Go Fight Win Lose! Baltimore Ravens Cheerleader Says Was Booted From The Super Bowl Squad Because She Gained Weight

Baltimore Ravens Cheerleader Claims She Was Cut For Gaining Weight Is it us or is it getting more and more difficult to focus on the actual reason for the Super Bowl with all this other ridiculousness taking precedence over the actual game? Keeping with the theme of all things non-football that seems to be surrounding Sunday’s big game, a Baltimore Raves cheerleader who was booted from the squad that will be cheering on their Bmore ballers as they take on the 49ers later this weekend says she was kicked to the curb for weighing too much……at a whopping 124 pounds. via L.A. Times Baltimore Ravens cheerleader Courtney Lenz, 23, says she has been barred from the Super Bowl because she weighs too much. Lenz made the comments during an interview on “Access Hollywood” on Wednesday evening. “They said that I had quote, unquote, a rough year,” Lenz said. “I’d been benched earlier in the season for a little bit of a weight gain. We do get weighed every week during the season, and you can’t fluctuate at all. I gained, I think it was 1.8 pounds. I had been consistent and they let me cheer previously and then I gained 1.8 or 1.6 pounds and they said because I had gained weight and they wanted me to be consistent or they wanted me to lose, they benched me for a game and because it was a disciplinary action, that was the reason.” Lenz went on to say that she weighs 124 pounds. “During the season, I was 124. That was consistently, they wanted me to get back down to 121, 120, which is what I was at when I was 18, 19, when I started on the team,” she said. “That was the only disciplinary action I had during the year. I got benched because of my weight, and they said that was the reason. Anybody that had disciplinary action taken during the season was automatically disqualified [from the Super Bowl]. However, there are some girls on the team that were also benched for their weight, and are going. So they just aren’t consistent, it isn’t fair. That’s why I brought this to the attention of the fans because what they’re doing is not right.” Lenz has been a Ravens cheerleader for five years. Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens management stands by their reasoning that only 32 cheerleaders total are permitted to attend the Superbowl and Courtney just didn’t make the cut, which was made based on “seniority, performance ability and personal conduct throughout the season.” And yes. You read that right. She gained 1.8 pounds. SMH. Photo Credit: Baltimore Sun

Earl Weaver Dies; Hall of Fame Manager was 82

Earl Weaver, the legendary ex-manager of the Baltimore Orioles, passed away early this morning on a cruise in the Caribbean. He was 82 years old. A Hall of Famer, Weaver won 1,480 games and was well-known for both his temper and his penchant for the three-run homer. He collapsed with his wife, Maryanne, by his side and never regained consciousness, according to The New York Daily News . Said Orioles owner Peter Angelos in a statement: “Weaver stands alone as the greatest manager in the history of the Orioles organization and one of the greatest in the history of baseball.” Weaver took the team to four World Series and won the 1970 title. “This is a sad day for everyone who knew him and for all Orioles fans,” Angeles said. “Earl made his passion for the Orioles known both on and off the field. On behalf of the Orioles, I extend my condolences to his wife, Marianna, and to his family.”

Gay: MLB Baller Says Having An Openly Same Sex Lovin’ Teammate Would Be Difficult And Uncomfortable, But Other Athletes Disagree

