A “Lil Positivity” Barry-O To Speak At Rosa Parks Statue Unveiling At U.S. Capitol Next Week

Ahhh-haaa hush that fuss, even Barry-O spent time in the back of the bus… President Obama To Speak At Rosa Parks Statue Unveiling Via Yahoo! President Barack Obama will join Democratic and Republican congressional leaders next week for the ceremony to unveil a statue of civil rights icon Rosa Parks at the U.S. Capitol—the first statue of an African-American woman in the halls of Congress. In 1955, Parks, a Montgomery, Ala., seamstress, refused to give up her seat on a public bus to a white man. She was convicted of violating the state’s segregation laws, and her legal battle ultimately reached the U.S. Supreme Court, which ruled the bus segregation law unconstitutional. In April 2012, Obama visited the Henry Ford Museum after a campaign rally in Dearborn, Mich. Official White House photographer Pete Souza snapped a picture of the president sitting on the Rosa Parks bus. Republican House Speaker John Boehner and Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid invited Obama to attend the unveiling. “We will come together to celebrate the life and legacy of Mrs. Parks, whose statue will be the first of an African-American woman in the Capitol,” the lawmakers wrote in a letter to Obama. “This is a national statue and this ceremony will be a national moment, an occasion to recount a watershed event in our history and reaffirm our capacity to confront injustice and lift each other up.” True dat. You know Barry is gonna SLAY his speech, the whole place will probably be in tears. Image via tumblr

President Obama’s State Of The Union Address Calls For Rise Of Middle Class And A Gun Control Vote

SMH @ hatin’ a$$ House Speaker John Boehner in the background. Via CNN reports : President Barack Obama challenged Congress to join him in taking on “our generation’s task” to ignite the growth of a “rising, thriving middle class,” using the first State of the Union speech of his second term to prod Republicans to compromise on the major challenges facing the nation. “It is our unfinished task to restore the basic bargain that built this country — the idea that if you work hard and meet your responsibilities, you can get ahead, no matter where you come from, what you look like, or who you love,” Obama said Tuesday night, sounding familiar themes from his re-election campaign last year. The president emphasized economic growth and job creation, and insisted that his proposals would not increase the nation’s federal deficit. He also made an emotional plea for Congress to hold votes on controversial proposals for tougher gun laws after the Newtown, Connecticut, shootings in December that killed 20 schoolchildren. At the same time, Obama called for legislators to work together for the good of the nation, saying Americans “expect us to put the nation’s interests before party.” “They do expect us to forge reasonable compromise where we can,” he said. “For they know that America moves forward only when we do so together, and that the responsibility of improving this union remains the task of us all.” It was his fourth State of the Union address and seventh speech to a joint sitting of Congress, and analysts considered it a crucial moment for setting the tone for the political dialogue after four years of partisan division and congressional dysfunction. With the government facing deep spending cuts mandated by a previous agreement between Obama and Congress to raise the federal debt ceiling, Obama renewed his call for a comprehensive deficit-reduction plan that includes new tax revenue coupled with spending cuts. President Obama also called for the Federal minimum wage to be raised to $9.00, citing statistics which show that even in homes where two family members work full-time entry level jobs, they are unable to live above the poverty line. He also spoke strongly about the need to keep the world safe from nuclear weapons, directly addressing concerns about Iran and North Korean nuclear programs, as well as the U.S./Soviet programs. Did you watch the President’s speech? Conservatives are already attacking him, saying that his approach represents big government that will only deepen the economic crisis in the U.S. What do you think? AP

Fair And Balanced: Fox News Journalist Juan Williams Asks When The Media Will Call Attention To Blatantly “Racist Political Thinking In Politics?”

