If you are like me, you are a complete and utter sucker for 90′s nostalgia . So when TeenNick decided to bring back one of my favorite 90′s nostalgia shows, All That, you must have did the cabbage patch in your chair. There was only one problem, the reruns don’t show any of the dope performances that made the show so memorable! Mean curve… Continue
Black folks want reality show love too! Over the years, one of the most commonly asked questions about “ The Bachelor ” has been why are there not more African-American men and women on the show. If you believe a new lawsuit that has been filed, then the responsible parties may well be the people working behind the scenes at the popular reality show. Via TMZ reports : “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” are about to get a thorny rose — in the form of a lawsuit. We’re told the 2 plaintiffs — both African Americans — went to a Nashville hotel to audition for the role of bachelor. Christopher Johnson — an aspiring NFL player — claims when he arrived a producer asked him what he was doing there. Johnson and the other plaintiff, Nathaniel Claybrooks, both say they were taken to the side of the room and left out of the normal audition process. Neither was called back, and they believe it’s because of their race. They will be filing a class action lawsuit in federal court Wednesday AM. We’re told ABC, Warner Horizon Television, Next Entertainment, NZK Productions and creator Mike Fleiss, will all be sued. Lamar Hurd, a Portland sportscaster, is lobbying – and has already garnered great support – to become the first African-American star of ABC’s The Bachelor. According to his professional-looking audition video (below), Lamar’s assistant Tammy first came up with the idea to submit an application on his behalf. “Let’s say I wanted to go on it, and was willing to do it, they haven’t even had a black Bachelor,” Lamar said of his initial resistance to apply. But he did! Lamar Hurd For The Bachelor! If the video tells us anything, it’s that Lamar Hurd is clearly telegenic, comfortable on camera, humble and shirtless a lot. Really, how can he go wrong?! More importantly, he seems charismatic and charming, yet measured. Fun enough to lure viewers in, boring enough to be a non-polarizing blank slate. Plus, the racial element would be one heck of a hook for the new season. Lack of diversity is one of our top five complaints about the show (the other four being overuse of the word “journey”, lame metaphors equating bungee jumping to romance, cringe-worthy grammar, i.e. “Ben and I’s relationship”, and Courtney Robertson ). It’s unclear if ABC would go for a non-white Bachelor , since past runner-ups have been good for ratings, or what the racial makeup of young women would be. And is America even ready for the first minority Bachelor? Given that they’ve already had a cyborg on there twice ( Brad Womack ), we’d say yes. Please. Would you wanna see Lamar Hurd as The Bachelor?
It was date night for The Bachelor’s Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson last night. The two stepped out in L.A. at Svedka’s 2nd Annual Night of a Billion Reality Stars bash with fellow reality fixtures such as Jon Gosselin, Kyle Richards, Ali Fedotowsky, Teresa Giudice, Gretchen Rossi. Like a C-list Who’s Who right there. Clearly, after everything that’s gone down, Ben and Courtney were the center of attention. They said that’s starting to fade as they settle into normal life, however, and they really couldn’t be happier for their 15 minutes to fade away. “It’s getting close,” Flajnik said of returning to normalcy after the past year. “Now that the show’s over and the star’s fading … [it’s] wonderful for us.” “We’re getting there,” Courtney Robertson added. Although the couple have an army of skeptics, they say they’ve learned “lots” about each other since the end of the Bachelor’s filming and its aftermath. “The thing people don’t know is that when the show was airing we spent a lot of time together, and we were off almost every weekend,” Ben explained. “We got to know each other really well.” As for wedding plans? “No date set,” Robertson admitted. “We’re engaged, dating, taking it slow . We love each other very much. It took the pressure off. ” Mused Flajnik: “We kind of looked back at some of the other Bachelor relationships that didn’t work out and the reason for that is you have so much pressure.” “Pressure to move in together and set a date and all this kind of stuff … Let’s figure out who we are together before we do any of that and take the pressure off.” If they do tie the knot, it would be in “Arizona or California somewhere,” he said. Will it ever get to that point? Vote below : [Photos: Pacific Coast News]
Emily Maynard, the lovely, sweet, young mom who captured America’s and Brad Womack’s heart on The Bachelor last year, stars as The Bachelorette on May 14. Unfortunately (and obviously), her relationship with Brad ended, along with the dream of moving to Austin with her daughter, Ricki, and starting a family there. But when one door closes, another opens, and now that she’s the one doling out roles on ABC’s hit show, she’s ready to seek love she richly deserves yet again. Here’s the network’s first promo pic of the blonde beauty: It’s hard to meet men as a single mom … typically. Emily Maynard will have her pick of 25 when she gets a second opportunity as the eighth Bachelorette . Supposedly, there are some big changes this season. Namely, the show will relocate to her hometown of Charlotte, N.C., and producers won’t be casting huge d-bags simply to f–k with the star. Sorry about that, Ashley Hebert . Anyway, are you looking forward to the new season? Vote in our poll: Emily Maynard as The Bachelorette: Good choice?