Are Professional Team Sports Too Intolerant To Accept Openly Gay Players In 2013, will professional team sports see the very first openly gay athlete? We have to ask, especially after reading an insightful piece in the Los Angeles Times about homophobia in professional sports. Here’s an excerpt: About 4,000 players spent time on active rosters in the NBA, NHL, NFL and Major League Baseball in 2012. With the best estimates of the gay population in U.S. ranging from 2% to 10%, it’s likely many of those 4,000 athletes are gay. Yet not one has come out of the closet. Not this year, not last year, not ever. There are openly gay congressmen and two senators-elect. There has been a gay governor and a cable TV network anchor. Just never an openly gay shortstop, quarterback or power forward. And changing that would require more than simply challenging convention. It could require a player to challenge his teammates as well. “It’s still taboo in the locker room,” explains the Clippers’ Grant Hill. Like in the New England Patriots’ locker room. Earlier this season linebacker Brandon Spikes sent out a tweet claiming to be homophobic “just like I’m arachnophobic. I have nothing against ho*****uals or spiders but I’d still scream if I found one in my bathtub.” Spikes later said he was joking. But former Angels outfielder Torii Hunter, among baseball’s most thoughtful and intelligent players, isn’t kidding when he says an “out” teammate could divide a team. “For me, as a Christian … I will be uncomfortable because in all my teachings and all my learning, biblically, it’s not right,” he says. “It will be difficult and uncomfortable.” David Kopay (Redskins running back), Billy Bean (Dodgers and Padres outfielder) and John Amaechi (NBA center-forward) are gay athletes who waited, like former NFL’er Wade Davis, to come out after their playing careers ended. Yet an active player coming out may be inevitable. In the last six months Puerto Rican boxer Orlando Cruz, a featherweight contender, and Kevin McClatchy, former owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates, revealed they were homosexual. And hyper-masculine males such as Brendon Ayanbadejo of the Baltimore Ravens, Scott Fujita of the Cleveland Browns and Chris Kluwe of the Minnesota Vikings — all of whom are straight — have become impassioned spokesmen for same-sex marriage. Then there’s NBA Commissioner David Stern, who last year said it’s no longer a matter of “if” but “when” basketball welcomes its first openly gay player. “It will happen,” he said. “I have no doubt about it.” And talk like that, insists a cross section of professional athletes, former athletes, scouts and team executives, is laying the groundwork for a new locker room culture that will be more welcoming for gays. The views of older players, they say, are at odds with younger players, such as 26-year running back Arian Foster of the Houston Texans who, when asked this month about a gay player being in the NFL, told TV’s Jim Rome “People are more accepting of it…. I don’t think it will be long.” As older players retire and younger ones take their place, attitudes in professional sports are bound to change. That generation gap in social thinking mirrors public opinion polls on gay marriage, with a CBS News poll released last month showing the greatest support — 72% — among Americans ages 18 to 29. But journalist Cyd Zeigler, co-founder of the gay sports website Outsports.com, says something else may be at work. Zeigler interviewed more than two dozen current and former NFL players — including Redskins rookie Robert Griffin III, New England tight end Rob Gronkowski and Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, plus retired Pro Bowlers Jevon Kearse, Ahman Green and Eddie George — over the last seven months and found just one who said he would be uncomfortable with a gay teammate. “When I talk to these guys, the majority of them have a gay family member. And all of them know at least one gay person,” Zeigler says. Griffin had a gay teammate in high school, for example, Green has a gay brother and lesbian sister and Hasselbeck insists he must have played with at least one closeted teammate during his NFL career. Do you think that knowing someone gay makes people more tolerant of homosexuality or has it just become more acceptable thanks to public awareness about marriage equality and other issues? Which pro team sport do you think will have the first openly gay player? Any ideas about who the player may be? Photo Credit: John Loomis/WENN

Real Housewives of New Jersey Bring Feud to The View, Conduct Separate Interviews

Teresa Giudice, Melissa Gorga and Kathy Wakile of The Real Housewives of New Jersey appeared on The View yesterday. But the castmates did not do so as a group. Due to what she referred to as “family issues,” Giudice refused to conduct her interview alongside Gorgoa and Wakile, telling the co-hosts: “We have family issues that we need to resolve and I didn’t think that today was the appropriate time, you know, in front of an audience and it to be done in just a few minutes.” We gotta give props to the Bravo producers for staging this controversy and finding a way to extend the feud beyond their show. And negative props to The View for allowing itself to be used in such a manner. Meanwhile, an insider tells The New York Daily News that Gorga “flipped out” when she learned Giudice would not be on stage with her, supposedly telling someone over her cell phone “Our plan is ruined… we have to come up with another way to take her down.” From where does this rivalry stem? The show’s scripts, of course. But specifically from Giudice saying Gorga was a “gold digger” and would leave her husband for a richer man. Teresa has since apologized for those remarks… on the cover of a supermarket tabloid . Clarifies a spokesperson for Gorga (yes, Melissa Gorga has a spokesperson): “Any insinuation that

David McCullough High School Commencement Speech: You Are Not Special!

This is pretty great. In a commencement speech to Wellesley High School seniors this week, teacher David McCullough Jr. delivered a highly unusual message for such an occasion. Simply put, he told the class before him: you are not special. Said the son of a Pulitzer Prize-winning historian: “Think about this: even if you’re one in a million, on a planet of 6.8 billion that means there are nearly 7,000 people just like you.” David McCullough Jr. Commencement Speech What was McCullough’s point? That accolades have come to mean more than “genuine achievement.” As a consequence, he said: “We cheapen worthy endeavors, and building a Guatemalan medical clinic becomes more about the application to Bowdoin than the well-being of the Guatemalans.” He concludes by emphasizing “selflessness,” which can only be achieved by one realizing this overarching theme, reiterated here again: no one is special . Along the way, McCullough manages to bash Donald Trump , Barney, the Baltimore Orioles, Mr. Rogers and the narcissistic Twitterverse. Even more impressive? The speech was met with rave reviews from those in attendance. “For once someone told us what we need to hear and not necessarily what we wanted to hear,” said one student. Watch the speech above and react below: What do you think?

