Lil Wayne Records Verse For Drake’s ‘Light Up’ From Prison

‘Recording over the phone, I hope the call don’t drop,’ Wayne raps in remix. By Jayson Rodriguez Lil Wayne Photo: Frank Micelotta/ Getty Images Lil Wayne has blogged from the bing and hosted a mixtape from prison , and now the Cash Money Records superstar has kicked a rhyme from behind bars. Weezy recorded a verse for Drake’s “Light Up” featuring Jay-Z ; the original track is set to appear on the Toronto MC’s forthcoming debut, Thank Me Later, slated for a June 15 release. Drizzy premiered the number Tuesday night during a Ustream session with Jas Prince, the son of legendary Rap-A-Lot Record founder J. Prince. “I’m feeling like Elvis, ‘Jailhouse Rock,’ ” Wayne raps via telephone. “I’m not 2Pac, I’m the new ‘Pac/ Behind bars, but the bars don’t stop/ Recording over the phone, I hope the call don’t drop/ Drizzy got the ball, I know the ball won’t drop/ And I pray none of my kids ever wanna be Pop.” Drake first hinted at the “Light Up” remix during his listening session in New York last week. The Young Money recording artist visited his mentor prior to the session and later told MTV 2 “Sucker Free” host DJ Envy that he and Wayne would release a joint project . The album version features only Drake and Jay-Z as the two rappers trade rhymes about their experience in the rap game. Drake told MTV News in March that the track is similar to the advice and conversations he has with the Brooklyn wordsmith. “It’s just me and Jay both rapping on it for an extended period of time,” Drake explained “It’s real rap. I do sing on it, but it’s just on the hook. It’s great. The perspective, the dynamic on the track — it’s me and Jay’s relationship on the song, basically. When you hear it, people will be like, ‘Oh man.’ That’s how we are — just the two. He definitely has guided me a lot, as far as his words and his advice. We have a real funny rapport. I always enjoy my conversations with Jay.” What do you think about Lil Wayne’s “Light Up” verse? Let us know in the comments! Related Videos Lil Wayne Goes To Jail Related Artists Lil Wayne Drake

Marais Stool

This vintage stool was designed by Xavier Pauchard back in 1934. Boasting industrial flair and that steampunk-oomph it was crafted from sheet steel and built to last. The Marais Stool actually has a bit of history as it was long used as a bribe by breweries to get the bars and brasserie employees to carry the heavy kegs of beer in exchange for a stool. $300 . ‘American Idol’ Top Three Get Warm Homecoming During Whirlwind Visits

Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox and Casey James greeted their hometown fans on Friday. By Gil Kaufman Crystal Bowersox visits her hometown of Toledo, Ohio, on Friday Photo: Getty Images Winning “American Idol” is the goal, but for the top three finalists of every season, going home is always the sweetest trip. The remaining trio — Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox and Casey James — all took trips back to their respective hometowns on Friday and were greeted with parades, huge crowds and the first sight of their adoring hometown crowds since the finals began. People magazine tagged along with all three and reported that Bowersox visited all her old haunts when she returned to the Toledo, Ohio, area, spending time with bassist Frankie May and dropping in at one of the bars she played in as a young teenager, Papa’s Tavern . After flying into a private airstrip on Thursday night, the 24-year-old singer popped in to the local Fox TV station, hit a few radio stations and then waved to the crowd during a parade in downtown Toledo, where she got a glass key to the city from Mayor Michael Bell. She celebrated by performing her original ode to the city, “Holy Toledo,” which has become a minor local radio hit, to a crowd of 5,000. Then she moved to the cozy confines of Papa’s, where she performed a mix of covers and originals for a crowd made up mostly of regulars. There was a lunch at her dad’s house, some downtime with son Tony and then a show for 4,000 at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds, where she urged fans to vote. The day ended with the tossing of the first pitch and the singing of the national anthem at Fifth Third Field, the home of the minor league baseball team the Toledo Mud Hens. Lee DeWyze , 24, couldn’t keep his emotions in check during his tearful trip back to Chicago, where he dropped in on teachers at his old high school, hung out with his family and played a nine-song acoustic show for more than 41,000 at the Arlington Park Racetrack, according to People. His day began with the reading of the local weather on Fox Chicago News, some radio-station drop-ins, a first pitch at a Chicago Cubs game, a parade and a check-in with his old boss at Mt. Prospect Paint. It was a similarly hectic routine for Casey James, 27, who made 10 stops during his visit to Texas, the magazine reported. After visiting his alma mater, Milsap High School, which set out a red carpet surrounded by screaming fans, James spent some quality time with his mother, brother and two dogs, Daisy and Buster. He also paid an emotional visit to Texas Health Harris Methodist Fort Worth Hospital, where doctors treated him six years ago after a serious motorcycle crash. He played his guitar and sang a few songs at one of his old haunts, the packed Fort Worth club Keys Lounge. He also reunited with his family for a picnic at the home he built himself and popped in to the Fort Worth Stockyard, where he got a key to the city. James was the only finalist to have a two-day home visit, which also included a show on Saturday at the tiny community center in his hometown of Cool, Texas, and a bigger gig in front of 4,000 at day’s end at his high school stadium. The final three will sing two songs each on Tuesday night: one of their own choosing and one chosen by the producers. The next night’s elimination will pave the way for the May 26 finale.

