The Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden, turns 70 years old today. Say it is so, Joe! The gaffe-prone Happy Warrior is the 47th man to hold the #2 spot in the federal government, and likely the first to fake tan or use hair plugs. Just kidding Joe! Before being elected (and recently reelected ) alongside President Barack Obama, he represented his home state of Delaware in the U.S. Senate from 1973-2009. During his career, Biden amassed a reputation for loquaciousness, with his questions and remarks during Senate hearings being known for their long-windedness. Not widely considered an academic or a theoretical thinker, he is regarded as a terrific retail politician, often regaling audiences with tales of his working class roots. Biden’s unabashed defense of his views and unpredictable nature have made him the target of many parodies, and deservedly so. At times he is like a caricature. Love him or hate him, he’s authentic, and has been consistent throughout. What you see is what you get … gaffes, f-bombs, Cheshire Cat smiles and all. Joe has been married to Dr. Jill Biden since 1977; they have one daughter, Ashley Biden. His first wife Neilia was killed in an automobile accident in 1972 along with their infant daughter. Their two sons, Beau and Hunter, made full recoveries. Happy birthday to the father, grandfather and Veep who needs no further introduction!
Even though Barack Obama decisively won re-election last week, there have been a few, let’s just say, “disgruntled” voters that have done some pretty outlandish…
Wow! This guy has no grasp of reality for the rest of us 47% folks . Mittens just got caught again talking that same isht he was spittin’ earlier this year when he told TOP donors that POTUS won his re-election through the “gifts” he was already giving blacks, Hispanics, and the youth. According to The Huffington Post , Romney’s finance team organized the call to donors: “The president’s campaign, if you will, focused on giving targeted groups a big gift,” Romney said in a call to donors on Wednesday. “He made a big effort on small things.” Romney said his campaign, in contrast, had been about “big issues for the whole country.” He said he faced problems as a candidate because he was “getting beat up” by the Obama campaign and that the debates allowed him to come back. In the call, Romney didn’t acknowledge any major missteps, such as his “47 percent” remarks widely viewed as denigrating nearly half of Americans, his lack of support for the auto bailout, his call for illegal immigrants to “self-deport,” or his change in position on abortion, gun control and other issues. He also didn’t address the success or failure of the campaign’s strategy of focusing on the economy in the face of some improvement in employment and economic growth during the months leading up to Election Day. Obama won the popular vote by about 3.5 million votes, or 3 percent, and won the Electoral College by a wide margin, 332-206 electoral votes. Exit polls conducted for The Associated Press and television networks showed that Obama led Romney by 11 percentage points among women and won better than 7 of 10 Hispanic voters and more than 9 of 10 black voters. Romney called his loss to Obama a disappointing result that he and his team had not expected, but he said he believed his team had run a superb campaign. He said he was trying to turn his thoughts to the future, “but, frankly, we’re still so troubled by the past, it’s hard to put together our plans for the future.” Among the “gifts” Romney cited were free health care “in perpetuity,” which he said was highly motivational to black and Hispanic voters as well as for voters making $25,000 to $35,000 a year. Romney also said the administration’s promise to offer what he called “amnesty” to the children of illegal immigrants – what he termed “the so-called DREAM Act kids” – helped send Hispanics to the polls for Obama. Young voters, Romney said, were motivated by the administration’s plan for partial forgiveness of college loan interest and being able to remain on their parents’ health insurance plans. Young women had an additional incentive to vote for Obama because of free contraception coverage under the president’s health care plan, he said. “I’m very sorry that we didn’t win,” he told donors. “I know that you expected to win. We expected to win. We were disappointed; we hadn’t anticipated it.” Romney said he and his team were discussing how his donor group could remain connected and have an influence on the direction of the Republican Party and even the selection of a future nominee – “which, by the way, will not be me.” We’re still looking for that ‘free stuff’ Mittens keeps talking about. We’ll let you know when we find it! Images via tumblr
