Vanessa Hudgens Does Her Best JLo

Usually we see Vanessa Hudgens in her workout clothes looking pissed off and covering her face, so it’s a nice surprise that she’s smiling while entering BBC studios. Now if only she can act like this when wearing her Lululemons and not when she’s done up like Jenny from the Block . Anyway, I have no clue what she’s promoting that’s making her so happy, but I’m hoping it’s the announcement for a Spring Breakers sequel.

Gut Full Of…Gotdamn!! A 15-Pound 7-Ounce Baby Recorded As The Second Biggest Naturally Born Child In British History!

Sheesh… Second Largest Baby In British History 15 Pounds 7 Ounces Via ChristianPost A baby has been born 15 pounds, 7 ounces – about twice the size of an average baby. The newborn was born in the United Kingdom, and is the second biggest newborn ever born naturally in the U.K. Baby George King was born just six weeks ago in a dramatic delivery, and since then have been getting rid of all the newborn baby clothes and diapers they had prepared for their son – as they don’t fit. Baby George was born completely naturally, which is extremely unusual for a baby of his size, as usually an emergency C-section would be performed due to the likely difficulties involved in a natural delivery of such a large baby. There was no indication that baby George would be this big – both of his parents were born at pretty regular sizes, and are not particularly big themselves. Ladies can you even imagine pushing a child 15 pounds through your holy walls?? Baby George’s size caused significant difficulties for his mother, Jade. Mid-way through the delivery – after baby George’s head had already popped out – he became stuck. His relatively giant size for a newborn meant he simply was struggling to get his shoulders out. Mom, Jade, has described that “that’s when things got scary,” as about 20 medical staff ended up in the room working on freeing the baby. That sparked a big emergency for doctors and midwives, and baby George was oxygen deprived for a full five minutes – with doctors saying that he had only a 10 percent chance of survival at that point. However, he was eventually delivered successfully and was transferred to another hospital for specialist care. He was only allowed home more than four weeks after his birth as he recovered from his ordeal. In the weeks since, he has put on only one more pound, and his parents Jade and Ryan have confirmed that he entirely skipped his newborn clothes and went straight into 4-6 months clothing. Elsewhere In The World: Gay British Teen Dies After Being Set On Fire At Birthday Party

A young British man has been convicted of manslaughter after killing a gay teen by setting him on fire. Gay British Teen Dies After Being Set On Fire At Birthday Party Via HuffPo reports: The BBC reports that 20-year-old Jordan Sheard has been sentenced to three and a half years in jail for the death of Steven Simpson after pleading guilty to manslaughter charges. Simpson, 18, died one day after sustaining “significant burns” in June 2012, according to the report. Simpson had Asperger’s syndrome, a speech impairment and epilepsy, the Yorkshire Post noted. The teen had reportedly been dared to strip down to his underpants before being doused in tanning oil, after which Sheard set him aflame at the party. Other reports said that anti-gay messages, including “gay boy” and “I love d*ck,” had been found scrawled across Simpson’s body. Detective Sean Middleton described Simpson to the BBC as “a very caring and likeable young man” and a “generous spirit was taken advantage of and a single thoughtless act resulted in his death.” A number of local lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights advocates said they believed Sheard’s prison term to be too lenient, but prosecuting attorney Tim Warburton nonetheless told The Star that the sentence was “within the range of what would be expected had it been considered a hate crime,” and that it would not be appealed. “This was a cruel case of bullying based on Steven’s sexuality and disability,” Warburton is quoted as saying. “While we accept Jordan did not intend to kill Steven, his actions did lead to his death.” Meanwhile, Sheard’s attorney said his client had been “deeply and significantly affected by what he has done and the tragic consequences that ensued,” which describing Simpson’s death as a “stupid prank that went wrong in a bad way,” the Daily Mail noted. This is INSANE. 3 1/2 years for killing someone? And how do you drench someone in OIL, then set them on fire without the intent to kill them (or at least seriously maim them)? The friggin UK laws are as deranged and loopy as the US.

Women Struggle In Hollywood, Study Shows, As New Outfit, Tangerine, Launches To Narrow Gap

Chalk this up as being barely a surprise. A study recently found that, of the 250 top-grossing Hollywood films, only 9% of the directors were women in 2012. And that is actually an increase from 4% in 2011. The study comes out as indie producers announced the launch of a new production company at the Sundance Film Festival : Tangerine Entertainment, which will focus on female directors and “strong roles for women.” The study, by the Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film, said that women made up 18% of all directors, executive producers, writers, cinematographers and editors, BBC reports . The study found that women either gravitated or were more welcomed in documentary, drama and animated film genres. The organization, which has surveyed the industry for over a decade, said that female producers have comprised about 25% of the total over the past two years, while female writers rose from a low of 10% in 2006 to 15% today. About 20 – 21% of editors have been female over the past decade and cinematographers have been about 2 – 4% female. The independent realm has been kinder to women filmmakers, according to a study by the Sundance Institute. Of 820 narrative and documentaries screened over the past decade at the Sundance Film Festival, women represented just under 30% of the total. Hoping to narrow the gap, Tangerine Entertainment, launched by veteran indie producers Anne Hubbell and Amy Hobby, will work with female directors in all genres. Its aim is to increase “the presence of smart, complex women both behind and in front of the camera. Tangerine will create commercially viable, character-driven content and a strong brand known for superior quality without high costs.” “Raising awareness for and cultivating community around female filmmakers will be unique and essential to the plan,” said Hubbell in a statement. “Utilizing all social media tools and creating grassroots opportunities for personal interaction, Tangerine will cultivate a fan base, while simultaneously creating work for that audience.” Added Hobby: “The imbalance created by the lack of gender parity offers an opportunity for Tangerine to take advantage of relevant stories and distinct voices found in this underserved work force.” Tangerine will collaborate with experienced producers, directors, and talent and each film will be produced for what it calls, “an appropriate, responsible budget capitalizing on strong vendor relationships, state incentives, international co-productions, and Hobby’s and Hubbell’s own production expertise.” The company hopes to bring more women-lead projects to festivals and beyond. Last year, organizers of last year’s Cannes Film Festival were criticized for not programming any films by women directors in its main competition slate. “This data shows us that there is a higher representation of female filmmakers in independent film as compared to Hollywood – but it also highlights the work that is still to be done for women to achieve equal footing in the field,” noted Women in Film president Cathy Schulman.
