Nicolas Cage’s Domestic Violence Arrest Just Latest Of Actor’s Legal Problems

Cage was arrested on Saturday in New Orleans after violent argument with his wife. By Gil Kaufman Nicolas Cage (file) Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images When he isn’t chasing down his purloined Superman comic books, actor Nicolas Cage has kept busy cranking out a steady combination of box-office fluff and embarrassing mug shots. The latest addition to that canon came on Saturday, when a scruffy-looking Cage was arrested in New Orleans on charges of domestic abuse battery and disturbing the peace. According to ABC News , the heavily intoxicated actor engaged in a violent argument with his wife, Alice Kim, in a tattoo parlor and then on the street, during which he allegedly pushed her, punched a few cars and dared police to arrest him in a scene that could have come from his Oscar-winning 1995 film “Leaving Las Vegas.” It’s just the latest legal problem to face the actor, who has weathered a string of financial and legal setbacks — not to mention a series of box-office duds — over the past few years. Cage was caught on tape getting into a violent altercation at a Romanian nightclub while filming the “Ghost Rider” sequel last year. And though he was not charged in the incident, he also allegedly got into a drunken verbal brawl at a New Orleans bar during Mardi Gras in March. He’s also faced a series of financial problems, despite being one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood. In late 2009, the IRS put a tax lien on Cage’s real-estate holdings, including properties he owns in New Orleans, over failure to pay federal taxes. He is also alleged to have failed to pay more than $6.2 million in taxes in 2007 and more than $350,000 from 2002 to 2004. Cage has admitted that he owes the IRS $14 million and is in the midst of repaying it after changing business managers. While he’s blamed his handlers, they’ve said his outrageous spending on items ranging from lavish homes, castles and Caribbean islands to gothic curios, dozens of cars, jewelry and dinosaur skulls have done him in. Cage has sued his former business manager, Samuel Levin, for $20 million for mismanagement, a claim Levin denies. In addition to the scuffle with his third wife, mother of his young son Kal-El, he’s also been sued by an ex-girlfriend, Christina Fulton, mother of his oldest child, 20-year-old Weston. Fulton hit Cage with a fraud and breach of contract action in 2009. She claimed in the suit that Cage inflicted “mental, physical and emotional abuse” on her during their relationship. She further claimed that he bought her a house in 2001, but that when she tried to sell it in 2009 she learned the title was not in her name. Cage’s spokespeople called the suit “absurd.”

Daniel Radcliffe Talks Avoiding Being Just A ‘Child Star’

‘Harry Potter’ star says he wants make sure that he’s not condemned ‘to the been-and-gone pile.’ By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Daniel Radcliffe Photo: MTV News “The next 12 months are going to be quite telling,” Daniel Radcliffe told us recently, as he faces the end of the “Harry Potter” franchise and attempts to refashion his career, putting the boy wizard who made him a star firmly behind him. The 21-year-old Brit has just kicked off his Broadway musical career with the lead in “How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying,” a show that will keep him Stateside into next year. He’ll be saying goodbye to “Potter” in July, when the second and final part of “The Deathly Hallows” hits theaters, and is looking forward to promoting his starring role in the supernatural thriller “The Woman in Black,” which is scheduled for an early-2012 release. Put together, he’s got quite a busy year ahead of him, at the end of which, Radcliffe himself admits, he’ll be able to tell if he’s successfully broken away from “Potter” territory. Moving past the magical wunderkind is something he wanted to accomplish early and definitively. “If I had been taking some time off and not doing stuff, I think the temptation in terms of the media and the public, to a certain extent, is [that] if you don’t hear from a child star for a while, you can kind of condemn them to the been-and-gone pile,” he explained. “I wanted to make sure that didn’t happen.” His seemed to come to a similar conclusion in March, when she announced her attention to take a break from Brown University and focus again on her acting career. “As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything but recently I’ve had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible,” she wrote on her website, adding that she wanted to “focus on my other professional and acting projects.” Those other projects, like Radcliffe’s, have been far different than “Potter” — a conscious decision both of them have made in order to grow artistically. “I wanted to make sure people knew that I wanted to work and I didn’t necessarily want to take the easy option of immediately signing up to another huge tent-pole fantasy series,” Radcliffe said. “For me, I get very, very bored unless I’m doing something that challenges me and makes me jump through a few hoops.” Are you excited to see what direction Radcliffe’s post-“Harry Potter” career takes? Dear Bossip: He Hordes His Phone!