Fox News Journalist Slams Media For Not Addressing Racism In Politics Fox News journalist and former NPR employee Juan Williams recently took the time to do something we rarely see done on the often one-sided network: speak out against racism in politics . Williams held nothing back in a recent piece putting the media on blast for overly vilifying black Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas after he recently made a joke to his colleagues in court, while over looking the far more blatantly racist actions of other politicians on a regular basis. via Fox News Last week during an oral argument, Justice Thomas appeared to make a joke to his fellow members of the Supreme Court. His words were not completely audible to the people in the court. When it was noted that the defendant’s counsel went to Yale, Thomas’s alma mater, Justice Thomas apparently said something to this effect: If the defendant’s lawyer was a Yale Law graduate maybe he didn’t have adequate counsel. Ha! Ha! The idea that black people – liberal or conservative – are not allowed to speak out as independent thinkers is apparently a truth for a lot of liberals and conservatives. Blacks are supposed to stay in neatly defined political boxes. However, as the never-ending assault on Justice Thomas’s integrity shows, the deepest vein of intolerance is to be found on the Left for minority conservatives. Isn’t about time for someone in the mainstream media called out the haters and the race hustlers? Williams then went on to assert that black people were singled out for voting President Obama into office in overwhelming numbers, while little attention was given to the fact that a large majority of white people also voted against President Obama. He then shared his own personal struggles with being a black conservative. The fact is that despite the caricatures of black political thought there is a wide variety of opinion among blacks just as there is among whites, Hispanics and Asians. Yes, it is true that more than 90 percent of black Americans voted for President Obama. It is also true that close to 60 percent of white voted against President Obama. But that is not reflective of the variety of political views of black or white Americans. When I ask why civil rights leaders fail to take on gangster rappers who glamorize violence I was labeled as ‘Not-Authentically-Black.’ As one NPR executive put it to me – just before I was fired from NPR – the old guard of white liberals at NPR did not appreciate a black man with conservative social views and some conservative friends. When will the mainstream media call attention to this type of ‘intolerance’ that is absolutely racist thinking at its worst? Williams points out what so many people have been questioning throughout much of Obama’s presidency, and before. Racism in politics alive and well…..and the call for attention to this topic is long over due.

However, grieving residents, friends and family of Hadiya are now pushing for President Obama to take it a step further by paying his respects to her in person at her funeral on February 9. via Loop 21 What happened to Hadiya Pendleton, a 15-year-old Chicago teen, was horrible. While taking cover from the rain, the young girl, who performed with her high school drill team at the Inauguration of President Barack Obama, was gunned down in what seems to be random gunfire. The White House acknowledged her death Wednesday. “The president and first lady’s thoughts and prayers are with the family of Hadiya Pendleton,” White house spokesman Jay Carney said. But the people want more. A petition was created, urging the president to honor the brief life of the girl and attend her funeral. Hi Hater: Paul “Lyin” Ryan Says Hillary Clinton Would Have Been A Better President Than Barack Obama

This week in NO-Bama news…. Paul Ryan Says Hillary Clinton Would Be A Better President Than Barack Obama Failed 2012 Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan has been running around and running his mouth ever since he and his former side kick Mitt Romney were defeated by newly re-elected President Barack Obama. Ryan has been publicly speaking out against President Obama’s handling of many issues since his campaign days ended, and now he’s even claiming that Obama’s former opponet and current Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would have been the better person for the job. via THG Former Republican V.P. candidate Paul Ryan said Sunday on Meet the Press that the nation’s fiscal crisis would be different right now under Hillary Clinton. “Look, if we had a [Hillary] Clinton presidency, if we had Erskine Bowles as chief of staff … I think we would have fixed this fiscal mess by now,” Ryan said. “[But] that’s not the kind of presidency we’re dealing with right now.” These fools will ride for anybody that isn’t Barry O, they might as well just keep it real and admit that much. And then after that’s out of the way….have several seats…..immediately.

Power Couple: Barry-O And Hillary Clinton Sit Down With 60 Minutes For First Joint Interview

This lil’ political swirl is the backbone of our great country Barack Obama And Hillary Clinton Sit For Joint Interview With 60 Minutes President Obama praised Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in a joint “60 Minutes” interview recorded Friday, calling his outgoing cabinet star one of the greatest chief diplomats in U.S. history. “I just wanted to have a chance to publicly say thank you, because I think Hillary will go down as one of the finest Secretaries of State we’ve had,” Obama said in the rare TV spot — the first time he’s done a joint interview with anyone besides his wife, Michelle, since reaching the White House. The interview — which was excerpted Friday and will be aired in full on Sunday — is a testament to the strength of the Obama-Clinton alliance that was forged following their bitter Democratic primary campaign in 2008. “In politics and in democracy, sometimes you win elections and sometimes you lose elections,” Clinton said, recounting what she’s told people the world over about the “improbable” alliance. “And I worked very hard and lost. And then President Obama asked me to be Secretary of State and I said yes. And why did I say yes? Because we both love our country.” Over the last four years, Clinton has traveled to 112 countries to rebuild an American brand left in tatters after the Iraq War — raising her 2016 White House prospects along the way. The POTUS went out of his way to shower ol’ Hill with compliments, possibly to further bolster her profile with the American people. “I can’t begrudge her wanting to take it easy for a little bit,” Obama said. “But I want the country to appreciate what an extraordinary role she’s played during the course of my administration. A lot of the successes we’ve had internationally have been because of her hard work.” Hillary could always return the favor if she was to become the first woman POTUS and offer Barry a gig on her cabinet. The interview will air on Sunday night. Image via AP