30 Seconds To Mars Call Into The Wild Tour ‘A New Beginning’

‘It’s a massive celebration for us and our fans,’ Jared Leto says. By James Montgomery 30 Seconds to Mars Photo: EMI Music They just wrapped their first-ever run of arena shows in Europe, shot a combat-themed music video for “This Is War” and kicked off the U.S. leg of their Into the Wild tour . So why, with so much forward momentum, does Jared Leto consider everything 30 Seconds to Mars are doing to be a gigantic step back to square one? “I’ve said this before, but the most exciting thing about being in this band right now, is that it feels like the beginning again. Making this album, we rediscovered ourselves, and we emerged as something different,” Leto told MTV News. “We did the tour of Europe, which was a new beginning for us, and now, we’re touring America. And to have not toured here in three years, it’s a massive celebration for us and our fans. We feel like we’re beginning the journey again, here in this country.” The journey actually began on Friday in Las Vegas, when 30STM launched their Into the Wild trek at the Palms Casino Resort’s Pearl Theater. The tour will crisscross the country until mid-May, at which point the band will actually take about a month of before heading back to Europe for the summer fest circuit) — though, as Leto points out, they’re not taking a break willingly. “We’re just really excited, and we don’t want to stop,” he laughed. “This band is never exhausted. We’ve been able to play the songs on [ This Is War ] for audiences in Europe, and now we’re getting to play them for fans here. And right now, that’s what’s most exciting … to have people hear it and experience it.” And just what can fans expect on the U.S. leg of Into the Wild? Leto’s not saying. You’ve got to come out and see the show for yourself. “Like I said, it’s a celebration, it’s emotional, it’s a big, loud show,” he explained. “But, really, you’ve got to come out and see it. That’s the best way to put it.” Are you going to see 30 Seconds to Mars on tour this spring? What song are you looking forward to hearing live? Share your excitement below! ‘Jersey Shore’ Brings Seaside Heights A Fiscal Fist-Pump

‘We can’t even calculate the economic benefit,’ local business exec says. By Eric Ditzian The cast of “Jersey Shore” Photo: Scott Gries/Picture Group Seaside Heights, New Jersey has historically been a sleepy town in the winter months, its boardwalk and beaches only heating up after Memorial Day weekend begins. All that has changed since the emergence of “Jersey Shore,” MTV’s hit reality show about a group of tanned and gelled kids partying it up in the Heights. “Ever since it aired in the beginning of December, the phones have been ringing earlier and more often,” Maria Maruca, executive director of the Seaside Heights Business Improvement District, told MTV News. “Now that the show is coming back, we can’t even calculate the economic benefit.” That’s right, Snooki, the Situation and the rest of the “Jersey Shore” cast are headed back to Seaside Heights for part of season two, and the owners of hotels, restaurants, bars and more in Seaside Heights couldn’t be happier. Filming for the first season flew mostly under the radar on a national level, but the town benefitted greatly in terms of hotel stays and catering for the show’s cast and crew. Now that the show’s a hit, Maruca said Seaside Heights has been busy over the winter and is positioned for an epic summer. “There’s the curiosity factor,” she said. “Celebrities draw crowds. That’s going to give us an edge that we didn’t have before. The exposure that the show brought to Seaside Heights — when every late-night host is talking about Snooki, when Leonardo DiCaprio is talking about the show — we could never have afforded that type of media. This is more than we could ever have asked for.” Maruca hastened to add that the town remains weather-dependent and that sunny skies are hugely important to its financial bottom line. And there are, of course, those who feel the increased exposure comes with negative costs stemming from what some feel are unflattering impressions of both Italian-Americans and Seaside Heights. “There’s always people who see the glass of half empty,” Maruca said. “The show isn’t about Seaside Heights; the show is about eight individuals. It just happened to be filmed in Seaside Heights. And when you look at Seaside Heights as a backdrop, our beaches look spectacular; our boardwalk, our amusements look great.” An unexpected tourist destination has become the “Jersey Shore” house itself, with folks snapping pictures in front of what Seaside Heights business owners have come to call “the most famous garage door in America.” And then there are the bars and clubs, like Karma and Beachcomber Bar and Grill, that were featured on the show and which stand to do big business when the summer season kicks off. Maruca didn’t have exact figures for the increase in business over the winter or for what’s expected in the coming months, but expectations are running high. “The anticipation for the summer season has been heightened all around, from the tourism business to the business community,” he said. “To see the buzz and the activity is beyond exciting.” Are you excited for the next season of “Jersey Shore”? Katie Holmes: Held Against Her Will!

It’s been awhile, but Star, In Touch, OK! and their ilk decided to give Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie the week off as the subject of myriad ridiculous tabloid covers . Taking Brangelina’s place in the first of the aforementioned celebrity gossip rags? A rare TomKat sighting! It’s like some editor just remembered that they exist! We haven’t seen a good story about Katie Holmes being trapped in Tom Cruise’s evil clutches in forever (well, December), but this one makes up for lost time! In addition to insinuating that Tom got her pregnant with baby #2 (which he is supposedly willing to give her $75 million for), Star suggests that Katie Holmes: Is getting “prenatal Scientology lessons (whatever that consists of) Is going through “agonizing” detox (of what, who the frick knows) Is having her “leash tightened” (yes, they just likened her to a dog) PRISON WITHOUT BARS : For Katie Holmes, there is no escape . For someone supposedly under intense mind control and chained in Tom Cruise’s torture dungeon, Katie seems awfully content, albeit a little frumpy lately. Katie and Tom have been together since 2005. Suri Cruise is thriving and cute. Everyone seems okay. Could it be that TomKat isn’t that abnormal after all? That, or the perks of being married to Tom must be really good.
