Cher Recalls VMA Meeting With Justin Bieber

‘I felt like I should cover up before I take a picture with this baby,’ pop legend says of meeting Bieber while wearing racy ’80s outfit. By Jocelyn Vena Cher at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards Photo: Frederick M. Brown/ Getty Images Cher turned heads at the VMAs back in September when she proudly showed up in the same barely there outfit she wore for her 1989 “If I Could Turn Back Time” video. However, the 64-year-old pop icon admits that she began feeling a bit inappropriately dressed when she was introduced to Justin Bieber that evening. “I thought, ‘I’ll do myself in a decade’, and that [body stocking] was the closest thing I had. And then someone said, ‘Will you take a picture with Justin Bieber,’ and I said, ‘Sure’, not knowing who he was,” she recently recalled to British talk-show host Graham Norton. “And then this child, who came up to here [my chest], and I felt like I should cover up before I take a picture with this baby.” Of course, Bieber wasn’t the only up-and-coming star Cher had the pleasure of meeting that night. She also had the honor of holding Lady Gaga’s meat purse when the latter singer took the stage to accept a Moonman in the now-infamous meat dress. “Well, I wear that every night in Las Vegas, so I just whipped it out,” Cher said recently to MTV News of her scanty VMA getup. “I didn’t have time to think of, like, getting a costume. So I had it and thought it would just be fun to just take off on myself, not knowing I was going to be handling the meat purse. “But, you know, there’s those moments you just remember [forever],” she added. ” ‘Here, Cher, will you hold my meat purse?’ ” Related Photos Justin Bieber’s VMA Night Behind The Scenes At The 2010 VMAs Related Artists Cher Justin Bieber

Another ‘Spider-Man’ Actor Injured On Broadway

Stunt double becomes the fourth castmember to be hurt during pre-production on the problem-plagued play. By Jayson Rodriguez “Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark” poster Photo: Marvel Maybe U2’s Bono and The Edge should have considered a theatrical production based on Superman (aka The Man of Steel) rather than Spider-Man. The musicians’ plagued play, “Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark,” suffered a new setback on Monday when another actor was injured and taken to the hospital, according to The New York Times . Overall, it’s the fourth castmember to be injured during pre-production. According to the New York Post , the injured actor is Christopher Tierney, a stunt double and aerialist, who was hurt when a cable he was attached to snapped during the final minutes of a preview performance. The Times reports that Tierney fell from a distance of approximately eight to 10 feet. “You heard screams,” an audience member told The Times . “You heard a woman screaming and sobbing.” The Post added that Tierney was admitted to New York’s Bellevue Hospital, and that he was listed in stable condition. Producers recently announced that the official opening of “Spider-Man” would be pushed back once again, this time until February 7, as the crew tinkers with creative changes. Last month, Bono and The Edge spoke to MTV News about the project. “It’s like a graphic novel, but a three-dimensional one,” Bono said of the show. “I’m calling it a pop-up, pop-art opera, because I’m pretentious.” The Edge added, “It is elements of rock and roll, it’s elements of circus, it’s elements of opera, of musical theater. It is so many different things, and when we started the process, we promised we’d do something that hasn’t been done before. And really, we, I think, have managed to do that.”

Bret Michaels Returns to the Stage, Teases American Idol Judging Gig

Just five weeks after suffering a brain hemorrhage, Bret Michaels returned to the stage last night in Biloxi, Mississippi. Incredibly, this event itself was NOT the most surprising development of the evening! But, first, a quick recap of the concert: Limping slighty, Bret told the 1,400-person crowd at the Hard Rock Casino:

Publicist Claims: Whitney Houston is Just Fine, Thanks

These days, Whitney Houston sounds like Britney Spears and looks like Courtney Love. We wish this singer the best, but watch her sing in Australia. She’s an absolute mess. But that’s actually not true, publicist Kristen Foster somehow claims. She told E! News yesterday: “Whitney is in great health and having a terrific time on her tour and with her fans. There were over 9,000 people at her show in Brisbane, and there were over 12,000 at Acer Arena last night in Sydney. Her fans were dancing and singing along with her and Whitney appreciates their support.” But with Whitney stopping mid-song to take water breaks, and actually having back-up singers hit the high notes on “I Will Always Love You,” many concert-goers have been anything but supportive. One audience member told Asiancorrespondent.com that Houston “couldn’t entertain a dead rat,” which may be our favorite quote of the decade. The Sydney Morning Herald tried to offer Whitney a few props, citing her “incoherence,” but saying those in attendance eventually “warmed to her.” Sadly, at this point in her once-incredible career, this passes for high praise for Houston.