The Bachelor’s Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson are now a happy and engaged couple, but that doesn’t mean cohabitation is in effect. At least not yet. Us Weekly (who broke the story of Ben kissing random girls, and who Flajnik calls “shady”) recently reported that he and Court were shacking up already . We thought that was probably too soon. Turns it so did they. A source tells E! News that Robertson ” hasn’t moved in , but they are spending more time together. She is gradually moving some stuff into his apartment.” “Still, they are content taking it slow at the moment.” Probably for the best. Love ’em or loathe ’em, the two have been through a lot, and need time to figure out if this is even going to work as a relationship. “She is now back at her L.A. home and they are planning to see each other again next week,” the source adds of L.A.-based model Courtney Robertson . “They are getting along really well, but she’s not willing to give up her L.A. home yet.” “It might be soon, though, but they want to just see how it goes and get used to settling into real life and spending a lot of time together first.” Fair. What do you think: Will this thing last?
Lindzi Cox acts like she got away with something. The Bachelor runner-up, who Ben Flajnik rejected in favor of MODEL Courtney Robertson on this month’s season finale, is all smiles these days, as if she dodged a bullet. When she departed, Lindz did so with an interesting parting shot, telling Ben that he could call her if (and when) everything unraveled with finacee Courtney. She meant it as a joke, though, and from the looks of it, she’s content to move on and forget, more or less, that anything ever happened with Ben. Lindzi Cox on Good Morning America Jilted as she may be, the Seattle resident who rode in on a horse has ridden off into the sunset on a high note, and is about as happy as a girl can be. No bad blood toward Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson , no ill will toward the show, no wondering what might have been … and no looking back. Safe to say Lindzi Cox is the real winner here?
After a controversial courtship, brief breakup and dubious reconciliation, The Bachelor stars Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson are still giving it a go. The California winemaker, 29, and the model, 28, are moving in together at the San Francisco pad Flajnik shares with two pals, according to Us Weekly . They’re in the process of looking for their own place now, but before they find that nest, the pair went on a sexy vacation to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico . During their five-day break, Courtney Robertson has been showing off her famous figure in a tiny bikini, her shaggy man dutifully by her side at the pool. Although Robertson has dealt with public disdain for her very, very bad behavior on The Bachelor, “she wants to save this relationship,” a source tells Us . Prior to the trip, an onlooker at San Francisco’s Park Tavern observed the engaged pair looking “very snuggly… Ben had his arm around her the entire time.” Robertson is still wearing her 3-carat Neil Lane ring from Chris Harrison Ben, FYI. If they’re going to crash and burn, they’re giving it their best shot first. What do you think: Any way this is gonna work? [Photos: Fame/Flynet]
Nicki Minaj was ranked number-15 on Forbes ‘ Hip-Hop Cash Kings chart for 2011, pulling in $6.5 million and establishing herself as one of rap’s top earners. But we have a feeling that figure will go up considerably in 2012. The artist has signed on to become the new Pepsi spokesperson for an upcoming beverage that company will roll out in the near future, according to Derek Jackson, the man who brokered the deal. “You’ll see the commercial probably in the next two months,” Jackson told Forbes this week. “That’ll be a segue into a new beverage Pepsi has, called ‘Pop,’ and she’ll be the face of the brand… it’s going to be explosive.” The agreement is said to pay Minaj somewhere in the seven figure range. The Bachelor star Ben Flajnik is further elaborating on the controversial photos that show him apparently hooking up with other women during his recent split from Courtney Robertson. His explanation? A little dubious, at best. Of the image that shows him clearly grabbing a female’s rear end and kissing her , he says it was an old friend – and just a friendly butt pat, not a full-on, “I am attracted to you in a sexual manner” style arse grab. Mmmyeah. The curvature of his hand does not suggest patting, but whatever: “I have not hooked up with another woman – on my father’s grave. Those women they mentioned are my friends in San Francisco,” Ben Flajnik said on a conference call with reporters after The Bachelor season finale. “But, Ben, there are photos of you clearly kissing someone and grabbing her rear,” People ‘s Monica Rizzo replied, to her credit. “If you look at the pictures, I’m not kissing her. And that’s a butt pat. My friends grab my butt. I’m physical and affectionate with friends – guys and girls,” he insisted. Again, look at the image above and decide for yourself. “Maybe you just needed to let your hair down.