Hello Bossip fam, lol. I have a problem with a man that I’m dating and I know I’m probably making it a bigger issue than it is. I was married through out my 20′s and been divorced for four years now. Anywho I’ve been dating this guy for about 6 or 7 months now and he’s 3 years younger than me which isn’t a huge difference but it’s enough to make me wonder. Of course he knows why me and me ex-husband divorced and it was because I found evidence of his cheating in his cell phone and it was all I needed to confirm that I wasn’t crazy and that a divorce was in order. The guy I’m seeing now obviously took that and ran with it and now he hordes his phone and granted I told him that if it’s near me I will snoop through it. I believe I meant it as a joke but the more he hides it, it makes me want to go through it! We’re just dating without a real exclusive commitment so it’ snot like I would be justified in being mad at what I find but it really makes me wonder. He won’t even bring the phone in the same room when he stays over or he’ll leave it in the car when we go out. At first I thought it was endearing but now I’m getting suspicious. Should I find a way to get to it or should I leave well enough alone? Good day, sis, thank you for writing in and sharing your story! So, you’re paranoid by the absence of a cellular device when you’re with the man you’re currently dating? Why? If there is no real exclusivity clause in your relationship thus far, then why are you sweating his phone? If he’s not worried about his phone ringing when he’s with you, why are you concerned? He could very well be making a conscious effort to remain courteous, so don’t make a stink about it! And the fact that you’ve already disclosed to him why your marriage ended and that you will not hesitate to go through one’s phone, can you blame him? He’s still entitled to his privacy, Ma! It’s too early in the game for you to be going through the man’s phone! If he’s given you no reason to be concerned with his movements, then don’t sweat it! If he leaves his phone in the car or in another room, who cares? If his attention is devoted to you when you all are together, soak it up! If the communication between the two of you is on point, who cares about a cell phone? He might just want to get to know you without the drama of the “who, what, where when, why and how” line of questioning. A man who’s up to speed on technology knows, through experience or otherwise, that a cell phone can cause a major headache and disturb an otherwise good flow between two people, so they do their best to avoid it. On the other hand, trust your instincts! A woman’s intuition seldom fails her and if you have a gut feeling he’s playing games, you might be right! So do all you need to do to protect yourself emotionally, mentally and physically. If it takes you falling back and taking some space, do it. If you need to initiate an open and honest conversation between the two of you and gauge your movements based upon the results of said conversation, do it … without apology! Here’s the deal, Ma! We all have baggage but what you can’t do is make the mistake of taking all anger and mistrust from your marriage into a new relationship. It’s just unfair and, in the grand scheme of the things, unattractive. So, you should definitely decide whether it’s his actions that have you suspicious or if it’s your past coming back to haunt you. If you need to take time, take it, sis! But by all means, don’t push a potentially promising man away from your life because you can’t let go of the past! Be smart and make smart moves too, sis! Good luck to you! What are your thoughtsm Bossip Fam? Please share them below! Remember to e-mail all topic suggestions, questions and feedback to loveandrelationships@bossip.com !

New West Week Kicks Off With Odd Future, Casey Veggies, More

We take you inside the re-emerging L.A. hip-hop scene, including exclusive interviews with Dom Kennedy, Nipsey Hussle, Tyga and more. By Steven Roberts Odd Future’s Tyler, the Creator Photo: Roger Kisby/Getty Images In recent years, Los Angeles hip-hop has lost its place at the top of the rap game. Dr. Dre’s once ubiquitous G-Funk sound has largely disappeared thanks in part to the emergence of other super-producers, the growing dominance of southern hip-hop and the good doctor’s own absence from the scene. As a result (with the exception of the likes of Game and Snoop Dogg), the region has been mostly dormant on a national scale — until now. In recent years, a new wave of hip-hop acts has emerged, awakening a newfound interest in L.A. hip-hop culture. These artists have each individually carved their own lane without the help of their rap forefathers, creating a sound in contrast to the G-Funk/ gangsta rap sensibility. Beginning Monday, April 18, MTV News will be highlighting some of the best of L.A.’s talented and diverse acts with our weeklong coverage of the New West. The week kicks off with a mixtape double-feature highlighting Nipsey Hussle’s The Marathon and Casey Veggies’ Sleeping in Class. The up-and-coming Casey Veggies has made a lot of noise in the last few months — all while trying to graduate high school. Our second piece is on rising star Nipsey Hussle, who many fans once hoped would singlehandedly bring back the West. Nips’ momentum has slowed a bit in recent months, but the MC won’t be deterred. Nipsey has since embarked on his own marathon, planning to take his career to the next level. One crew that has been pegged as “the next big thing” is the much-hyped Odd Future . OF have made waves in recent months, though, the question remains whether the 10-man collective can take the next step to the mainstream. Then there’s the four-man group known as Black Hippy, made up of Kendrick Lamar, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul and School Boy Q. The foursome have made quite a bit of noise on the underground and it they seem to have already caught the attention of some important people in the industry. But it’s not just the MCs that have been making noise in L.A.; the city’s party and dance scene has also been the focus of hip-hop fans and spawned nationwide trends. The Jerk, the Dougie and Cat Daddy (all dances, of course) have not only brought about new crazes, but they’ve helped to shed light on how L.A. youth are reviving the culture. Finally, can Dom Kennedy, Pac Div and Young Money MC Tyga overcome their underdog status and make their mark outside of L.A.? Each act has been grinding for years, but can they defy the naysayers and prove they’re the cream of the crop? Before the New West Week kicks off, MTV News will be gearing up by talking to a few heavy hitters about the scene. The Doggfather Snoop Dogg talks to us about how the New West MCs have made a name for themselves without a co-sign from the old guard and also shares a little bit about his new artist, Pilot. And Renaissance man Chris Brown opens up to us on Friday about how he got inspiration from L.A.’s party and dance scene while rejuvenating his career. All week, we’ll be bringing you interviews with these artists to watch, breaking it down into four categories: the Black Hippy, the Future, Up and Coming, the Party and the Underdog. Each day, MTV News’ Sway and our hip-hop beat team will focus on a theme and recap the following day. Starting Monday, stick with us all week as MTV News turns the spotlight on the New West, the next wave of hip-hop acts helping to restore faith in the L.A. rap scene. From groups like Odd Future to rising MCs like Dom Kennedy, we’ll bring you up close and personal to these artists as they carve their own lanes in the post-gangsta rap era. Keep it locked here for the next week for more on the West Coast up-and-comers!- Related Videos The New West: An In-Depth Look At L.A. Kim Kardashian Works Her Strange Booty

