The album would be called The Man and the Martian, Tip reveals to MTV News’ Sway. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Sway Calloway T.I. Photo: Shade 45 Jay-Z and Kanye, Eminem and Royce Da 5’9″, Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame: Could T.I. and B.o.B be next? Since Tip’s release from prison in September , the Atlanta rapper has been keeping busy in the studio, churning out collaborations with the Throne , Young Jeezy, 2 Chainz and Big K.R.I.T. But T.I. tells MTV News’ Sway that fans may hear a lot more from him and Bobby Ray. “We been goin’ in. We’re actually flirting with the idea of doin’ an album together called The Man and the Martian, ” T.I. said when he appeared Wednesday on Shade 45’s “Sway in the Morning.” “We just been compiling material, he and I together, and it’s coming out real good.” As far as deciding who is the man and who will play the martian, T.I. left things open. “Well, we interchange,” he explained. “We can do role reversal, we have the morphing ability.” Collaborative rap albums are a definite trend and while T.I. admits that he has been inspired by the Throne, and Em and Royce, he said he has always wanted to do a combo album with another artist. “Of course they did inspire me, but I always have wanted to do a collaborative album. Even back when Jay did that with R. Kelly,” he said. “I spoke to Usher about doing one of those before; the stars and the moon hadn’t aligned appropriately.” T.I. revealed that he first spoke to Usher about doing a joint LP back in 2007 or 2008, and though it didn’t materialize, the MC would still be down to tackle the project. The Grand Hustle CEO was also very clear that none of the aforementioned plans has gotten past the idea stage. “Even this, this is a conversation that we had, this is an idea,” he said about the possibility of a B.o.B record. “It’s not set in stone, it’s not concrete as of yet.” Catch MTV News’ Sway Calloway on “Sway in the Morning,” on SiriusXM Radio’s Shade 45 , Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to noon ET. ‘I refuse to remain stagnant,’ T.I. tells MTV News in Atlanta. By Rob Markman, with reporting by Rahman Dukes T.I. Photo: MTV News This past weekend, Atlanta’s hip-hop community rolled out a regal red carpet for the return of a King. After T.I. was released from prison last Thursday, the King of the South was quick to make his presence felt publicly. With a few club appearances, song releases, radio interviews and, of course, a comeback performance at the taping for the October 11 BET Hip Hop Awards , T.I.’s actions suggest that he’s ready to reclaim his throne. And when he spoke to MTV News the King was noticeably humbled by the love ATL has shown him in the short time since his return. “I feel phenomenal. But I’ve always been the kind of guy — I never really get a chance to soak up the feeling of the moment because even as we speak, I’m planning for the next moment,” T.I. said during a Sunday brunch for his Akoo clothing brand on Sunday. “I’m looking to the future and trying to just move forward, just moving forward. I refuse to remain stagnant.” Last Friday, the day after his release, Tip gave Atlanta’s V-103 his first post-prison interview and premiered his new single “I’m Flexin’.” Later that night, the Trap Muzik MC made an appearance at Club Esso and followed that up the next day with an opening slot (along with Young Jeezy) at BET’s Hip Hop Awards. The night still wasn’t over, though, as he headed to an awards-show afterparty with Diddy . He topped that all off with the Sunday brunch and a surprise performance with Taylor Swift when the country star’s tour hit Atlanta that day. What a week! Related Artists T.I.

Big K.R.I.T. produced the song and is featured on the chorus. By Alvin Blanco T.I. Photo: Getty Images T.I. just completed his 11-month prison sentence Thursday, and he’s already dropping musical heat. On Friday (September 30), the Atlanta rapper released his first post-prison single, “I’m Flexin’,” featuring Big K.R.I.T. The song was originally due for release Monday , but instead, fans are getting an end-of-the-week treat. The multitalented K.R.I.T., whose debut album’s release has been pushed back to next year, handles the song’s chorus and production, while T.I. delivers three verses with a double-time flow, using the song to assert that he is officially back. “My hustle grand, my money long, my spot on top but y’all want that/ My position vacant, my crown away but my throne is empty, I own that,” he spits on the second verse over the instrumental’s nimble drums, keys and electric guitars. T.I. appeared on New York radio station Hot 107, giving his first interview since being released from prison. During his chat, T.I. gave praise to the current movement in his hometown of Atlanta with the surge of new rappers and said that the city needs his help. Later Friday, Tip will celebrate his birthday at Atlanta’s Club Esso. Since his return to a halfway house to finish his federal sentence, Tip has appeared on songs with 2Chainz (“Spend It” remix), Future (“Magic” remix) and Young Jeezy (“F.A.ME.”). But “I’m Flexin’,” which was released via Tip’s TrapMuzik.com website, is the first song credited as his own. Also made available was an excerpt from the trap rapper’s upcoming novel, “Power & Beauty: A Love Story of Life on the Streets,” co-written with David Ritz, which will be released October 18. As for more music, a message Thursday on Tip’s Twitter reveals that fans can expect a few more remixes from the “Rubberband Man” shortly. “N!*%$ in Paris already a dun-datta…pending Ye&J’s approval. ‘Sleezy’ w/Ke$ha & ‘Magic’ w/Future too…what else???” he tweeted. “The record is hot,” DJ Drama, T.I.’s longtime collaborator , told MTV News about “I’m Flexin’ ” earlier this week. “Big K.R.I.T. deserves it. He’s been working for a long time. So they’re both fans of each other, so sh– is definitely gonna be a nice sound for the ear.” What do you think of “I’m Flexin’ “? ‘Everybody is just an arm of the octopus,’ Robert Downey Jr., tells Entertainment Weekly. By Kara Warner Avengers on the cover of Entertainment Weekly Photo: Entertainment Weekly For the most dedicated “Avengers” fans who’ve been paying attention to every story printed, photo leaked or fan video uploaded to YouTube, it’s safe to say that nearly everything we know about the Joss Whedon-helmed superhero epic is pretty awesome. Entertainment Weekly has assembled the star-studded cast on the cover of this week’s issue, along with an accompanying cover story that offers yet another excitement-inducing glimpse into the makings of what could be next year’s biggest movie. Whedon told the mag that he fully understands the amount of pressure he’s under to deliver but that he has to allow himself room for error. “Every day I make some boneheaded mistake and I go, ‘Really? Wow. So no learning curve, huh?’ There is a weird element of: They handed me one of the biggest movies of all time, and I’m making it up as I go.” As far as the A-listers in the cast go, there have been learning curves on their end as well, like Mark Ruffalo feeling anxious about taking over the Hulk from predecessor Edward Norton. “Norton and I are friends, and he was like, ‘You’ve gotta do it, buddy.’ He basically bequeathed it to me,” Ruffalo said. “It was very cool and very generous of him.” Meanwhile, Robert Downey Jr. revealed that he had to come to terms with the “sharing is caring” aspect of the ensemble film, versus pushing for his Tony Stark to be the centerpiece like in his “Iron Man” movies. “I said [to Whedon], ‘I don’t know what you’re thinking, but Tony needs to drive this thing.’ He was like, ‘OK, let’s try that.’ We tried it, and it didn’t work,” Downey said. “Because this is a different sort of thing. Everybody is just an arm of the octopus.” That “octopus” — i.e. the ensemble cast that consists of Ruffalo’s Incredible Hulk, Downey’s Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Chris Evans’ Captain America, Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye and Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow — has become one big happy family, according to all parties involved. “Joss describes it as the definition of family,” Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said. “These are people who have no business being together, but they are thrust together and need to make the best of it.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Avengers.” For breaking news and previews of the latest comic book movies — updated around the clock — visit SplashPage.MTV.com .
