Britney Spears Has A History Of Song Leaks

The ‘Hold It Against Me’ demo making the rounds certainly isn’t Brit’s first leaked track! By Jocelyn Vena Britney Spears Photo: Eric Charbonneau/ Le Studio/ Wireimage On Thursday, a demo version of Britney Spears’ new single, “Hold It Against Me,” hit the Web. The track, which is set for official release on Tuesday, isn’t the first Britney song to leak before the singer was ready to share it for public consumption. Brit made headlines last year, when a leaked demo of her version of Gaga’s “Telephone” was made public. Producer Rodney Jerkins confirmed that the song was real, but that it was never intended for anyone outside of Brit’s camp to hear. That same year, previously unreleased songs like “When I Say So,” “Mad Love” and “Am I a Sinner” also hit the Web. In 2008, around the release of her comeback album Circus, snippets of the song’s lead single, “Womanizer,” were leaked by Nashville radio station 107.5 FM The River. The station quickly removed the audio from its website, but it was too late, and the song had already made its way around the Internet. Multiple Circus tracks also got some attention earlier than the singer had intended. “Circus” and “If You Seek Amy,” both of which would later become singles off the album, hit blogs weeks prior to the album’s December 2008 release. In August 2007, weeks before it was officially released, Blackout ‘s lead single, “Gimme More,” found its way online. Other songs recorded around that time also leaked, including “Everybody,” “Your…,” “What You Sippin’ On” and “Cold as Fire.” Does hearing Britney Spears’ leaked tracks make you less likely to buy them later, or more excited for their official release? Sound off in the comments. Related Artists Britney Spears

People’s Choice Awards Spiced Up By Katy Perry, ‘Twilight,’ Johnny Depp

Elton John, Natalie Portman, Taylor Swift bring star power to Queen Latifah-hosted event. By Mawuse Ziegbe Katy Perry onstage at the 2011 People’s Choice Awards Photo: Mark Sullivan/WireImage People choosing things is always a good reason to throw a huge party, right? At least that’s what the folks behind the 2011 People’s Choice Awards thought, so they tricked out this year’s trophy handout with a super starry lineup of celebs and a few fun performances. Host Queen Latifah kicked off the festivities with a huge musical number, barreling down the aisles of Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater in a black suit, big jewels and casual kicks, flanked by scores of dancers thrusting their fists in the air to Taio Cruz’s “Dynamite.” The Queen even got the audience to join in the fun, as the sea of celebs waved their hands in the air as the hip-hop legend-turned-Hollywood player rhymed over the peppy track. The performance set the tone for a night big on lighthearted appearances from entertainment A-listers. Jennifer Aniston handed out Favorite Comedic Star to funnyman Adam Sandler, who was also joined by David Spade and Rob Schneider to accept Favorite Comedy Movie for “Grown Ups.” “Black Swan” starlet Mila Kunis made her first awards-show appearance since her breakup with longtime beau Macaulay Culkin, chatting about having someone to always wake up to and keep her smiling before giving out the award for Favorite Talk Show Host to Conan O’Brien. “When you’re up for an award and you’re up against Oprah, you don’t want to win. It makes Oprah very unhappy,” the ginger-haired comic quipped about besting the TV titan before thanking fans for making 2010 “one of the best years of his life,” despite his late-night drama with NBC. One of the big star-power moments of the evening went down when pop legend Elton John strolled out to a standing ovation to present the award for Favorite Country Artist. Country princess Taylor Swift appeared genuinely awestruck when Sir Elton handed over the trophy, but remembered to congratulate the music luminary on becoming a new dad. “This award coming from you is such a showing of love,” Swift told her fans of the accolade. The newly single singer also thanked her adoring public for being people she “can count on.” Selena Gomez & the Scene hit the stage to perform their track “A Year Without Rain.” Gomez helmed the ballad in a flowing printed gown with a voluminous train and dangly hoop earrings as fog crept along the stage. The group wrapped up the performance with a special surprise when they were presented with the award for Favorite Breakout Artist. Latifah showed off her sassy wit throughout the night, often copping to going off script, like when the audio from her mic got spotty and she jokingly blasted producers by proclaiming, “I’m the host! You can’t cut me off!” Awards-show host extraordinaire Neil Patrick Harris — who later shouted out his new twins in baby-talk when he nabbed Favorite TV Comedy Actor — gave her an A+ for handling the technical glitch when she checked in with him about her hosting skills. “Glee” star Jane Lynch made a plea to keep music education in schools when she took home the trophy for Favorite TV Comedy Actress and a buzz-cut-sporting Zac Efron won Favorite Movie Star Under 25. Screen veteran Johnny Depp also made a rare awards-show appearance when he showed up to receive the award for Favorite Movie Actor. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star received a standing ovation when he took the stage, greeting presenter Taylor Swift (his daughter is a fan) and thanking the fans for the “stupefying honor.” Curvy reality sisters Kim, Kourtney and Khlo

Teen Mom Cover-Up: Gary Shirley Tells Girlfriend to Stay Mum on Amber Portwood Whomping

Yesterday we played a video of Amber Portwood’s baby daddy, Gary Shirley , laughing at and antagonizing the volatile, troubled Teen Mom star. Often seen as the victim of her attacks, this cast Gary in a different light. Now, the audio below poses additional questions about Gary’s role. On December 15, Shirley desperately tried to get his other chick, a frequent target of Amber’s threats , to cover up yet another beatdown. Gary admits that Amber “f**king hit me” and can clearly be heard telling his girl how to stonewall reporters who got wind of the altercation. In return for Ashley’s silence, Gary says, “Maybe one day we can start a family.” Isn’t that the mentality that

Did Britney Spears’ Camp Concoct Abuse Story?

