is a cannabis consumer products company that was founded in 2015. The brand boasts a first-place finish in the 2019 High Times Cannabis Cup thanks to the “Z-Cube” in the Best Hybrid category. Other products it sells include vapes, tinctures and beverages. Jay-Z wins, again.

Early Tuesday morning, an armored truck filled with money spilled from the back spewing dollars all over 285 Westbound near Ashford-Dunwoody Road. Commuters saw a quick come up, as they pull over in the shoulder to dive in the streets to get themselves a nice handful of cash. Police fortunately say there were no accidents, and most of the cars where gone even before officers arrived. I bet this makes you slow up a bit when you see an armored truck. Police say the boy was playing with fireworks just around midnight when a man told him to stop. The boy kept shooting off fireworks when the man pulled a gun, shooting the boy multiple times, then fleeing the scene. According to authorities, the boy is in stable condition, but the shooter is still on the large. If you have any information, please contact local authorities. Last summer there where a slew of teen shootings in metro Atlanta. These unfortunate events spawned the community to leap into action to stop any further any senseless violence and loss. (See Reec of Hot 107.9 on 11 Alive Talking about 2018 Teen Violence Prevention). This year several organizations have banded together to be proactive in their approach to keep our communities teens safe this summer and prevent families from dealing with the tragedy that last years summer presented. This initiative has been dubbed #Project79, and the collaborative is spearheaded by Keith A. Lewis, Founder of I’m a father First Foundation. Through strategic partnerships with businesses, non profits, community leaders and venues, Project 79 will offer daily activities, job opportunities and mentors for teens, mainly young black boys and men. These initiatives will range from seminars, group Stone Mountain climbs and even a water gun fight! Here are a few upcoming events!
