Mary J. Blige Announces Tour With Jazmine Sullivan

Outing, which kicks off October 2 in Atlanta, also includes R&B singer Miguel. By Jayson Rodriguez Jazmine Sullivan and Mary J. Blige Photo: Larry Marano/Getty Images Mary J. Blige and Jazmine Sullivan first teamed up at BET’s “SOS Saving Ourselves: Help for Haiti” telethon earlier this year, and now the two singers will join forces once again, as they’re set to hit the road together for a fall tour. Blige announced the trek — also scheduled to include Miguel — during an appearance on BET’s “106 & Park.” The tour will begin October 2 in Atlanta and feature stops in New York (October 11 and 12); Atlantic City, New Jersey (October 8); and Virginia Beach, Virginia (October 3). Blige told the “106 & Park” studio audience that Sullivan was “one of the most amazing female singers out right now in this generation, and of course, she’s got to be a part of my generation.” She added: “She’s my sister. I love this girl’s voice and spirit. Jazmine Sullivan is for real, and she’s going on the road with me.” The Philadelphia-born Sullivan’s Missy Elliott-produced “Holding You Down (Goin’ in Circles)” remix, which features Blige and Swizz Beatz, dropped Monday. The track samples several hip-hop and R&B hits, including Slick Rick’s “La Di Da Di,” rap supergroup the Firm’s “Affirmative Action” and Blige’s “Be Happy.” Sullivan is set to release her sophomore project, Love Me Back, in October; Miguel is finishing up his debut, All I Want Is You, for release next year. Kings Of Leon Plan To Play Some ‘Beachy’ New Songs On Tour

‘It’ll be tough to not play the whole thing at Bonnaroo,’ drummer Nathan Followill says of upcoming album. By James Montgomery, with reporting by Sasha Hamrogue Nathan Followill of Kings Of Leon Photo: Stephen Lovekin/ Getty Images The Kings of Leon may have ditched the sunny climes of Los Angeles (or their native Nashville) to work on the follow-up to their breakout album, Only by the Night, but that doesn’t mean the new album is shaping up to be a dour affair. Far from it, in fact. “[This is] the first time we’d ever recorded in New York City, and we thought we’d come out with a little more darker record, because we had done all our records either in Nashville or L.A., where it’s a little more chilled out, not as much hustle and bustle,” KOL drummer Nathan Followill told MTV Radio during a Bonnaroo conference call Tuesday. “And I’ll be damned if we didn’t go in there and make a fun record! It’s got songs that are beachy, it’s got songs that are a little more like our Youth and Young Manhood days. … We’re super excited.” Followill said the new album is nearly finished and that he and the rest of the Kings are now putting the finishing touches on it back in Nashville. There’s still no title or release date (or song titles: “We haven’t even named ’em all yet, to be honest”), but there’s a pretty good chance the band’s fans will get a sneak peek of some of the new material on KOL’s upcoming tour, which kicks off June 5 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and includes a headlining slot at the 2010 Bonnaroo festival , set for June 10-13 in Manchester, Tennessee. “The record’s coming along great, man. It’ll be tough to not play the whole thing at Bonnaroo,” Followill laughed. “We’re going to try to be very selective of what we play, but there will definitely be some new tunes, for sure. … Anytime you’re coming into a tour after a new record, especially one that’s not even out yet, it’s pretty tough to not play the whole thing, so our set list at Bonnaroo, I think it’ll be a lot of oldies, a lot of goodies and probably a few more new ones than people are expecting for us.” Will you check out Kings of Leon’s upcoming tour? Papi Copy: Jay-Z Sues David Ortiz Over Club Name

Rapper and noted Yankee fan Jay-Z is suing Boston Red Sox star David Ortiz for opening a nightclub in his native Dominican Republic named “Forty-Forty.” Jay-Z thinks that’s a sample that’s too close to his line of “sports lounges” which carry the “40/40 Club” name … even if Big Papi is spelling out the digits. Jay-Z and business partner Juan Perez own 40/40 Clubs in New York City, Atlantic City and Las Vegas and have plans to open venues in Tokyo and Macau. They have accused Ortiz of “trading on the fame, value and goodwill of their name through his club Forty/Forty and its website, www.fortyforty.net.” Okay, but would he sue Alex Rodriguez for the same thing? Just asking. THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK : If you can’t beat ’em, sue ’em! Wait, the Yankees won the World Series last year. Never mind. That’s just adding insult to injury then . The lawsuit also notes that “David Ortiz is fully aware of plaintiff’s Manhattan 40/40 Club, since he had been a patron there on several occasions.” Jay-Z named his club “40/40” because in baseball, that refers to a 40-home run, 40-steal season, or “as exclusive as it gets.” Cool name for a club. An odd choice for Ortiz to rip off, though, as he is one of the slowest land mammals to ever roam this planet, having recorded just 10 thefts career. Make he just likes the food (clearly his waist line would corroborate that)… or he means 40 injections in 40 days, or some better steroid reference.

