We had no idea Vybz Kartel was about that life. Not like THIS! via JamaicaObserver.com : Investigators from the Major Investigation Taskforce (MIT) yesterday evening charged dancehall deejay Vybz Kartel with murder, conspiracy to murder and illegal possession of firearm. A news release from the police said that the charges against the deejay, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, were made following the conduct of an interview yesterday afternoon by detectives from the MIT in the presence of his attorneys. “The allegation is that on Monday, July 11, 2011, Palmer, along with other men, conspired to murder Barrington Burton o/c ‘Bossie’, a 27-year-old businessman/promoter of a Gregory Park address in St Catherine. Burton was murdered while he was standing with friends along Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park,” the police release said. Oh, there were witnesses? It’s a wrap. This was the scene when they picked him up… What could have possibly been that serious for him to throw his whole life and career away?

Casey Anthony Verdict: Not Guilty!

In a stunning verdict reached in just 10 hours and 40 minutes of deliberation, a jury acquitted Casey Anthony of murder this afternoon in Orlando, Fla. A red-faced Anthony held back tears after the verdict. Having sat grim faced for almost six weeks of testimony, she beamed when she learned her fate. Comprised of seven women and five men, ranging in ages from 32 to 65, the 12 members of the jury handed down the decision at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday. The jurors spent four hours Sunday and six today breaking down the case against Casey. Ultimately, they found reasonable doubt and she walked. Accused of killing two-year-old daughter Caylee, she was found not guilty of first degree murder, aggravated child abuse and aggravated manslaughter. Casey Anthony was found guilty on four counts of providing false information to law enforcement officers. Those charges are misdemeanor offenses. Anthony could face a year in prison for each of the four counts, but since she’s been incarcerated for three years already, she may go free altogether. Sentencing on the guilty counts will be held on 9 a.m. Thursday. The high-profile trial began on May 24. Much of the 33 days of testimony and two of closing arguments made a compelling case against Anthony. Not enough, apparently. The absence of hard, physical evidence against her and a defense theory that was just plausible enough led to an acquittal. Prosecutors claimed Casey Anthony killed Caylee with chloroform and suffocated her with duct tape over her mouth and nose, then left her in the woods. Casey’s defense team admitted she weaved a complex web of lies about what happened, but suggested that Caylee drowned in the pool by accident. As for why Casey lied, her attorneys said that she behaved that way because she had been “trained to lie” through years of sexual abuse by her father. Judge Belvin Perry ruled, however, that there was no evidence that Casey was abused and ordered that it not be mentioned in closing arguments. Did the jury get it right? What do you think …

Maria Shriver to Divorce Arnold Schwarzenegger

After months of hemming and hawing – even after his love child with Mildred Patricia Baena came to light – Maria Shriver has filed for divorce from Arnold Schwarzenegger, citing irreconcilable differences on the paperwork. The couple has been married 25 years and has no prenup. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver will split around $400 million. The official date of separation is not known, but despite Arnold’s infidelity, Shriver was reportedly torn over whether to follow through with the divorce. As recently as mid-June, Arnold wasn’t giving up on reconciliation. Shriver is asking for spousal support and for joint custody of their minor children, 17-year-old Patrick Arnold Shriver Schwarzenegger and 13-year-old Christopher Sargent Shriver Schwarzenegger. Their other two kids are over 18. The division of property is yet to be determined. Because there is no prenup, under California law, all earnings and other property acquired during the marriage is considered community property, which means a 50/50 split . Since the couple has been married for a quarter century, it’s likely that all their property will be considered communal, even if Arnold’s net worth is higher. In any case, their divorce will never go to trial and will be settled out of court after what will surely be extensive negotiations on behalf of their attorneys. The terms will also be confidential.

Gruesome Evidence Makes Casey Anthony Sick

Casey Anthony abruptly left the courtroom during her murder trial with an undisclosed sickness after seeing graphic photos of her slain daughter’s remains. Whatever the reason, that was the end of the trial for the day. ” Miss Anthony is ill . We’re recessing for the day,” Judge Belvin Perry said. “Neither the state nor the defense has any comment regarding her illness.” The early end to the court session in the Orlando murder trial came after a day of graphic testimony and grisly photographs of Caylee’s remains. Discovered in December 2008, two-year-old Caylee had disappeared five months earlier. Casey Anthony is accused of murdering the toddler. When testimony with the Orange County Chief Deputy Medical Examiner, Dr. Gary Utz, began after s lunch break, Anthony looked weak and pale. Then, after the break, she looked like she was going to be sick. She couldn’t even stand up as the jury left the courtroom. She was escorted out. Utz testified that duct tape was wrapped around Caylee’s skull so tightly that it held her lower jaw in place even amid severe decomposition. He called this highly unusual. “Pieces of silver or gray-colored duct tape [were] over the jaw,” he said. “I’ve never seen a case where the mandible was found with the skull.” Photos of Caylee’s body were shown to the jury.. Earlier in the week, prosecutors say Anthony searched for chloroform and neck breaking online. The defense claims Caylee died of an accidental drowning , a shocking claim they made in opening arguments. How would that exonerate Casey? Casey was in denial due to psychological scars from being sexually abused by her own father when she was a child, her attorneys claim. [Photo: Fox News]

Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray Ordered To Stand Trial

Murray faces manslaughter charges in the singer’s death; his medical license has also been suspended. By Kara Warner Dr. Conrad Murray Photo: Frederick M. Brown/ Getty Images Dr. Conrad Murray has been ordered to stand trial for manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson. According to The Associated Press, Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor made the decision after a six-day preliminary hearing during which witnesses testified that the Houston cardiologist administered a dose of the powerful anesthetic propofol and other sedatives then left the pop star unmonitored. During the course of the hearing, testimony was given that Murray ordered hundreds of bottles of propofol in the months before Jackson’s death. The AP report also cited the fact that the prosecutors concluded their case with testimony from two doctors who said Murray acted outside the standard of medical care when he administered propofol and failed to provide proper care. Other damning testimony included that of Jackson’s bodyguard, who said that on the morning of the singer’s death, it appeared that Murray didn’t know how to administer CPR to his dying patient. Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor also granted a request by the California Medical Board to suspend Murray’s license to practice medicine in the state. Pastor said he made the decision in the interest of public safety and ordered Murray to notify every district in which he practices of the decision within 24 hours. Murray has clinics in Houston and Las Vegas. Murray, 57, has pleaded not guilty, and his attorneys have argued that he did not give Jackson anything that should have killed him. Murray faces up to four years in prison if convicted. Related Artists Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson: Over-Medicated By Other Doctors?

Charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson, Dr. Conrad Murray, is expected to launch a defense based on two points: Michael Jackson killed himself with a lethal dose while alone in a room Other doctors were enabling and excessively medicating the star too Point #1 could be tough to establish, but certain items found in the room where MJ tragically died could bolster Murray’s bid to prove the latter. Murray was Jackson’s personal physician until his 2009 death . Evidence in the room suggests certain potent drugs were “prescribed and prepared” for the star to self-medicate, according to new reports . That could be a significant boost for the embattled doc. Lawyers for Dr. Conrad Murray will not dispute the L.A. County Coroner’s finding that Michael Jackson died of a massive Propofol overdose. However, his attorneys will present evidence that Michael awoke, then gave himself the fatal dose of Propofol when Murray left the room. Whether evidence found at the late King of Pop’s residence will be used in an attempt to implicate other doctors in MJ’s death is unclear.