When did Cornel West turn into a stunt queen??? Cornel West Calls Obama “Republican In Blackface” Cornel West has made it clear that he feels that President Obama should be more proactive in tackling issues like poverty and the prison-industrial complex. Some African Americans see the professor’s views as divisive, while others say he’s speaking truth to power. Recently in an interview with Democracy Now, West and Tavis Smiley were asked about the president’s priorities, and while Smiley said Americans must encourage the POTUS to be the best he can be, West was much more critical… Via The Root : “I think that it’s morally obscene and spiritually profane to spend $6 billion on an election, $2 billion on a presidential election, and not have any serious discussion—poverty, trade unions being pushed against the wall dealing with stagnating and declining wages when profits are still up and the 1 percent are doing very well, no talk about drones dropping bombs on innocent people. So we end up with such a narrow, truncated political discourse, as the major problems—ecological catastrophe, climate change, global warming. So it’s very sad. I mean, I’m glad there was not a right-wing takeover, but we end up with a Republican, a Rockefeller Republican in blackface, with Barack Obama , so that our struggle with regard to poverty intensifies” … The language that Cornel uses about the President of the United States is inappropriate, disrespectful and not specific with words that will give volunteerism to the needs of the people in this country, and just completely outrageous with poor communication through name-calling. It is hate-speech rhetoric and only displayed by those who have a self-centered interest through the priorities that Cornel appears to voice. Do you agree with Cornel West?
Another bitter Republican is showing his true colors and now we’ve got this fool calling for a dayum secession! According to The Grio , Hardin County Republican treasurer Peter Morrison thinks things would be better off if Texas just separated from the country: “Why should Vermont and Texas live under the same government?” he wrote in his Tea Party newsletter this week. He demanded an “amicable divorce” from the “maggots” who re-elected President Obama. More specifically, he doesn’t want to be associated with the non-white voters whom he said only voted for the president on an “ethnic basis.” “Let each go her own way,” he wrote. Several hundred readers receive Morrison’s newsletter and even more read it when it’s republished on Tea Party websites and redistributed by evangelical Republicans. Kent Batman, chairman of the Hardin County Republican Party, was surprised to hear about Morrison’s column. He told the Star-Telegram, “People around here are asking why Texas is so different from the rest of the country, why we see things so differently … but I don’t think a lot of people here are saying we ought to leave the Union.” Don’t these ‘leaders’ realize it would make a whole lot of sense if we all worked together??? There are some sore azz losers over in Congress and John Boehner’s trying to get his party to agree to work with one another in order to become a united front; but will it be against POTUS?? According to The New York Times : On a conference call with House Republicans a day after the party’s electoral battering last week, Speaker John A. Boehner dished out some bitter medicine, and for the first time in the 112th Congress, most members took their dose. Their party lost, badly, Mr. Boehner said, and while Republicans would still control the House and would continue to staunchly oppose tax rate increases as Congress grapples with the impending fiscal battle, they had to avoid the nasty showdowns that marked so much of the last two years. Members on the call, subdued and dark, murmured words of support — even a few who had been a thorn in the speaker’s side for much of this Congress It was a striking contrast to a similar call last year, when Mr. Boehner tried to persuade members to compromise with Democrats on a deal to extend a temporary cut in payroll taxes, only to have them loudly revolt. With President Obama re-elected and Democrats cementing control of the Senate, Mr. Boehner will need to capitalize on the chastened faction of the House G.O.P. that wants to cut a deal to avert sudden tax increases and across-the-board spending cuts in January that could send the economy back into recession. After spending two years marooned between the will of his loud and fractious members and the Democratic Senate majority, the speaker is trying to assert control, and many members seem to be offering support. “To have a voice at the bargaining table, John Boehner has to be strong,” said Representative Tom Cole of Oklahoma, one of the speaker’s lieutenants. “Most members were just taught a lesson that you’re not going to get everything that you want. It was that kind of election.” “I just believe John will have more leeway than in the past Congress,” said Representative Peter T. King, Republican of New York. “The election will matter.” The divide between Mr. Obama and Mr. Boehner appears wide. In their Saturday addresses, the president demanded immediate House passage of a bill approved by the Senate that would extend the expiring Bush-era tax cuts for households earning