Via Page Six reports : Jay-z and Beyoncé missed the Oscars, and instead had dinner with Sarah Jessica Parker in New York on Sunday night. The music power couple joined the “Sex and the City” star and five others for a long meal at Freemans on the Lower East Side. “They completely blew off the Oscars,” said a source, adding, “They didn’t even have it on a TV screen. They were there until well after 1 a.m. with their friends, laughing and eating.” Bey’s sister Solange, however, was seen partying at Vanity Fair’s LA bash. All this sounds very innocuous until you put in perspective that both Sarah Jessica Parker and Beyoncé have produced major TV projects for HBO — leading us to wonder if there is some kind of fashionista-related Hollyweird plot being put together for a project that will involve them both. Denver Nuggets Forward Kenneth Faried Joins Athlete Ally Gay Advocacy Group Via HuffingtonPost Denver Nuggets star Kenneth Faried has become the first NBA player to join an organization devoted to fighting homophobia in sports, and said he hopes his involvement will raise awareness of gay rights in professional basketball. Equal rights for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender community is close to the heart of Faried, nicknamed the “Manimal” for his fierceness on the court. The 23-year-old forward was raised in New Jersey by two mothers, who married in 2007. Faried recently appeared with his mothers in a video for the advocacy group OneColorado, to encourage Colorado to legalize civil unions. “Becoming an Athlete Ally gives me the opportunity to spread a message of inclusiveness throughout the NBA and our country,” said Faried in a statement to The Huffington Post, referring to the non-profit group that advocates for gay rights in sports. “I have two moms and I love them both very much. I respect, honor and support them in every way. The bond I have with them has made me realize that I want all members of the LGBT community — whether they are parents, players, coaches or fans — to feel welcome in the NBA and in all of our communities.” As a member of Athlete Ally, Faried joins Brendon Ayanbadejo of the Baltimore Ravens, Chris Kluwe of the Minnesota Vikings, Scott Fujita of the Cleveland Browns, Connor Barwin of the Houston Texans, as well as professional international sports stars and college players. “In the last month, we have seen seven professional athletes around the world align with Athlete Ally,” said Hudson Taylor, executive director of Athlete Ally and a wrestling coach at Columbia University. “Kenneth is standing out not only as an incredible talent, but as an incredible ally. Chicago Lawyer Convicted Of Murdering Eddy Curry’s Girlfriend And 10-Month-Old Daughter Via NYPost A jury has convicted a Chicago attorney of murdering former NBA center Eddy Curry’s ex-girlfriend and infant daughter four years ago. Fredrick Goings showed no reaction when the jury’s guilty verdict was read Tuesday in the January 2009 shooting deaths of 24-year-old Nova Henry and her and Curry’s 10-month-old daughter, Ava. Goings represented Henry in a child custody case against the former Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks and Miami Heat center, and was also romantically involved with her. Prosecutors say Henry tried to end her relationship with Goings and moved out with her and Curry’s two children. They say Goings shot Henry in her home while she was holding the infant. Her and Curry’s son, who was then 3 years old, was also in the home but wasn’t harmed. Curry, who now plays in China, didn’t testify. Says Nova’s mother, Yolan Henry: “I’m feeling elated. I can breathe,” she said. “I feel justice has been served.” Yolan Henry testified that she found her surviving grandson, Noah, with the bodies of his sister and mother, and that he told her, “Fredrick did it.” It’s good to see the system benefit those who deserve justice and punish a$$holes that kill babies.
