Do you think she did enough? Held hostage by her addict husband , Deanna DeJesus says she did everything she could in order to protect her children during a SWAT team standoff in their RV park. On Monday, Deanna DeJesus pleaded not guilty to aggravated manslaughter and child neglect in the attack that left her 9-year-old son dead, NBC Miami reports. The 7-year-old, along with the defendant herself, were both severely wounded. In early February, the 38-year-old woman told officials, her husband was struggling with withdrawal as he tried to free himself from an Oxycodone addiction, according to CBS. She said he drove her and their two sons into the car aimlessly before winding up at a Deerfield Beach RV park. Once there, William Dejesus entered an RV at random, forcing his family inside. He shot and killed the RV’s owner, 76-year-old Ovila Plante, and then held Plante’s 72-year-old girlfriend, Pierrette Beauchemin, at gunpoint. The 41-year-old man then barricaded himself, the girlfriend, and his own family inside the RV. William DeJesus called 911 just after shooting Plante, WSVN reported, claiming the man attacked him and he “had to hijack a lady.” When a SWAT team arrived, William DeJesus called 911 again, warning that he was going to shoot himself and his kids. “They want to eat them,” he told officers, though it is not clear who the father meant by “they.” He also reportedly told the boys that the SWAT team was going to eat them…William Dejesus stabbed every member of his family before killing himself with the knife. His 9-year-old son, who had autism, died from the attack. Now, Deanna DeJesus is facing up to 45 years in prison for not protecting the boys. Prosecutors claim that the woman calmly held a child in each arm while her husband asked her which he should kill first. All the mother was able to say in court was that she couldn’t make such a choice, according to the Sun Sentinel. Her 7-year-old son told investigators that because his mother wasn’t doing anything, he had grabbed a knife in an attempt to save his brother. However, his father regained control of the knife and stabbed him several times. Deanna DeJesus said that she did not fight her husband because she knew she would be hurt if she did, according to WIOD. Additionally, her attorney noted that after DeJesus’ husband stabbed her in the lung, she was physically unable to defend her children. As sad of a story as this is…do you think she should be held responsible for doing “what she could” to protect her kids?? Karl Laventure, a man believed to be high on bath salts, attacked police officers and took 20 jolts from a Taser as he threatened to eat them yesterday. Frightened golfers at a driving range in Alpharetta, Ga., called police when Laventure went on a rampage, running around half-naked waving a golf club. Video footage shows the crazed man, 21, being held down by several officers and screaming incoherently about God, Biggie, Tupac, etc. “I’ll eat you! Don’t make me eat you!” he threatened. Karl Laventure (Zombie Cannibal) Attack The case is eerily similar to that of Rudy Eugene, who ate the face off a homeless man in Miami, Fla., and sparked rumors of a zombie apocalypse . Eugene, also believed to be on bath salts while attacking Ronald Poppo , who miraculously survived, was surprisingly not on anything but pot . In any case, he was shot to death by Miami police. In yesterday’s incident, Laventure “just came running at us,” Officer Ross Hancock of the Gwinnett County (Ga.) Police Department told WSBTV. When his partner blasted him with painful pepper spray, “He didn’t even wipe his eyes, he just kept them open.” The cops then tasered him. Although that took Laventure down, he hopped right back up again. “We had to Tase him approximately five more times,” said Hancock. “It took several officers to hold him down to get him cuffed … He was still talking gibberish, still cussing, still saying he wanted to eat us, eat other people.” He reportedly told the officers “Im’ma eat you!” repeatedly. The man was restrained long enough to get him to the hospital, but there the insanity started again and he had to be tasered another 14 times . He was charged with misdemeanor offenses of disorderly conduct and obstruction. The DEA is attempting to control the wave of dangerous synthetic drugs that go by bath salts , K2, Spice, Ivory Wave, Vanilla Sky, Bliss, and Purple Rain. “The chemicals that have been made illegal and designated Schedule 1 controlled substances are mephedron, methylone and MDPV – but they are the ingredients, not the products themselves,” DEA spokesperson Barbara Carreno said. “The challenge with synthetic drugs is that any good chemist can tweak their molecular structure and formula and you have a new product, which isn’t illegal,” she explained. “It is hard for the law to keep up with them.”

UPDATE: A teenager wanted by the FBI on adult charges in Atlanta is in custody after turning himself in to Erie, Pennsylvania police on Wednesday night. Dareal Demare Williams, 17, turned himself in at 10:30 a.m., according to GoErie.com. He was turned over to the FBI. The FBI said he was believed to be staying with friends and relatives in the Erie area. PREVIOUS: FBI agents have identified the third Atlanta gang member who they say was videotaped beating a 20-year-old gay man in Atlanta’s Pittsburgh community earlier this month. The videotaped attack was posted online and went viral. The AJC reports that Dareal Damare Williams is wanted for his part in the Feb. 4 robbery and attack on Brandon White. FBI agents in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania said they believe that Williams, 17, is hiding out in the Erie, Pennsylvania area and have issued an alert in western Pennsylvania. Mayor Kasim Reed raised an Atlanta Crime Stoppers reward several times. The reward is currently $25,000. Police said the responding tips led to the arrest of Christopher Cain, 19, a week after the incident. On Feb. 17, 19-year-old Dorian Moragne turned himself in to police. All three teens are said to be members of a neighborhood gang called 1029 Jack City or Pittsburgh Jack City. The 1029 represents the address of the gang’s hangout, 1029 McDaniels Street. Anyone with information of Williams’ whereabouts are asked to call Atlanta Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477 or Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers at 1-800-472-8477.