Here’s Kim Kardashian working out on the beach in a really hard working pair of spandex leggings. Those poor things must be exhausted trying to keep that strange booty from oozing out all over the place. That thing is just weird, I hate to say it, but no amount of exercise is going to shrink it down to a reasonable size. She needs to go on one of those strange internet cabbage soup diets. Gross.

Green Day’s ‘American Idiot’ Musical May Become Feature Film

Reports have Tom Hanks and Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black attached to the project. By James Montgomery Billie Joe Armstrong performs with the cast of “American Idiot” Photo: Slaven Vlasic/ Getty Images It’s been green-lit, killed, resurrected and put on the back burner, but now it appears that the long-in-the-works film version of Green Day’s American Idiot album might finally become a reality. On Wednesday (April 13), Reuters reported that Universal is in negotiations to pick up the screen rights to the Broadway version of “Idiot,” and has hired Michael Mayer &#8212 who directs the stage production &#8212 to shoot the movie version. Reuters also reported that Dustin Lance Black, the Oscar-winning writer of 2008’s “Milk,” is “in discussions” to write the screenplay, and that Tom Hanks will serve as producer on the film, along with Green Day themselves. (Hanks and his business partner Gary Goetzman were producers on the film version of the Broadway smash “Mamma Mia!,” the musical based on the songs of ABBA.) All of that means that, after a voyage that started way back in 2004 &#8212 when Billie Joe Armstrong told MTV News that the bandmembers were “talking” to screenwriters about adapting the album for the big screen &#8212 American Idiot could finally find its way to your local multiplex. In 2006, Armstrong promised fans that the film version of Green Day’s hit album would “definitely … happen,” but the band instead turned their attention to creating their next album (2009’s 21st Century Breakdown ) and a stage version of Idiot, which premiered at Berkeley, California’s Berkeley Repertory Theater in ’09 before heading to Broadway. Still, they remained adamant that a film would be coming, with Armstrong telling The Associated Press that it would echo the feel of cult classic “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Hanks’ reported attachment to the project is also interesting, considering that last year, Green Day dismissed his involvement as “just talk.” A spokesperson for Green Day could not be reached for comment by press time. Meanwhile, the “American Idiot” musical will officially end its Broadway run on April 24, with Armstrong reprising his role of St. Jimmy. Jennifer Metcalfe’s Hotness Drives Me Nuts

For those of you who don’t know who this Jennifer Metcalfe hottie is, she’s an actress on some British soap opera called Hollyoaks . At least that’s according to all the research I’ve done looking at this cover picture of Nuts magazine. I don’t think it’s all that important who she is, what matters is what she’s wearing and the effect it’s having on my genitals. The girl just looks amazing in a bikini and the folks over at Nuts seem to have a real knack at catching that on film. Well done.

Kim Kardashian’s Big Workout Booty

We all know how big and lovely Kim Kardashian’s booty is, we’ve certainly seen it enough, but I thought I’d give you all a little refresher course with some shots of her in her workout gear. Some people might not find it hot, I for one love that big thing. I prefer it when it’s all dressed up in a fancy dress and some big old matching cleavage, but I’ll take it stuffed into some hard working spandex any day. Enjoy.

Hilary Duff’s Chunky Sweater Puppies

Is it just me or does Hilary Duff look a little chunky again? I guess she’s married now so who cares if she puts on a little weight? I care damn it!!! That’s who. She’s always been a little soft around the edges, but this just doesn’t look very attractive. I need to calm down, it’s probably just the outfit that’s making her look like this, it’ll be alright. If I focus all my attention on her big chubcakes or sweater puppies or whatever you want to call them, I can get through this. Much better.
