The Money Team is back together! Floyd Mayweather Released From Jail After Serve Two Months Floyd Mayweather was released from a Las Vegas jail early Friday after serving two months of a three-month sentence in a misdemeanor domestic battery case. The undefeated boxer walked out of the Clark County Detention Center beneath the glow of street lamps and glare of TV cameras to resume a boxing career that his lawyers and personal physician warned in court documents might be at risk. They said jail food and water didn’t meet Mayweather’s dietary needs, and lack of exercise space in a cramped cell of fewer than 98 square feet threatened his health and fitness. Mayweather looked fit as he donned a leather Miami Heat cap, pulled a gray hooded sweatshirt over his head and shared hugs with about 20 family members and friends, including his 12-year-old daughter, Iyanna Mayweather, and his manager, Leonard Ellerbe. He said nothing to the media as he got behind the wheel of a blue Bentley sedan with several friends inside, including rapper 50 Cent, and drove away. Floyd missed a lot while he was on his lil’ “vacation”. With no television in his solo cell, he couldn’t see arch rival Manny Pacquiao lose his WBO welterweight title June 9 to Timothy Bradley. Mayweather, who goes by the nickname “Money,” wasn’t around to celebrate last month when Forbes magazine named him the world’s highest-paid athlete for 2011. He wasn’t able to attend the ESPN network ESPY awards to accept the best fighter award. And he missed fiancee Shantel Jackson’s private birthday bash last week at a Las Vegas steakhouse with friends, including 50 Cent. Las Vegas Review-Journal celebrity columnist Norm Clark noted that Mayweather sent diamonds. That’s how you know you’re balling out of control, when you can send diamonds to your lady from prison. Welcome home Champ, now stop beating women SMFH… Source
Founder and CEO Of Amazon.com Gives $2.5M Donation For Same-Sex Marriage While it’s safe to say most Americans have received a gift from Amazon.com at some point, Washington United for Marriage got a whopper. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his wife, MacKenzie Bezos, made a $2.5 million donation to the advocacy coalition, which supports same-sex marriage in the state of Washington. The donation, which campaign manager Zach Silk called “extraordinary” in a statement, roughly doubles WUM’s budget. State lawmakers approved, and Governor Christine Gregoire signed, a same-sex marriage bill in February. Referendum 74 was brought by an opposing group, Preserve Marriage Washington, to put the issue to voters in November. It is campaigning for “no” votes on the referendum. The Bezos’ donation is believed to be the largest from an individual in support of same-sex marriage, according to WUM. In total, it said it had raised more than $5 million in support of its campaign urging voters to check “yes” on the referendum in November and legalize same-sex marriage. If the referendum is passed, Washington will be the seventh state to legalize same-sex marriage, although the only one to do so via the ballot box. Source
Jay-Z Says Critics Couldn’t Walk In His Daughter’s Socks The Jiggaman isn’t sparing his lil princess Blue Ivy from being spoiled in the least and he’s letting the whole world know it in song: She’s only six months old, but Jay-Z guarantees that Blue Ivy Carter’s footwear collection is already more impressive than yours. That’s the message behind the proud papa’s latest guest verse on “3 Kings,” Rick Ross’ new single off his upcoming God Forgives I Don’t. (Dr. Dre is also featured on the track.) Boasting about the “millions” hanging on his walls (in the form of Basquiat paintings), Jay raps that his critics “couldn’t f— with my daughter’s room” — or “walk in my daughter’s socks,” for that matter. Since Blue Ivy’s January 7 birth, Jay-Z, his wife Beyonce, and their friends and family have gone all out to make sure their bundle of joy has the very best clothes, furniture, and accessories. In March, the tot was spotted rocking $66 Little Marc Jacobs Baby Mouse slippers during an outing with her mom; she also reportedly naps in a $3,500 lucite crib from NurseryWorks VETRO. In May, Jay (real name: Shawn Carter) opened up during a sit-down with Oprah Winfrey about his parenting philosophy. “Well, I mean, everyone imagines they’ll be a great dad,” he admitted. “Until they’re teenagers saying, ‘Get away from me, Dad. You’re embarrassing me!’ Right? Everyone imagines that, right?” Continued the Brooklyn, NY native, “I imagine I’ll take things I learned from my mom and things I’ve learned from raising my nephews and apply that,” he explained, adding with a laugh: “Then at the end of the day, I just know I’ll probably have the worst, spoiled little kid ever.” And the irony of all this is… last time we saw Hov toting Blue Ivy she wasn’t wearing any footwear — socks or otherwise! But it’s cool, we get it. She’s rich beyond our wildest dreams. Sheeeeeit. PacificCoastNews Source

Yesterday, we brought you the top 15 highest-earning American athletes, but there are still a few of our favorite ballers worth mentioning. Sports Illustrated Top 50 Highest Paid American Athletes Honorable Mentions This year’s list is unique for a couple more reasons. NBA players, who have historically claimed more spots in the Fortunate 50 than any other group, had their salaries slashed by nearly 20 percent this season because of the 66-game schedule brought on by the lockout of 2011. Our findings consisted solely of salary, winnings, bonuses, endorsements and appearance fees. We consulted players’ associations, tour records, agents and news reports. Our endorsement estimates for 2012 came from Burns Entertainment & Sports Marketing, other sports-marketing executives and analysts, and agents. Salary figures were based on current or most recently completed seasons (July 1 for the NFL, which is why Drew Brees, who just signed a $100 million deal last Friday, isn’t on the list). For winnings-based sports (auto racing, golf, tennis), we used the 2011 calendar year. Boxing purses are from June 2011 through May 2012. Candidates for the U.S. 50 had to be American citizens and currently active in their sports. It’s not as those athletes that didn’t make the top 15 are hurtin’ for a buck. FDA Approves First Drug Proven To Reduce The Risk Of HIV Infection A breakthrough in the fight against HIV was announced earlier today. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Monday approved the first drug shown to reduce the risk of HIV infection, a milestone in the 30-year battle against the virus that causes AIDS. The agency approved Gilead Sciences’ pill Truvada as a preventive measure for people who are at high risk of acquiring HIV through sexual activity, such as those who have HIV-infected partners. Public health advocates say the approval could help slow the spread of HIV, which has held steady at about 50,000 new infections per year for the last 15 years. An estimated 1.2 million Americans have HIV, which develops into AIDS unless treated with antiviral drugs. With an estimated 240,000 HIV carriers unaware of their status, doctors and patients say new methods are needed to fight the spread of the virus. Gilead Sciences Inc. has marketed Truvada since 2004 as a treatment for people who are already infected with the virus. But starting in 2010, studies showed that the drug could actually prevent people from contracting HIV when used as a precautionary measure. A three-year study found that daily doses cut the risk of infection in healthy gay and bisexual men by 42 percent, when accompanied by condoms and counseling. Last year another study found that Truvada reduced infection by 75 percent in heterosexual couples in which one partner was infected with HIV and the other was not. Awesome news! Source