under $250,000, while the speaker said raising tax rates on anyone would be unacceptable. But beneath the posturing, both men were keeping open avenues of negotiation. Mr. Obama was careful to call for more revenue, not higher tax rates, a demand that could be fulfilled by ending or limiting tax deductions and credits, a path Mr. Boehner has accepted. The question over what to do about the expiring tax cuts would be swept aside if the parties could reach an agreement before then to overhaul the tax code completely — and render obsolete the current structure of six income tax rates, all of which would rise on Jan. 1. Even so, some Republicans have issued a stern warning to Mr. Boehner that he cannot expect their votes if he makes a deal with Democrats before seeking their consent. “What we’ve seen in the past is the speaker goes, negotiates with the president, and just before we vote, he tells us what the deal is and attempts to persuade us to vote for it,” said Representative John Fleming, Republican of Louisiana. “We’re just not very happy with deals being baked, then we’re asked to stay with the team and support the speaker.” Given those conflicting demands, Mr. Boehner must decide whether he wants to seal his role as an essential player in a grand plan to restructure the nation’s fiscal condition, or continue the status quo of the very gridlock voters appear to detest. “I don’t want to box myself in, and I don’t want to box anyone else in,” Mr. Boehner told reporters on Friday. Republican lawmakers and Congressional aides say the situation is not as dire as the conflicts of the past two years, which nearly led to a government default on its debt and included a series of impasses that plunged Congress’s approval rating to its lowest recorded level. Any deal with the president would probably lose 60 to 80 Republican votes, but the president would bring along enough Democrats to get it passed. “When the president and I have been able to come to an agreement, there has been no problem getting it passed here in the House,” Mr. Boehner assured reporters, alluding to the deal struck with Mr. Obama to extend payroll tax cuts, which took Democratic support. That’s right John. As long as The President of The United States agrees with you , we can get things passed. SMH…they don’t have any dayum respect for Barack do they?? Images via WENN
This ugly bird obviously hasn’t missed a single meal in over 4 years, but is complaining about what? If this Becky is “assassinated” would you all shed a tear? “The United States Secret Service is investigating a Turlock woman over a post she made, using the N-word, about President Obama on Facebook.” youtube 40news
This one’s got folks asking if his ‘choice’ to step down is a cover-up after all the Benghazi beatings Obama’s team took during elections . According to Politico : David Petraeus resigned his post as director of the Central Intelligence Agency on Friday, citing an extramarital affair. Petraeus visited the White House on Thursday to ask President Barack Obama to accept his resignation “for personal reasons,” he said in a statement to CIA staff. “After being married for over 37 years, I showed extremely poor judgment by engaging in an extramarital affair. Such behavior is unacceptable, both as a husband and as the leader of an organization such as ours.” The FBI is investigating Paula Broadwell, author of the biography “All In: The Education of General David Petraeus,” for improperly attempting to access his email, law enforcement officials tell NBC News. An intelligence source confirms to POLITICO that the FBI had been investigating Petraeus after accidentally learning of the affair. He was pushed to exit before it all came out in detail. “Director Petraeus was encouraged to get ahead of it and take control of the situation because it would eventually come out,” the source said. A White House official told POLITICO that the White House was informed of the issue Wednesday, and Obama was told Thursday. “The president met with General Petraeus yesterday. In that meeting, Petraeus offered his resignation and explained the circumstances behind it,” the official said. “The president accepted [Petraeus’s] resignation in a phone call this afternoon.” The resignation comes as the intelligence community remains under pressure over the attack in Benghazi that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others. Petraeus was slated to testify next Thursday at a closed Senate Intelligence Committee hearing on Benghazi. In a statement, Obama said he accepted Petraeus’s resignation and expressed confidence in Michael Morrell, the agency’s deputy director, to take over as acting director. Morell will testify in Petraeus’s place next week. “Going forward, my thoughts and prayers are with Dave and Holly Petraeus, who has done so much to help military families through her own work. I wish them the very best at this difficult time,” Obama said. Do you think he should’ve stepped down because he allegedly cheated on his wife?? Images via facebook
