Toya Wright Explains Her Separation From Memphitz Toya Wright is finally confirming what’s been speculated for weeks; that her marriage to Memphitz is on the rocks . The ex-wife of Lil Wayne recently dished on her marital woes and gave her take on her hubby and his latest social media outbursts. Via NecoleBitchie: On the status of her and Memphtiz relationship and Why He’s Acting Out: The current status of me and my husband [is] we are separated at the moment. And, we’re just- everybody has their marital issues. And right now, you know, we’re separated. I mean, what is going on with my husband, like I said when I spoke on it, is it’s bigger than me. Micky has been going through something for the last few years since the whole lawsuit thing against his ex [K. Michelle] and Viacom and it really took a toll on him and it caused him to be a different person. So I think that, going through all of those things, and having all of that stress and the world looking at you one way as a “woman beater” and person that steals someone’s money, it’s hard for you to get back into your industry when you had a career and not a job and somebody defames your character. I mean, it’s a lot to deal with day to day. And I watched it. I went through it with him for three years. And I’ve been to counseling with him and you know all types of things or whatever so he can get back strong. It’s a lot for him, that’s on him and choosing to live our marriage publicly, everybody has an opinion, and when somebody has the bigger platform to share their story and the other person doesn’t, it kind of gets one sided. And for him- I always get upset when he reacts out of anger on social media because I know that’s not really him and it’s coming from a bitter, angry place because the world has turned him into that person. You know, constantly accusing him of doing this and doing that and he’s constantly struggling to get back to what he had. Toya also touched on how the possibility that he’s “fallen into her shadow” since their marriage: When I met him, he had a career. He was a self made guy with his own. And then to fall back into my shadow, and then to be known as a woman beater and a this and a that it’s kind of, a lot. It’s a lot to deal with. And I’m just praying for him and praying for our situation. I’m a person that is all about love and our family and I don’t like to give up. Especially being married two times. I don’t even like to go through the whole dating stage and all of that. I love my husband and I’m praying that we can get through this and he can get back right to the person that I met because he’s not the person that I met. This whole situation has changed him into someone else. In addition to dishing on their ongoing marital issues, Toya also revealed that they were at one point considered for “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta” and brought up K. Michelle’s abuse allegations. John Legend is on Team Kanye West. With many coming down hard on Kanye for his behavior at the Grammy Awards – during which he pretended to crash Beck’s acceptance speech for Album of the Year, prior to saying the artist didn’t deserve it – Legend has come to his pal’s defense. “I thought it was funny,” Legend told Us Weekly of West’s brief appearance on stage. “I looked at it as just a funny thing that people were going to talk about.” They definitely are talking about it. Garbage lead singer Shirley Manson says Kanye needs to grow up and stop acting like a “twat” with all of his rants against singers he doesn’t adore. “It didn’t hurt anybody,” Legend added. “Anybody who’s upset just needs to relax. It was funny.” Legend is also quick to say that he respects Beck and doesn’t necessarily agree that Beck didn’t deserve his Grammy. “Beck won his award fair and square. Beck is super talented and I have several of his albums and I’ve listened to him for a long time. I think people were surprised that he won but that doesn’t mean he’s not deserving, that just means people thought other people were going to win too.” Beyonce, specifically. West reacted in shock and anger that Beyonce did not take home Album of the Year. Beck nearly had his big night ruined at the Grammy Awards on Sunday. The artist stunned many in attendance when his name was called as the Album of the Year recipient, with Kanye West actually jumping on stage and nearly interrupting Beck’s acceptance speech, 2009 MTV Video Music Awards style. But, as you can see below, Kanye laughed and went back to his seat before things got too awkward. HOWEVER, West was dead serious in later railing against the Grammys, saying Beyonce deserved to win Album of the Year and even adding that Beck ought to give her his trophy. How does Beck feel about this criticism? Just fine, thanks! “I was just so excited he was coming up,” Beck told reporters of Kanye’s stage appearance. “He deserves to be on stage as much as anybody. How many great records has he put out in the last five years right? “You can’t please everybody, man. I still love him and think he’s genius. I aspire to do what he does.” But what about the concept that Beyonce deserves his Grammy Award? “Absolutely. I thought she was going to win. Come on, she’s Beyonce,” Beck replied. Taylor Swift had quite the night at the 2015 Grammy Awards . Not only did GIFs of Taylor dancing go viral, but she managed to avoid getting Kanye’d. (That was Beck’s honor this year.) All in all, a pretty good night for T-Swift. So how did she celebrate? By hanging with her besties and some cats, of course: Taylor Swift’s Post Grammy Plans Note the painful awkwardness of the moment that Nancy O’Dell says Swift will be hanging out with “lots of men” after the show. Taylor seems momentarily taken aback, but she recovers gracefully and informs O’Dell of how it’s really gonna go down: “I’m not gonna walk home with any men tonight,” Taylor quickly corrects the clueless ET host. “I’m gonna go hang out with my friends, and then I’m gonna go home and hang out with the cats.” It’s good to hear that Taylor isn’t shying away from the the title of World’s Most Fabulous Cat Lady, but she didn’t quite succeed in her goal of avoiding all forms of dude drama. Not only did her ex John Mayer provide one of the evening’s highlights when he took the stage with Ed Sheeran, but Taylor posed with Diplo in a selfie that seemed to suggest the beef between the two was – at least temporarily – squashed.