Los Looking For Diddy To ‘Amplify’ His Career

‘Now it’s officially time to move forward,’ Baltimore MC tells MTV News of getting to work with Bad Boy Records. By Rob Markman Los Photo: MTV News Los had no idea that Diddy would be announcing his signing to Bad Boy with MTV News at the top of the month, but now that the cat is out of the bag, the Baltimore, Maryland, rap stand-out is excited to get to work. “He didn’t tell me that he was gonna say it. I think that he was just in the moment and he was just goin’ and it just kinda came out,” Los told MTV News on Tuesday. “I got the news at the same time other people got the news.” The The Crown Ain’t Safe MC officially signed his deal with Diddy’s storied label at the end of last year, but they had decided to save the announcement. The news broke a little earlier than Los expected, but he is hyped up nonetheless. “I was just excited about it. I was like, ‘Now it’s officially time to move forward, let’s get everything goin’,’ because we had been keeping low for a minute,” he said. This isn’t Los’ first go-round with Bad Boy, however. He auditioned for Puff’s “Making the Band 2” in 2002 and made it to the end of the competition, but wasn’t a part of the manufactured Da Band because he wouldn’t sign the necessary waivers. The truth is, Los wasn’t interested in being a part of a group, but he would go on to sign a solo deal with Diddy around 2005. The original Bad Boy deal went through a local independent label that Los was signed to, but after the owners of the label went through some legal trouble, Los was released from Bad Boy in 2008. Still, he and Combs maintained a connection. “He called me every day, every night; he called me,” Los said. “Man this guy don’t sleep; he would call me 2 in the morning, then text me 3 in the morning, text me 4, 5. I’m like, ‘Yo when is he getting rest?’ ” Diddy’s texts would pretty much mirror the motivational tweets he’s known to send. In the middle of the night, Los we get random messages like “Let’s make history” and “Let’s go!” It was that type of energy that the young MC craved. Eventually he decided that he would once again sign with Bad Boy. “It just reminded me of his brand and what it represents: no sleep, hard work, history, success,” Los said of the work ethic that has become synonymous with all things Diddy. “I decided to bring back to Puff, and I felt like no one could amplify my situation as much as he could anyway.” What do you think of Los’ decision to re-sign with Bad Boy? Is This Lil Kim’s Ghostwriter Contract? [PHOTOS]

Original post:

Last week, Charlie Baltimore did an interview on Shade 45  where she maintained she writes all of her rhymes. In another part of the interview, Baltimore threw Lil Kim under the bus by saying she didn’t write her own  raps. A former member of the Queen Bee’s entourage is now claiming he is Lil Kim’s ghostwriter. Antonio Walker has come out in support of Baltimore’s claims. Walker recently posted pictures of a contract allegedly drawn up between Queen Bee Entertainment and himself. Walker says he penned a number of Kim’s biggest hits. Walker decided to come forward with his story after having not been paid for any of his contributions. There was a song on Lil Kim’s 2005 album, The Naked Truth , which addressed rumors she didn’t write her own material. The name of the track was “Shut Up B***h.” Kim probably is screaming that to Antonio Walker right now. What are your thoughts on the situation? President Obama Sings "Let’s Stay Together" For Al Green

President Barack Obama is probably not going to quit his day job (at least not for another year), but he did make a brief foray into R&B at a fundraiser last night. The Commander-in-Chief burst into song while thanking Al Green, who had performed earlier at the same event, crooning a bar from “Let’s Stay Together” Obama then joked he hadn’t been ushered off-stage. Watch: Obama Sings Al Green It all happened at Manhattan’s Apollo Theater late Thursday, when Obama stepped to the podium and veered from prepared remarks to thank Green. Apparently not content to simply praise Green, Obama launched into “Let’s Stay Together,” warbling “I, so in love with you” … complete with vibrato. He stopped to laughter and applause, remarked that his staff didn’t believe he’d do it, and that the Sandman hadn’t come out to yank him outta there. That would be Sandman Sims, a famous tap dancer who chased unpopular acts off-stage at the Apollo for decades. Sort of a Keyboard Cat predecessor.
