Paige Thomas vs. Cece Frey: Who Won the Whitney-Off?

Ding! Ding! It is totally on between Paige Thomas and Cece Frey. At least The X Factor producers clearly want it to be. The show is making a rivalry out of these contrasting singers, Paige the reserved, sweet single mother and Cece, the cocky Illinois native with weird print on her face. Both took on “I Will Always Love You” during Boot Camp this week. But who did a better job with the classic track? Paige Thomas – “I Will Always Love You” Cece Frey – “I Will Always Love You” Do either Paige or Cece stack up to a pair of other early female favorites, Diamond White and Jennel Garcia ? Kate Gosselin Denies Reality TV Caused Jon Split, Says Marriage Sucked Anyway

Kate Gosselin doesn’t blame reality TV for her marriage collapsing. The mother of eight told Katie Couric that she and Jon Gosselin would’ve split up eventually, regardless of whether they signed on for TLC’s Jon & Kate Plus 8. “A lot of people try to pin reality TV and say, ‘My gosh. It ended in divorce. Big surprise.’ We went through a lot. The signs were always there,” Kate said on Katie . “Obviously having eight kids in a short span of time didn’t help that.” “I’m not at all blaming my kids, I’m just saying. The red flags were there. So looking back, had you never heard of Jon and Kate Gosselin , I’m certain I would be in that spot now.” “It’s hard because like any mom I just want the best for my kids.” Kate, 37, and Jon Gosselin, 35, finalized their divorce in December 2009 after ten years of marriage. Things have been combative, off and on, ever since. Most recently, he has been accused of stealing her hard drive and giving it to the author of a new tell-all book slamming Kate (the author denies Jon was involved). Jon & Kate Plus 8 feels like an eternity ago, but Kate says she’s open to the idea of returning to reality TV and dating – ideally both at the same time! “After a few years in realizing my barriers to dating and all of that and loving TV and the experiences … I just feel like honestly, yes, that was my idea,” she says. “I would do it (so) it could be watched by families and my children. I think that it would be fun because that would allow me to sort of meet people, have fun, show my fun side .” “I do have one. I’m not always barking orders!” Kate Gosselin: Would you date her?   Yes, look at that body! No, it’s Kate Gosselin! Maybe, if she never talks! View Poll »

Whitney Houston’s Death Now Part Of Beverly Hilton’s History

The hotel has been a celebrity hot spot ever since it opened in 1955, hosting scores of red-carpet events every year. By Kara Warner The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles Photo: Splash News Despite the fact that the Beverly Hilton is currently in the news for being the site of Whitney Houston’s tragic death , the historic hotel has been making headlines for 57 years — the vast majority of those being positive news stories — ever since its opening in 1955. The Who’s Who in Hollywood hot spot has played host to the most A-list guests and star-studded events for nearly six decades by holding more than 175 red-carpet events annually. The Hotel’s first major event was coincidentally the first-ever Grammy Awards in 1959. Best Female Vocalist Ella Fitzgerald took home two awards that year, along with Domenico Modugno, Henry Mancini, and Ross Bagdasarian (made famous by “The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don’t Be Late)”). In July 1960, then-presidential hopeful John F. Kennedy held a gala fundraiser for which his friend Frank Sinatra helped gather the “Jack Pack,” a group of celebs that included Milton Berle, Janet Leigh, Tony Curtis, Judy Garland and Mort Sahl. The Hilton was host to the first-ever Golden Globe Awards in 1961, where Stanley Kubrick’s “Spartacus” took home the top prize of Best Picture. The Globes returned to the hotel in 1971 and have not left. The annual event draws an international audience of millions, in addition to the ceremony itself, multiple viewing parties and afterparties, all staged at the Hilton. Other notable events include Richard Nixon’s so-called final press conference in 1962 following his loss to Pat Brown in the California gubernatorial election. The hotel hosted the one-time-only tribute to screen legend Cary Grant in 1988, which raised funds for Grace Kelley’s Princess Grace Foundation. In 2004, former First Lady Nancy Reagan made major news by speaking out against the Republican Party and publicly announcing her support for stem-cell research while being honored by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Also for the past thirty years, the Hilton has hosted the prestigious Oscars nominee luncheon. Share your condolences with Whitney’s family and friends on our Facebook page. ‘Hunger Games’ Film A ‘Very Faithful Adaptation’

Author Suzanne Collins even worked on the last draft of the script, director Gary Ross tells MTV News. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Jennifer Lawrence in the Girl on Fire costume in “Hunger Games” Photo: Lionsgate Thanks to a recent sit-down with charismatic director Gary Ross, we’ve gotten a great glimpse into what we can expect from the big-screen adaptation of Suzanne Collins’ dystopian bestseller when it hits theaters on March 23. When we asked Ross about his interaction with Collins, we were delighted to learn that he and the author had formed a close bond and ended up working on the script together and that Ross was completely impressed by the author’s talents as a screenwriter. “She wrote the last draft of the script with me,” Ross said. “We collaborated. We were in a room together! We locked ourselves up in a room and literally wrote the last draft of the script together. It was a blast. I hadn’t worked with anybody else as a team since Anne Spielberg on ‘Big,’ so just being in a room with someone was a phenomenal experience. Just having the electricity of two writers was great.” Ross went on to assure us and the millions of other “Hunger Games” fans that the movie version is as faithful as it could be, given the different parameters of the two mediums. “It’s very, very faithful in the literal sense, but it’s even more faithful in the tonal sense. My job is to give you that same visceral feeling you felt when you read the book,” Ross explained, adding that he wants audiences to experience the film from Katniss’ perspective. “[I want you] to feel that same kind of urgency, feel that same uncertainty she feels, to feel uncertain about Peeta’s motivations — that’s essential.” Finally, we asked Ross if we should prepare for any major deviations in the movie from the book, and he said there is nothing to prepare for in that sense. “Oh no. No, no, no. It’s a faithful adaptation. There are obviously differences, because I’m adapting a book to the screen, but no,” he said. “It’s not like Peeta leaves the story or anything like that.” Check out everything we’ve got on “The Hunger Games.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com .