Was last week’s tabloid report about Britney Spears being abused by her boyfriend a creation of someone in the star’s camp as a means of generating buzz? Probably not, but stranger things have happened. To be clear, we’re not saying Britney Spears or Jason Trawick was in on it, or that anyone was for that matter. But it’s a bit coincidental how it played out. The timing and details of this story? Awfully strange . Flash back to last week. Star reported that Britney phoned her ex, Jason Alexander, confessing that Trawick attacked her. Radar then posted the audio. Spears’ camp decried the rumor, analysts declared the tape bogus, and Brit Tweeted that everyone involved can “kiss my lily white southern Louisiana ass!” Then came this interesting Tweeted tidbit, too: “I’m almost done with my new album and it will be coming out this March. I AM IN L-O-V-E WITH IT!” While it seems crazy to think Britney Spears would need fabricated gossip to get people talking about her new release, this is manager Larry Rudolph’s M.O. The puppet master is famous for planting stories – typically about who Britney’s dating – and micromanaging all aspects of his client’s visibility and image. Can we see Rudolph, Alexander and Star all going in on this together, leaving Spears and Trawick in the dark? Absolutely … think about it, all parties win. Painting her as a sympathetic victim, then handing the floor over to Spears herself for a defiant denial and a casual announcement of the new record? Stranger things have happened, just saying.

Kyl Repeatedly Corrects Schieffer: No Tax ‘Cuts’ for Rich, Just Extending Existing Rates; Schieffer: ‘I Gotcha’

On Sunday’s Face the Nation, Republican Senate whip Jon Kyl kept correcting host Bob Schieffer about how extending tax “rates,” not “cuts,” is what is being debated, leading Schieffer to conceded “I gotcha” and even prompted Schieffer to let Kyl fill in for him the correct term. Schieffer: “Are the votes there now in the Senate, in your opinion, to extend these tax ah-“ Kyl: “Rates.” Schieffer had asked: “Is the Senate going to get down to business and resolve this whole business of the tax cuts?” Kyl chastised: “Nobody is talking about tax cuts. We're talking about extending the rates that have been in existence for the last decade.” Nonetheless, Schieffer stuck with his terminology: “Why is it so important to Republicans to extend the tax cuts for the upper-income people?” Democratic Senate whip Dick Durbin matched Schieffer’s framing: “I'm not voting for any permanent tax cut for the people of the highest income categories” and Kyl felt compelled to again correct Schieffer and Durbin: “First of all we're not talking about tax cuts.” Schieffer interjected “I gotcha” as Kyl continued: “We're talking about extending, for another period of time, the rates that have been in existence for the last decade.” read more

To Letterman’s Annoyance, His Mom Won’t Blame Global Warming for Warm Days in Indianapolis

As the long holiday weekend comes to an end, catching up with a humorous, seemingly spontaneous, moment on the last fresh Late Show before Thanksgiving. David Letterman is a big believer in cataclysmic predictions about global warming, but on Wednesday’s program his mom, Dorothy, rejected his proposition that global warming was to blame for some unseasonably warm days in Indianapolis — prompting her disappointed son to shake his head in disapproval. Dorothy, better known as “Dave’s mom,” appears annually from her kitchen in suburban Indianapolis to let her son guess the types of pies she’s baked for Thanksgiving. This year, the 89-year-old remarked “it's been unseasonably warm,” leading her son to assert “that's that climate change. It's the global warming . You know that, mom? Do you believe in the climate change, in the global warming?” To which, Dorothy Letterman innocently responded: “Not really.” read more

Jennifer Grey Reflects on "Unbelievable" Dancing With the Stars Win

After having four neck surgeries and waging a fight against cancer, Jennifer Grey “didn’t even think about winning” when Dancing With the Stars began. When she was handed the Mirror Ball trophy Tuesday, the health woes the 50-year-old battled made it even sweeter. “This is so unbelievable,” she said . “I feel so grateful, so blessed, that I had this opportunity. I don’t know that there’s any experience that will ever be anything like this again.” Jennifer Grey and Derek Hough are this season’s champions. Grey’s title was effectively sealed 10 minutes before the big reveal, when lightning rod finalist Bristol Palin was named the season’s third-place finisher. It came down to Jennifer and Kyle Massey, who she bested with two perfect scores Monday, and whose fan support wasn’t expected to match Bristol’s. After weeks of debate about Palin’s staying power thanks to an active fan base, in the end it was not quite enough to deny Jennifer what was hers. Kyle Massey and partner Lacey Schwimmer knew it too. “We didn’t think we’d make it past the first week, so to make it to the finals and to place second behind Jennifer and Derek, who got perfect scores , means we were pretty close to perfection,” Massey said after the show. “Jennifer deserved to win. America got it right.” With partner Hough’s help, Grey slowly made her way around the ballroom after the show to talk to the press with a ruptured disc in her lower back. She sustained that Monday, and in between performances last night, Grey was in pain. An ice pack was strategically tucked into her dancing pants. Grey credited her husband, actor Clark Gregg, and their 8-year-old daughter, Stella, for their undying support of her ballroom “immersion course.” “I’ve done nothing but sleep and take care of my injuries. They have been so amazing,” says Grey. “My husband has been taking care of everything and my daughter has become so much more self-sufficient. It’s been great for everyone.” “I found out my husband can cook!” Sounds like a win-win to us!
