South Carolina Police Perform Public Cavity Search Dashcam footage has surfaced of two North Carolina officers who not only pulled over two Black passengers unnecessarily , but commenced to search their entire vehicle then complete cavity searches on both of them in a futile search for drugs. The officer pulled the vehicle over for having paper tags — which is well within the law in South Carolina. Via Washington Post : Medlin then asks Pontoon for identification. Since he was in the passenger seat, Pontoon wouldn’t have been required to provide ID even if the stop had been legitimate. Still, he provides his driver’s license to Medlin. A couple of minutes later, Medlin tells Hicks that her license and tags check out. (You can see the time stamp in the lower left corner of the video.) This should be the end of the stop — which, again, should never have happened in the first place. Instead, Medlin orders Pontoon out of the vehicle and handcuffs him. He also orders Hicks out of the car. Pontoon then asks Medlin what’s happening. Medlin ignores him. Pontoon asks again. Medlin responds that he’ll “explain it all in a minute.” Several minutes later, a female officers appears. Medlin then tells Pontoon, “Because of your history, I’ve got a dog coming in here. Gonna walk a dog around the car.” About 30 seconds later, he adds, “You gonna pay for this one, boy.” After a K9 search weilded no results, the officers decide that the drugs they insist MUST be there have to be hidden on the person of the car’s passengers. So they go into a humiliating roadside cavity search: After the search of the car comes up empty, Medlin tells the female officer to “search her real good,” referring to Hicks. The personal search of Hicks is conducted off camera, but according to the complaint filed by Phillips, it allegedly involved exposing Hicks’s breasts on the side of the road in a populated area. The complaint also alleges that this was all done in direct view of the three male officers. That search, too, produced no contraband. The officers then turn their attention to Pontoon. Medlin asks Pontoon to get out of the car. He cuffs him and begins to pat him down. Toward the end of the first video, at about the 12:46:30 mark, he tells Pontoon: “You’ve got something here right between your legs. There’s something hard right there between your legs.” Medlin says that he’s going to “put some gloves on.” You have to watch the full clip, but when told that what he felt was a hemorrhoid, the officer insisted it must be a crack rock instead. SMH! Naturally, the officer who ordered and performed the search still works for the department. Per Shanghaiist : The behaviour of a group of Chinese tourists has been criticised after a video showed a group frenziedly using plates as shovels to gather up shrimp at a hotel buffet in Chiang Mai, with subsequent photos revealing that a large amount of food went wasted. In the video, which has been widely shared on Chinese social media since it came to the attention of state media, the hungry tourists are seen jostling each other to get at the food and walking away with several plates overflowing with shrimp. America’s Next Top Model To Return Without Tyra Banks Hosting Good news for Top Model fans …maybe not so much for the Tyra lovers … Via Entertainment Weekly : We’ve received some important Tyra Mail: VH1 is reviving Tyra Banks’ reality competition America’s Next Top Model. The series, which ended its run on The CW in December 2015, will return to New York City for this new iteration but Banks will not continue as host. However, the supermodel/entrepreneur will still serve as an executive producer. The new ANTM will also introduce a new panel of judges. “After creating an incredible, global brand, I am beyond excited to have the show reborn,” said Banks in a statement. “I will continue as executive producer, but must turn my attention to new business endeavors, so I want to find a new host. I’m pumped to identify that person and bring back the show. Top Model fans, you demanded that the show come back, and VH1 answered the call.