Jay-Z Performs For Stevie Wonder, Other Stars In Atlantic City

MC enjoys a late dinner with Wonder, Robin Thicke after show, then catches Manny Pacquiao/ Joshua Clottey boxing match. By Shaheem Reid Jay-Z performs in Atlantic City on Saturday Photo: Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa Jay-Z doesn’t just bring out the stars out onstage — earlier this month at New York’s Madison Square Garden , for example, Shaquille O’Neal, LeBron James, Diddy, Rick Ross and Gwyneth Paltrow were among the spectators taking in his BP3 show (and while Lil Wayne appeared onstage during Young Jeezy’s opening set , he probably caught some of Jigga’s show from backstage). And for Jay’s sold-out Saturday night show at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Stevie Wonder, Olympic gold medalist Michael Phelps, Fantasia, Adrienne Bailon, Robin Thicke and two of the “Real Housewives of New Jersey,” Teresa Giudice and Jacqueline Laurita, were in the audience. The show was a tough one for Memphis Bleek, who always performs with Jay. Bleek’s friend and artist G Baby died early Saturday morning after reportedly being shot in New York. Bleek tweeted about G Baby over the weekend, saying, “I’m in a mood I can’t explain. I lost a real n—a 2day. R.I.P. to my n—a G Baby who was like a bro to me!! G. Baby …” Memph stayed strong through the show and helped Jay pull off another successful performance, as they brought the crowd to its feet with classics like “Big Pimpin’ ” and new hits like “Run This Town.” Jay celebrated after the show at the Old Homestead restaurant in the Borgata, where he had a late dinner with Wonder and Thicke, a rep for the venue told MTV News. Jay — being the avid sports fan he is — took in the Manny Pacquiao/ Joshua Clottey boxing match on one of the big screen TVs. Jay references the pugilist from the Philippines on Blueprint 3 ‘s “Thank You,” saying “On the tube, I’m just watching Pacquio box ’em up.” After the 12-round fight, Thicke went to Borgata’s club mur.mur, where Samantha Ronson had spun earlier in the night. Sam’s sister Charlotte Ronson, Angela from “Jersey Shore” and Phelps were among the partygoers. Meanwhile, Jay hit the blackjack tables accompanied by Beyonc

Rapper G Baby Killed

By Shaheem Reid Spike Lee, Memphis Bleek and G Baby Photo: Johnny Nunez/WireImage/Getty Images Details were scarce at press time, but New York rapper G Baby was killed in Queens, New York, early Saturday morning, according to multiple online reports and the rapper’s MySpace page . G Baby was signed to longtime Jay-Z associate Memphis Bleek’s Get Low Records; at press time, New York City police had not provided MTV News with further information or confirmation. Bleek tweeted about G Baby Saturday, writing, “I’m in a mood I can’t explain. I lost a real n—a 2day. R.I.P. to my n—a G Baby who was like a bro to me!! G. Thx to those who showed me love … Get Low we to strong to break!!” Other friends of the rapper’s tweeted about his death as well. “R.I.P G BABY,” Lloyd Banks wrote . “My boy*last time I seen u, we were mixing down [Banks’ track] ‘Beamer Benz or Bentley,’ and u know who paid for everyone’s food? Neva let me pay for sh–! That’s the kind of n—a we lost.” “RIP 2 G Baby,” Tony Yayo added. “A! 1st and foremost RIP to the HOMIE G-BABY,” Juelz Santana wrote . “We lost a good one. Everybody in Queens & Bklyn hold ya head. What up BAI!!!!” “Life is not Promised … Live Life to the fullest, & like there is no 2moro … Lost a soldier in the field this morning … R.I.P. G Baby,” Fabolous wrote . Sources close to the situation told MTV News that G Baby was killed at around 5 a.m. ET Saturday approximately one block away from Club Amazura in Queens. Fabolous headlined a concert at the venue Friday evening, which ended at around 4:30 a.m. G Baby’s official MySpace page says the rapper was from the Tompkins Houses projects in Brooklyn’s Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood. G Baby had been a close confidant of Bleek’s. Late in February, while speaking to MTV News , Memphis was very excited about jump-starting the careers of G Baby and other Get Low artists Calico and Proof. “I been focused on a lot of things before I got focused on [my new] album,” Bleek said. “I had to think of the release of when Jay [-Z] left Def Jam, ‘What I’mma do with my career? Do I wanna still be under the umbrella or do my own thing?’ So of course I came with the terms, I gotta do my own thing. “I gotta do my on thing because I got a bunch of people behind me that’s waiting for their shot,” he added. “I got G Baby, my artists Cali, Proof that’s been down with me for years. It’s time to step out.” Related Artists Memphis Bleek

Lindsay Lohan to Host Nightclub Bash

Once the star of movies and a of music that wasn’t entirely unpopular, Lindsay Lohan is now the star of celebrity gossip sites and that’s pretty much it. Seriously, in 2010, she’s had zero work, unless you count car crashes, fights with SamRo, being outed as a celebrity hoarder or posing like Jesus Christ . At least she’s got an actual paying gig coming up next weekend – hosting an after dark pool party at Harrah’s Resort & Casino in Atlantic City, N.J.! That ought to net her a few hundred bucks. Way to go, LiLo! If the train wreck even bothers to show up, you can party with the one-time actress at the club for the recession-friendly sum of $25. Not shabby! If you thought gigs like this were reserved for quasi-celebs like K-Fed, Jayde Nicole or J-Woww , you’d be … right! Lindsay is now in that league:
